Has Weinergate blown over yet? America's short attention span should kick in any day now.

Ah, this is one of those days I don't feel like commenting on things I don't know about. Which is, of course, everything. I'll get over it.

Back on the beach, after being spanked again. What was I thinking? What do I care what Zonies call a dust storm?

PHOENIX - During coverage of the massive dust storm that hit the Valley Tuesday night , you might have picked up on a new word -- haboob. So why don't we just say dust storm? ABC15 meteorologist Amber Sullins says haboob is the correct technical term for what happened, and that term has been around for quite some time. In a YouTube video from Arizona State University , geophysical sciences professor Randy Cerveny gives a "haboob" history lesson. "A lot of the original terms for dust storm mechanics and the types of things that we see during dust storms was originally discovered by the British when they were in charge of the Middle East and they used local terms very often to describe these things," Cerveny explained. "So Arabic terms like haboob have gotten applied to dust storm events in general." We're not the only country outside of the Middle East to use the term. Australia also uses it to describe their dust storms. www.abc15.com/dpp/weather/weather_news/dust-storm-or-haboob-history-of-the-weather-term

With a total lack of countervailing evidence for a indigenous term, I guess I'm out of gas on this issue. Arizona, enjoy your haboobs...

Ah, it's the second day of the big comic book convention on the island, and one thing I've noticed is how amazingly politics free it is. I guess young people feel no reason to care...yet. Perhaps they want to get away from it here. Or maybe they just don't know who to blame. Oh well...

I think nikki hit my apathy switch. I'm sure she'll get a medal from the rest of you. My apathy is not helped by the whole debt debate. Is this really all the West has to worry about? How governments will pay back all the money they have borrowed from the banks? Reminds me of what I used to say to people who complained about taxes: If that's all you have to worry about, you have no real problems.

JD, one moment you are on the edge of your seat and now you are apathetic? Why?
If the sugar cane is more than 5 feet tall, harvest it. Abuelo could use some serious competition.

Oh, come on, JD, you lost your appetite and stomped your feet and sucked your blankie and made a, yet again, self-imposed exile to your own island, for what, a day? All because of lil 'ole me? Poor, baby. I have no doubt you will survive your little tantrum to post again. Life's tough for trolls. My guess is you are having a very hard time since this site banned your favorite term -- TB'ers.

Once again, a rightie rewriting history...I was one of the first, if not the first, in here to reject and DELETE the TB term. Still, I get labeled a troll, but such is life. And hey, an entire day of no posts is hard work for a political addict like me. But as you say, I'll get over it. You should be proud you slowed me down for a day. But I did get you to follow me all the way to my island...
