On another note which might be considered a similar thread, has anyone yet read the text of the divine O's interview with al-Arabiya? I just read an excerpt, which blames US for OUR lack of empathy and understanding for the "extraordinary and simple folk of the Middle East! Oh my, what bullies we are! But the divine O will shine the light of reason on us meanies!

Lou, I read the Heritage article. What a serious spin that was. Here is an exerpt:
"Obama began by answering a question about the moribund Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations: "Well, I think the most important thing is for the United States to get engaged right away. And George Mitchell is somebody of enormous stature. He is one of the few people who have international experience brokering peace deals." While this response served a political purpose--distancing his Administration's policies from those of the Bush Administration--it grossly misstates the problem."
It is a straw man argument to even imagine that Obama was trying to state the problem. He was building up the credentials of his middle east envoy plain and simple. This is really a prime example of the kind of hit piece that right wing sites are famous for. It reads almost exactly like a WND "article.' Really short on verification and long on speculation, exxageration and generalization. The rest of the article is no better. This was an interview that had multiple purposes. It is not administration policy. If this is where you get your "news" it is no wonder you post the way you do.

George Mitchell was sent on a "listening" tour and exactly what peace agreements did George broker? Straw man?!?! This is the divine O's man in place! Yes I am certain you understand the ramifications of the divine O's first interview!

The realclearpolitics link doesn't work, apparently it has been taken down. The McClatchy link is pretty straightforward and it sounds like "cowboy" diplomacy is dead and a new era emphasizing diplomacy is to begin.Obama is aware that it will be a difficult task;hopefully it will be sucessful but it's like a breath of fresh air compared to the rigid, unsuccessful policies of Bush

Bruce, it really is wonderful to see such blind faith! Hopefully, there will be no pain or regret when said faith dims!

On this topic of radio / limbough, I would like to point out to THOSE who believe the myth of the liberal media. All this last week, MSNBC and CNN has consintently aired very un flatering pieces about the disgraced Blago... Even Rachel Maddow got in on the action. she even interviewed him and let him make a fool of himself...She repeatedly aired her very unflatering opinion about BLAGO during the entire week. Looks like some one forgot to tell MSNBC that BLAGO was a democrat because they threw him under the bus. LIBERAL BIASED MEDIA MY BUTT....

We need to have faith in someone or something. The country id rapidly heading toward a depression. The number of layoffs seems to be increasing exponentially. My neice works at Starbucks on MCRD and was cut from 20 hrs to 9 hrs.A friend is the manager of a Liberty Tax office and last year they couldn't find enough people to work as "Miss Liberty".This year he has far more applicants than slots.Having faith is better than hoping Obama fails as you seem to be.

lou, Did you fall or something? I have seen you have trouble putting together the sequence of events before but lately you are just difficult to converse with. The cease fire Israel announced was done before Obama was sworn in. There are currently no talks being held or scheduled. We were not a part of the Egyptian efforts so there was nothing for Mitchell to do. You really had a lot more patience when it was the Bush administration ignoring everything.
