There is a price to pay, whether it is burning oil rigs or suffocated coal miners. Perhaps this is why some of us are so insistent on prioritizing conservation over increased production.

There is a price to pay, whether it is burning oil rigs or suffocated coal miners. Perhaps this is why some of us are so insistent on prioritizing conservation over increased production. It is not a matter of prioritizing the conservation over production. We have conserved so much water - they are raising the rates to make up for the money loss. We have conserved so much electricity - they are raising the rates to make up for the money loss. Utilizing natural resources is far wiser than utilizing man made products. Natural resources degrade biologically. You greenies want to make fake things - which will ultimately hurt the environment more. Each and every day we are discovering how the extreme stances of the left is actually hurting our planet far more than that which they pound against. Should people be gluttonous - no. Should they have access to what they need - yes. Do you have a right to tell a family not to drive a SAFE SUV to transport their kids to various activities - NO! You try to fit a bunch of kids (remember - many families car pool not because of gas savings, it is sharing of tasks amongst families for a variety of reasons) into a prius with all of the music equipment, sports equipment, change of clothing, etc. Also, when that prius gets into a wreck with the kids - let's see who survives vs who survives in a SUV wreck with.

If they did not drill in many locations - you would not see gorgeous landscapes, beautiful beaches, reserves and forests and plains - healthy and abundant.
Where oil wells have been capped off in the oceans - marine life is flourishing.
Excess oil is not good for the earth.
Thus, drilling actually helps.

I once read that people driving SUV's death rate is no lower than any in other vehicle, but the death rate of passengers in regular cars involved in accidents with SUV's was much higher. Is it true? I have no idea, but I know that rollover accidents are much higher in SUV's. But I'm a libertarian on this, so buy whatever floats your boat. And the environmentalists have been wrong about some stuff, but I think they have been right more often than their opponents.

Although one thing I do agree with and actually approve of ... (as if my approval really matters lol)... Gluttony, laziness and slovenliness are not healthy for an individual, their domicile or the public environment. Littering, buying throw away, cheap stuff, overbuying because one can - that is injurious. So the fact that more people are cleaning up after themselves - this is great. Hopefully more will figure out that the rest of us are not their mommies and it is not our task to clean up after them - that they have a responsibility.

Actually - look up Santa Barbara. That used to be an oil filled mess. Look at farm lands that had oil holes that poisoned the waters and land. Look at the oil rigs in the ocean - they are great for marine growth. Look at the pipes in Alaska - that provide a warmth that has actually assisted in enhancing the population growth of Caribou. All is a google search away and has been posted on these forums as well.

If we lived our lives in constant fear, we would have never went to the moon.... or the deepest oceans.... highest mountains..... we would be like canada. No wonder past generations laugh and us now.... or worry.

Who said anything about fear? I'm just talking about an objective analysis of the costs vs. benefits of big increases in production.
