I keep hearing this rivalry over and over again. Stoessel had a program on it, the U-T had a whole section on it (they contrasted San Diego with AUSTIN, the most liberal town in Texas). Here is the latest from the Moonie paper, the Washington Times: www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/mar/4/major-firearms-retailer-fleeing-california-texas/"John W. Harrington, who founded Shield Tactical in 2008, decided that California’s gun-control regulation is too restrictive for his business, Red Alert Politics reported. Mr. Harrington, originally from Texas, said it was “time to go home.” “The state of California treats all businesses as necessary evils,” he said. “They treat those of us in the gun business as just evil. They make it very clear that they don’t want us there. It’s just that simple.” All I gotta say is, don't let the door slam you on your gun-licking ass on your way out.

www.latimes.com/news/nation/nationnow/la-na-nn-texas-prosecutor-kaufman-county-20130401,0,7313362.story "KAUFMAN, Texas -- Texas officials moved quickly to replace a district attorney in this Dallas-area county after he was killed in an attack that experts said was unprecedented in modern U.S. history. First Assistant Dist. Atty. Brandi Fernandez has assumed the role of the county's lead prosecutor after her boss, Mike McLelland, was found shot dead with his wife, Cynthia, in their home near Forney on Saturday night. Two months earlier, a colleague, Mark Hasse, was shot and killed in a parking lot outside the Kaufman County courthouse." Isn't the Texas mantra "More guns, less crime"?

www.nytimes.com/2013/05/10/us/after-plant-explosion-texas-remains-wary-of-regulation.html?hpw&_r=0"WEST, Tex. — Five days after an explosion at a fertilizer plant leveled a wide swath of this town, Gov. Rick Perry tried to woo Illinois business officials by trumpeting his state’s low taxes and limited regulations. Asked about the disaster, Mr. Perry responded that more government intervention and increased spending on safety inspections would not have prevented what has become one of the nation’s worst industrial accidents in decades." "Texas has always prided itself on its free-market posture. It is the only state that does not require companies to contribute to workers’ compensation coverage. It boasts the largest city in the country, Houston, with no zoning laws. It does not have a state fire code, and it prohibits smaller counties from having such codes. Some Texas counties even cite the lack of local fire codes as a reason for companies to move there. But Texas has also had the nation’s highest number of workplace fatalities — more than 400 annually — for much of the past decade." Wow, no fire codes?

Property taxes in Texas are much higher than California. It's better to be poor in Texas than California.

www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jul/7/gov-rick-perry-were-going-pass-abortion-restrictio/"Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Sunday that state Sen. Wendy Davis‘ attention-getting filibuster notwithstanding, the Legislature is going to approve restrictions on abortion when it gavels in another special session this week. “We’re going to pass some restrictions on abortion,” he said on “Fox News Sunday.” “Texas is a place where we defend life. I mean, that’s the powerful message here and that’s what we’re focused on and politics will take care of itself.” Gosh, it's good to know Texas defends "life". But seriously, I can't imagine why any woman with half a brain would choose Texas over California if they have a choice. Are some women just masochistic and like having the Texas Legislature decide they have to stay pregnant whether they want to or not?

www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/jul/8/rick-perry-not-running-texas-governor-coy-2016/"Texas Gov. Rick Perry announced Monday that he will not seek a fourth term, fueling speculation of another White House run for the nation’s longest-serving chief executive and opening the door for a new leader of the biggest GOP-leaning state. The move comes at a time when Texas has become a leader in pushing the envelope for conservative causes, including a bill to ban most abortions after a pregnancy reaches 20 weeks. Speaking in San Antonio, Mr. Perry said he plans to spend the final 18 months of his term fighting for the same conservative policies that he said have produced more than 1 million new jobs on his watch, and have made Texas an economic model. But Mr. Perry was coy about his future plans, and would not rule out running for president again." Lest you righties forget: Which state gave you Ronald Reagan, and which state gave you George W. Bush? But I'd love it if this toad ran against Hillary.

I sure as heck wouldn't cuddle up to Rosanne under ANY circumstances. Plus her nagging mouth would put me as far away from her as possible. If she was the last female on earth, humans would become extinct! There aren't many females that are as irritating as she is.......unless their liberals! LOL

www.newrepublic.com/article/114419/texas-secession-rick-perry-americans"It’s official: Texas is America’s least favorite state. So declares an online poll conducted by Business Insider and their polling partner, Survey Monkey Audience. The poll asks people to rate the states on various categories, including rudest (New York), smartest (Massasetts), hottest residents (California) and drunkest (Louisiana). Asked to name the state they’d most like to kick out of the union, a plurality picked Texas." I was pretty damn hot today...

www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/31/texas-abortion-restrictions-reinstated_n_4184999.html"AUSTIN, Texas -- AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A federal appeals court on Thursday ruled that most of Texas' tough new abortion restrictions can take effect immediately — a decision that means a third of the state's clinics that perform the procedure won't be able to do so starting as soon as Friday. A panel of judges at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans said the law requiring doctors to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital can take effect while a lawsuit challenging the restrictions moves forward. The panel issued the ruling three days after District Judge Lee Yeakel said the provision serves no medical purpose." Once again, this proves the difference between an Enlightened State (California), and a State Run By Religious Fanatics (Texas). Not that it makes any difference to me, but if you are a young professional woman, it might make a difference which state you chose to work in. And we will be glad to have them here in the Progressive State.

www.latimes.com/food/dailydish/la-dd-texas-invites-huy-fong-foods-make-sriracha-20140107,0,4285954.story#axzz2pqD6vH74 "Villalba, who has been in office for a little under a year, happens to be a Sriracha fan, but he's looking to move the company for more than personal reasons. He notes in his letter that in Texas there are no personal or corporate state income taxes and a plentiful non-union labor pool. He also mentions that Forbes Magazine named Texas the best climate in the country to grow a business. "The great state of Texas would welcome you and your employees with open arms if you would consider moving..." reads the letter. "...Texas could provide you with exactly what you need to continue to grow, build and maximize the opportunities of Huy Fong Foods." I wonder how many Srirachi employees would want to move to Texas? Oh well, they are all replaceable parts, aren't they?

america.aljazeera.com/articles/2014/1/22/mexico-warns-againsttexasexecutionofmexicannational.html"Absent a last-minute intervention by Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Edgar Tamayo will die at 6 p.m. CT Wednesday, after an "unknown executioner" injects the Mexican national with a single lethal dose of pentobarbital at Huntsville State Penitentiary. Tamayo, 46, was convicted of fatally shooting Houston police Officer Guy Gaddis in 1994. The case has raised tensions with Mexico, which claims that Tamayo and 50 other Mexicans awaiting execution in the U.S. were convicted without being informed of their right to contact the Mexican Consulate upon arrest — a violation of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. As a result, Mexico argues, Tamayo was denied assistance that could have proved crucial in deciding his case." That's where I want to live: The execution capitol of America. And this is in A State Run by Religious Fanatics, because Jesus loves executions. Oh wait, he was executed.
