No small task but nevertheless I finished the second book from the”Game of Thrones” series “A Clash of Kings.” No small task since the second book is nearly 1,000 pages of small font.
“Game of Thrones," the first book followed the HBO series closely. In the second book “A Clash of Kings” season 2 HBO series took a lot of liberties from the book.
While reading book 2 I found myself saying multiple times “that’s different,” not that it was terribly important but I’d gotta say the “A Clash of Kings” book is better than HBO season 2.

Just be sure you don't give anything away! Rest assured. I promised myself I'd give my eyeballs at least a weeks rest before diving into book 3 but I'm already deep into book 3. Book 3 is 1,200 pages so I should be about 3 weeks away from book 4.

Just be sure you don't give anything away! I'm nearly finished book 3. I'll not give anything away only to say I'm shocked, surprised and saddened. I'm a hard-ass old guy yet book 3 got to me.

I'm almost done with book 4 and there has been less killed thus far than a single page in book 3. I'm told book 5 will be a birthday present on Aug 28.
My youngest son's girlfriend has read book 1-5, she tells me book 5 will really piss me off and Martin, at best is a sadist.

Yesterday I finished book 5 now I'm really pissed at George RR Martin, no beans spilled here but he's gotta stop killing my favorite characters.
One interesting aspect is not much different than reality as they deal with debt, borrowing and taxes.

It will be interesting to see how closely the tv series sticks to the books.

Not many liberties were taken with book 1 but that was not true for book 2, we’ll see how season 3 shakes out.

The ratings success of the new NBC sci-fi program "Revolution" (which unfortunately I missed) makes me wonder if there is now a trend of fantasy-sci-fi programming on TV. Fifty years ago, Westerns were all over TV, I suppose because the "Greatest" generation was fond of them. Twenty-five years ago, it was crime shows all the time. Many Boomers had a thing for crime for some reason. Now we're getting a lot more fantasy/SF like GOT, thank God.

I'm getting to see a repeat of "Revolution"' and sad to say it is humorless drudgery that takes itself way too seriously. Why can't the networks get this stuff right?
