The headline from the Telegraph reads: "Barack Obama picks a fight with Rush Limbaugh as bipartisan spirit crumbles" www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/barackobama/4331839/Barack-Obama-picks-a-fight-with-Rush-Limbaugh-as-bipartisan-spirit-crumbles.htmlExcerpts: "Mr Obama has told Republicans in Washington to stop listening to the right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh, risking a new culture war with conservative voters." "His exhortation came as he enraged other Republicans by reversing George W Bush's ban on funding international aid to charities that perform or provide information about abortions." ........ "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," Mr Obama said. ......... "A Democratic strategist who has run two presidential campaigns told The Sunday Telegraph: "What can I say? 'Welcome to Washington, Mr President'." ""They knew what to expect but they've had it all their own way for so long that the speed of it may have come as a surprise. The Obama people like a scrap, they've proved that throughout the year, none more than the president. But they know they're in a fight now. And it probably won't let up for eight years."" *************** Is this the start of a serious political battle or is President Obama, like all new Presidents, just attempting to establish his territory and authority? This is the end of a response made by Limbaugh to Byron York: "If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of the trillion dollar debacle." "One more thing, Byron. Your publication and website have documented Obama's ties to the teachings of Saul Alinksy while he was community organizing in Chicago. Here is Rule 13 of Alinksy's Rules for Radicals:" "Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

Rush Limbaugh said on radio he hopes Obama fails. What an unpatriotic thing to say since the country is in dire straits. Why do conservatives pay so much attention to this big blowhard?

bruce,
Many people believe that if President Obama successfully fulfills his campaign promises and stated agenda we will move perilously close to socialism. I have mixed feelings, but think that Obama is doing the same thing that all new Presidents must do to establish themselves firmly at the top of the political food chain. He needs to clearly demonstrate his authority with a few shots across the bows of his political opposition. To me it's reminiscent of President Bush's initial encounters with Sen. Daschle and Rep. Gephart in the early days of his first administration. This is a big boy's pissing contest with serious territory at stake.

I don't remember one, not one Liberal talk radio show hosts EVER saying that Bush should fail........How many times has Hannity said........no one can put down the President because we have "boots on the ground", "troops in harms way"....but now that a Democrat is President, Limbaugh, Hannity and many other Conservo talk radio show morons can say anything they want and are still patriots......kind of like Lori who called herself a patriot. Patriots of EVIL.

Some very interesting information on the Rick Roberts show according to blog; Voice of San Diego.org.
KFMB average listener is white, male and 59 years old.
KOGO's average listener is white and male and 58 years old.
By contrast the average age of FM radio stations is 34 years old.
KOGO out draws KFMB. But the really unique aspect of the report is that Bill Handel of KFI almost out draws both in the morning and John and Ken outdraw both in the evening. They all draw from Conservo hate radio's Limbaugh, Hannity and others.
Not surprising that Conservo hate radio draws a group of white men who are not easily changed, and have little ability of conform to new ideas like the younger generation. As these 60 year olds fade away, the new generation that elected Obama will take over.

VOR,
It's kind of hard to find quotes from liberal talk show hosts, but here are two from Franken at the start of Air America.
The Telegraph, Mar. 2004: "Franken, who claims to be undaunted by the stiff competition he faces from the Right, insists that he will fight fire with fire. "This show is about relentlessly hammering away at the Bush administration until they crack. Because - don't get me wrong, friends - they are going down," he declared yesterday."
The Independent, Mar. 2004: "We are going to stick it to Bush," Mr Franken said as final plans for the network were announced this week. "Bush is going down in November, and then we're putting it to the rest of the right-wing media."

Saying that a President is going down prior to an election is a bit different Jack then saying that he hopes he fails in his first week don't you think?
If Obama fails, the ecconomy could get worse, more jobs lost, more businesses go down, 401K's dwindle.
If Obama fails, it could cost the lives of our military men and put a huge burden on our country.
Its one thing to attack Obama for something he is doing, for his stimulas package, for his closing of Gitmo, all far discussion points. But to cheerlead the failure of a President on political ideology is unAmerican.
Franken was never a critic of America. Franken was a critic of the Bush Administration, just like the 75% of Americans who thiught the country was going the wrong way.
Youre right it is hard to quote Liberal talk show hosts hoping and praying that the country fails.
Liberals did not cheerlead failure in Iraq, no matter what youre led to believe. Liberals fought against us being there but never was not supportive of the military itself.
But when an idiot attacks and asks people and Christians to pray Obama fails, that is not patriotic, it is downright traitorous.
All Liberals wanted Bush to lose in 2004 but nobody wanted him to fail America.
No Liberals wanted this economic crisis. I lost thousands in 401K and my home equity. Fortunately, I had sold my new Murrieta home in 2004 at the peak and was able to invest in some precious metals and then got out of that just in time and now I am in the safety of government bonds for the time being.
Jack, you can be against Obama's politics, but why would you hope any stimulas package would fail? Why would you hope that any foreign policy decisions would fail? Why would anyone want the pullout in Iraq to fail, except so that Democrats would not be reelected in 2010.
If Obama fails, all of us fail. Just as we did with Bush. Bush wasn't alone, all Americans failed when he did.

What has Obama done in his first 100 hours???
So much to make our country a better place to live.
I am finally proud of my country again!!!!!
REGULATIONS
The Bush Record: In his final months, the Bush administration issued a series of “midnight regulations” that gutted safeguards protecting health, safety, the environment, and the public’s general welfare.
Obama’s Clean Break: Hours after his inauguration, Obama ordered a freeze on new regulations at all government agencies and departments and the withdrawal of all final or proposed regulations not yet published in the Federal Register.
IRAQ
The Bush Record: After using false intelligence to launch the war, Bush “surged” 30,000 troops to Iraq in 2007 and vetoed all attempts to end the war.
Obama’s Clean Break: Two days into his presidency, Obama called on U.S. military leaders to start to plan for a responsible withdrawal.
DIPLOMACY
The Bush Record: In his first term, Bush — in contrast to President Bill Clinton — “generally avoided robust efforts” to resolve the Middle East conflict. Bush demeaned diplomacy with “terrorists and radicals,” likening it to the “appeasement” of Nazi Germany.
Obama’s Clean Break: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton rejected the “rigid ideology” of Bush and pledged to exercise “smart power.” Stressing diplomacy, Obama and Clinton “appointed high-level emissaries to handle the Arab-Israeli issue and Pakistan and Afghanistan.”
TORTURE
The Bush Record: Torture began with the drafting of a secret legal memo holding that Bush could authorize interrogators to violate anti-torture laws. Bush’s senior-most officials approved torture that, in some cases, lead to death.
Obama’s Clean Break: Obama signed executive orders ending the CIA’s secret prisons and ending torture by requiring interrogations to abide by the Army Field Manual.
GUANTANAMO
The Bush Record: Bush created the “legal black hole” that is Guantanamo Bay. He called the harsh treatment of detainees there “an absurd allegation” and was rebuked time and again by the Supreme Court.
Obama’s Clean Break: On his first day, Obama signed an executive order closing Gitmo in one year and suspended all military tribunals for six months.
TRANSPARENCY
The Bush Record: Two out of five FOIA requests filed in 2006 were not processed. The number of exemptions increased 83 percent since 1998.
Obama’s Clean Break: Obama issued new orders instructing all agencies to “adopt a presumption in favor” of FOIA requests. Obama is developing an “Open Government Directive” over the next four months.
REVOLVING DOOR
The Bush Record: Many former Bush officials “joined the ranks of the companies they once regulated where they are highly compensated. In many instances, they have helped their new employers obtain lucrative government grants and contracts.”
Obama’s Clean Break: Obama laid out stringent lobbying limits that will ban aides from trying to influence the administration when they leave his staff and will ban gifts from lobbyists to anyone in the administration.
WOMEN’S RIGHTS
The Bush Record: Bush reinstated the Global Gag Rule, which prohibited aid from going toward any organization that mentioned abortion as an option in family planning. Sixteen countries lost access to birth control.
Obama’s Clean Break: Obama overturned the Gag Rule on Jan. 23

What is Rush Limbaugh's agenda???
Is it for the best America we can be??
Or is it for a Conservative America despite the terrible things (the last 8 years prove it). that come with conservatism.
So the real reason Limbaugh is against the Obama stimulus is because its success could hurt GOP’s electoral chances.
On Friday, when President Obama met with congressional leaders from both parties to discuss his economic recovery and reinvestment program, he told GOP leaders, “You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done.” Asked for a response by National Review yesterday, Limbaugh said that Obama’s “plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters.” He added that passage of the stimulus bill would hurt Republicans electorally:
Obama’s plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party, in the same way FDR’s New Deal established majority power for 50 years of Democrat rule, and it would also simultaneously seriously damage any hope of future tax cuts. It would allow a majority of American voters to guarantee no taxes for themselves going forward. It would burden the private sector and put the public sector in permanent and firm control of the economy. Put simply, I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing “eternal” power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy.
Limbaugh’s argument echoes former Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell’s recent claim that Obama’s stimulus plan “could create a major electoral advantage for Democrats at taxpayer expense.” “Creating 600,000 new jobs might help cement Virginia in the Democrat column, making it harder for Republicans to retake the White House,” said Blackwell.
Thats right Conservos, we would rather let Obama fail so Republicans can be elected then acting as Americans and backing his plan. So just that type of reasoning is why I am VOR, Vote out Republcians.

As I see the issue, Obama should not instruct the American public who they should listen to. If people want to listen to Rush, if they want to believe Rush, that is their right and the president does not have a right to order otherwise.
I became aware of Rush in the early to mid 90’s and since have not listened to more than 90 seconds, so I have no first hand knowledge, I do not know what station he is on.
I have not been able to find an audio of the Rush comment “I want Obama to fail,” if anyone has that link please post it.
When Air America was on 1360 I listened and heard just as much hate, just as vile as the other side. It’s what they do, people sort out what they want to hear, keep some, disregard some.

CM.
Unfortunately, RUSH and the rest of talk radio, Hanity, SAvage, Roberts. etc have taken hold of the new GOP talking point.
The are echoing their support for Obama's failure, even going so far stating Obama will turn America into a communist country...
Isnt that stupid an misleading? IMO.
They want Obama to fail, meaning America as well...just for cheap political partisan reasons,,,none having anything to do with helping our country.
Anyone can listen and see this in just 5 minutes of listening,,, I don't blame you for not wasting your time listening to the GOP echo machine,,,but unfortunately, the GOP base does listen and most of them hold up that garbage as gospel..
SCARY>>>>>
Talk Radio basically is targeted at the worst segment of America, IMO, the radical, closed minded, uninformed group of people that are looking to blame anyone but themselves and their party for what is wrong with America.
Just that fact that most of them voted for Pallin proves to me they really don't care about America, they only care for their sacred Republican Party...

Ok CM, like Obama told Republicans....I'm trying but the bottom line is Conservos are the minority and they didn't win. You can work with me, or be obstructionists and work against me. But at the end of the day, Obama is going to get his way on everything....because he won and they didn't. Thats all that counts. Republicans are irrelevant.
