www.aclj.org/TrialNotebook/Read.aspx?ID=866UN Update: The Truth About Defamation of Religions Resolution I want to bring you an update on our efforts underway at the United Nations to oppose a dangerous resolution that will be introduced soon by the Organization of the Islamic Conference that targets Christianity and makes it a crime to speak out against Islam. Our team at the U.N. already has visited 31 permanent missions of foreign delegations. These meetings were designed to demonstrate the dangers of the Defamation of Religions resolution, which is giving international cover to the persecution of Christians around the world. Many of the delegations we visited yesterday expressed dismay about the recent ramifications of this resolution. One specific Ambassador shared that her previous support for the resolution had been based on an understanding that the resolution was simply about tolerance. However, in recent years, she has seen that our analysis has been correct, and the result has indeed been religious persecution. At each stop, our team is reiterating the truth about this resolution and the fact that it violates international law. We continue to urge that this resolution be defeated. Our work continues at the U.N. where we are continuing with follow-up visits to the delegations which have requested more information. We are also reaching out to additional delegations. Our team will also provide input on this critical issue at an academic roundtable being held at the U.N. on the issue. We expect the final language of this year’s version of the Defamation of Religions resolution to be introduced at any time, and the first in a series of votes will follow shortly after introduction. It is critically important that you stand with us as we work to defend the rights and freedoms of Christians facing persecution. Please add your name to our petition now. And, as always, listen to Jay Sekulow Live! for updates.

I am reading a book on Muslims.
Before you hate the Title - read the book. They conducted some decent research, infiltrated an organization that is difficult to enter, obtained actual documents - no hearsay, they have videos, pictures, etc.
The book is a new one on the top list of books to read: "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America" authors David Gaubatz and Paul Sperry - there is a bibliography.
I had already read: "The Everlasting Hatred: The Roots of Jihad" by Hal Lindsey which if you have not read it is another good book as far as setting historical timelines - there is a bibliography.

tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/10/shadegg-investigate-cair-for-congressional-espionage.phpShadegg: Investigate CAIR For Congressional Espionage Rachel Slajda | October 14, 2009, 6:28PM Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) released a statement today calling for an investigation into the Council on American Islamic Relations, a nonprofit that supports civil rights for Muslims. Here is the full text: U.S. Representatives John Shadegg (AZ-03), Sue Myrick (NC-09), Paul Broun (GA-10) and Trent Franks (AZ-02) today called on federal officials to investigate the actions and non-profit status of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR). In a memo obtained through Paul Sperry's newest book Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that's Conspiring to Islamize America, CAIR lays out plans to place interns in the Committees on the Judiciary, Intelligence, and Homeland Security for the purpose of influencing policy. In 2008, CAIR was named as a co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism case in Dallas, Texas, which led to guilty verdicts on 108 charges based on funneling more than $12 million to HAMAS. Later that year, the FBI cut all ties with CAIR. In response to these recent claims in Muslim Mafia, Myrick, Shadegg, Broun and Franks call on: 1) The US Department of Justice to share with each member of Congress and their Chiefs of Staff an executive summary of the findings that led them to name CAIR as a co-conspirator in a terrorism case; 2) The House Sergeant at Arms to work with the Staff Directors and Committee Chairmen of the House Judiciary, Homeland Security and Intelligence Committees to see if CAIR was successful in placing interns in any of said committees since the drafting of this memo in January of 2007; 3) The Internal Revenue Service to launch a full investigation into the legality of the lobbying activities of CAIR to judge if they are in violation of their federal non-profit status. " It's frightening to think that an organization with clear-cut ties to terrorism could have a hand in influencing policy - especially national security policy - within our government," said Rep. Myrick. " The investigations that we're asking for are simple, and I'm hopeful that they will bring to light any and all information regarding the goals of CAIR." "I urge Americans to read, listen and inform themselves about the threat of radical Islam," said Rep. Shadegg. "Muslim Mafia is just one of many books that highlight the infiltration of radical Islamists into our society and the dangers that this poses. The authors make and document a number of very troubling allegations about CAIR that Members of Congress should be aware of and that should be investigated by the Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service." " Freedom is precious and we must be vigilant in our protection of it," said Rep. Broun. " As a Marine, member of the House Homeland Security Committee, and member of the Anti-Terrorism Caucus, I believe allegations that CAIR has targeted members of Congress on security related committees must not go uninvestigated. I want to thank my colleagues for continuing to educate the public about CAIR's connections to the terrorist organization HAMAS and most recently for bringing attention to more allegations that surround this non-profit. The U.S. Justice Department must share the findings that led them to name CAIR as a co-conspirator in a terrorism case with Congressional offices. I call on the IRS to launch a full investigation into CAIR's eligibility for a non-profit status. Finally, I encourage the House Sgt. at Arms to work with congressional staff to see if CAIR was successful in placing interns in any security related committees." "The United States is at critical crossroads in U.S. foreign policy and national security," said Rep. Franks. "We live in a post-9/11 world where the coincidence of nuclear proliferation and Islamic terrorism pose a very dangerous combination and real threat to America's national security. The Holy Land Foundation Trial clearly showed that CAIR was established to support the goals of the Palestine Committee, the Muslim Brotherhood's base for support in the U.S. It is time for CAIR's leadership to acknowledge and renounce their ties to this Committee and its Islamic terrorist affiliates. Moreover, they should finally publicly state that they do not support the political agenda of groups such as HAMAS or the Muslim Brotherhood, which include the destruction of Israel and establishment of an Islamic state in the U.S. I take the charges levied against CAIR and laid out in this book very seriously because they affect our national security. This Congress must be deliberate in taking a strong stance against those groups and organizations that align themselves with terrorists, and standing with organizations that are standing against Islamic extremism and terrorism, and are committed to protecting and preserving the cause of freedom we treasure so deeply in America. Asking the Justice Department to take a long, hard look at the underlying positions of CAIR, its actions, and its affiliations is one critically important step in this process." =============================== ***Personal note: Even if CAIR did denounce its previous affiliations - I would not trust them. Quraysh model comes to mind. ****

Darn big subject, Dolphie. And also one it is hard to get people to talk about. Most people seem to keep their religious beliefs close to their chest, and it is not considered proper conversation for social events...or so I'm told. I'm nosey, so I always ask.

We are discussing the other taboos: Politics and race and other Politically Uncorrect (thank you Gretchen Wilson) topics. Why not get Religion out in the open and air it out? Of course - for now - it is focused on Islam, Fanatical Islam, Islam in the USA for how long? Christianity... Judaism -- both factor in intensely with Islam. What I also am concerned about is this: We have Native Americans that just plain do not buy into either belief system - how will they fare in all of this?

You might want to check out "Are Catholics Un-American?" thread for some earlier comments on religion. We could pull from there - I would rather start from a different perspective though. I don't want to go negative so much as informative. (I know - I say that and then look at what I say below. LOL Leave it to a female to say two things at once and mean them both! I claim woman's prerogative!) I would really like to see where being tolerant in this case serves us in any form or fashion. The Koran is not a peaceful book. I do not like the way women or children are treated. I do NOT advocate or approve of homosexuality - yet I do not want to see people maimed. Of course, Unless they mess with our children!!!!!!!!!! Then maim away! (Before someone thinks I am anti-homosexual just because of the Bible - back off, jump around, do a somersault and once your head is on straight - then talk to me again. I am anti-homosexual for other, scientifically based, reasons. Either way - I do not care what someone does in their bedroom - just don't put your personal business in my face and do NOT shove it onto the children or into laws that attempt to force me into thinking my view is wrong.) I do not want to see Sharia law in this country. Freedom of religion is exactly that - FREEDOM to believe as we individually wish to. With Islam - it is their way or the highway. So - they want to destroy our Constitution - in my not so humble opinion, they are traitors and enemies to our country. I tossed a few fireworks - let's see the responses. JD - can you temper this RWEwA female's view on things or ?

minnesotaindependent.com/48280/ellison-scolds-republicans-calling-for-investigation-of-muslim-internsEllison scolds Republicans calling for investigation of Muslim interns By Andy Birkey 10/28/09 8:45 AM On Monday, Rep. Keith Ellison read a statement condemning the actions of four Republican House members who are calling for an investigation of Muslim interns in Congress. The statement was written by Ellison and supported by the Tri-Caucus, a group composed of the Congressional Black Caucus, the Asian Caucus and the Hispanic Caucus. “The idea that we should investigate Muslim interns as spies is a blow to the very principle of religious freedom that our founding fathers cherished so dearly,” said Ellison from the House floor on Monday. “If anything, we should be encouraging all Americans to engage in the U.S. political process; to take part in, and to contribute to, the great democratic experiment that is America.” Reps. John Shadegg, R-Ariz., Sue Myrick. R-N.C., Paul Broun, R-Ga., and Trent Franks, R-Ariz., called for the investigation two weeks ago after reading a book penned by anti-Muslim authors David Gaubatz and Paul Sperry. Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America. Video and full text of Ellison’s statement: Four of our colleagues, Reps. John Shadegg (AZ), Paul Broun (GA), Trent Franks (AZ) and Sue Myrick (NC) recently requested that the House Sergeant at Arms to launch an investigation of the civil rights group CAIR, or Council on American-Islamic Relations, to determine whether it was placing staff and interns in key Congressional offices who they fear are acting as “spies.”
This proposed investigation coincides with the launch of a book by Dave Gaubatz, an anti-Islamic activist and author of the book “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld that’s Conspiring to Islamize America.” It features an introduction by Rep. Myrick, and was written after Gaubatz posed as an intern at CAIR in an effort to “infiltrate” the group.
These charges smack of an America of sixty years ago where lists of “un-American” agitators were identified. We should be affirming the importance of diversity and tolerance for all interns and staff who serve in Congress without suspicion of being identified as “spies.”
The idea that we should investigate Muslim interns as spies is a blow to the very principle of religious freedom that our founding fathers cherished so dearly. If anything, we should be encouraging all Americans to engage in the U.S. political process; to take part in, and to contribute to, the great democratic experiment that is America.
We all have experienced the sting of discrimination and we know that there will be challenges ahead. But our message should be firm that the America we believe in welcomes people of all backgrounds to the U.S. Congress.
We ask these charges be disavowed and we issue a hearty welcome to interns and staff of all creeds, color, ethnicities and sexual orientation.

www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,569635,00.html Report: Florida Man Says Home Depot Fired Him for Wearing 'One Nation Under God' Pin Monday, October 26, 2009 A Florida man says he was fired from his job at The Home Depot for wearing an American flag pin that said "One nation under God, indivisible." Trevor Keezer, 20, said he had worn the button ever since he started working at the home improvement retailer 19 months ago. He said it was his way of supporting U.S. troops, the Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. Keezer, whose brother Army Spc. Steven Keezer Jr. is set to return to Iraq in December, said none of his supervisors had anything negative to say about the pin until last month when he began bringing his bible to work, the paper reported. "That's when I was told it had to come off, or I would be sent home," Keezer told WPTV last week. "So they sent me home for six straight days without pay. And then today they terminated me." Home Depot spokesman Craig Fishel said he could not comment specifically on Keezer's termination but said, “The company’s dress code policy states that we do not allow non-company buttons, regardless of their message or content.” Fishel said The Home Depot has its own sanctioned patriotic pins that employees have the option to wear. Keezer said he opted to wear his own pin instead because none of the company's pins mentioned God. "You can't have country without God," said Keezer, the Sentinel reported.
