A clue to the answer of this question may lie in the answer to another question I had: How would the world react to a President Trump? Well, apparently it looks like pretty much business as usual, which is probably the same as it would have reacted if Hillary had been elected. Perhaps to the world the difference between a Republican or a Democrat is not all that much, even if it seems so important to us.

Well, apparently it looks like pretty much business as usual, which is probably the same as it would have reacted if Hillary had been elected. Perhaps to the world the difference between a Republican or a Democrat is not all that much, even if it seems so important to us. On the world stage the change would be slow, regardless of who became President. Unless, of course, they take us into war! Hillary would likely have taken us into a NEW field of combat and little change as to ISIS! With exception of George W. Bush taking us into Iraq, it has been Democrats leading us into wars! And all indications were that had Al Gore won that election, he would have taken us into Iraq! There is plenty of documented evidence that the Democrats were supporting a war with Iraq long before that election! The real issue is the changes within our country! Obama set back race relations almost to the late 50's, help develop a black racist (Black Lives Matters) group not unlike the shrinking KKK and has destroyed much of the relationships with our allies. President Duterte of the Philippines is ready to court the Chinese because of Obama. Hillary would not have changed much in these regards and would have continued the attacks on our Constitution. With the pick of the Supreme Court, she would have had much power to continue Obama's destruction and add some of her own! President-elect Trump was elected because the people hope and believe he can reverse the course of this country for its own good! Save the Constitution and restore respect to the police and our government. Not a small job as many will oppose him before they even know what he intends to do. Just look at the PAID protestors and their followers who fear their free ticket may be taken away and they will have to WORK!

I changed the name of this thread to more accurately frame my question. I know the President matters, I'm just wondering if it really matters who is President.

Just look at the PAID protestors and their followers who fear their free ticket may be taken away and they will have to WORK! You said something I have said to some of my Democrat friends who thought I was wrong to vote for Nader in 2000. When they say Gore wouldn't have invaded Iraq, I ask them how can they know that? After 9/11, the American people wanted some kind of revenge, and Gore would of had to do SOMETHING. Which leads to my question of if it really matters who is President. Sadly, I understand the hope millions of voters put on a Trump Presidency, but my perception of him is that he is a huge fraud. I'm not sure he is mentally stable enough to withstand the pressures of the Presidency, but of course that is a totally subjective opinion. Which indicates that it DOES matter who is President.

Here's another piece of the puzzle: Millions of Hispanic voters did not show up at the polls on November 8. Is it because they don't think it matters who is President?

President-elect Trump is awesome! He hasn't even taken office and Wall Street and the business world are having orgasms of anticipation. Visions of plum profits are dancing in their heads, I guess because the expectations of deregulation and other "business friendly" Trump policies. It's going to be a free-for-all for corporate America! Global Warming? Who cares?

I think I found an answer to the question I asked when I started this thread in another thread, when I said how boring it would have been if it was Hillary who was going to be inaugurated on Jan. 20. Clearly Putin and the FBI thought it made a difference too.

www.nationalreview.com/article/443612/f-35-donald-trump-should-cancel-failed-f-35-fighter-jet-program"The failed F-35 fighter-jet program can’t be fixed — it’s time to turn the page. Our incoming president’s willingness to boldly challenge the status quo is arguably the main reason he was elected. And no defense project is more representative of a disastrous status quo than the 20-year-old Joint Strike Fighter program — the F-35. The F-35 program showcases all that is wrong about our military’s vendor-dominated, crony-capitalist procurement system. Unless dealt with decisively, its massive cost and its lack of capability will have a dramatically negative impact on our military’s effectiveness for decades to come." Here's another example of who is President makes a difference. If Hillary was our next Prez, I sincerely think she would not have the balls to cancel the F-35. Can you imagine the firestorm of criticism she would have to have endured if she had? She would be called a traitor and worse for "weakening America's defense". She probably would have faced impeachment. But if TRUMP cancels the F-35 (and I still think the chances are slim), what are you going to hear from the right-wing media? Crickets.
