I probably won't see any difference as all my income is retirement and this year I'll be 65 and so won't pay taxes any more.

Today is a work day, so I'm just catching bits and pieces of the news. So far it is not sounding good.
4.6% base increase > 250k
Phase out deductions that will raise taxes 2%
I have not heard yet if the cap on FDIC will be removed.
Glenn (sometimes speaks facts) Beck said the top 2% (those making > 250k) wage earners pay 62% of the taxes. They will get hit the hardest.

Today, I received the below email from a friend, anyone know something about this? I think all of us, regardless of your political affiliations, have to be concerned with the direction of our country and the impact of all this tax and spend is going to have for decades to come. Today throughout the country concerned citizens are holding a “Boston Tea Party” to protest the current tax and spend. In San Diego it is at the Star of India. FYI the WaPo is the Washington Post a very liberal newspaper who is now questioning the Obama administrations plan.

I heard about the Tea Party at the Star of India. Unfortunately it is today between 9:00 am and 10:00 am.
I sure would have liked to be there. Then again, I suppose I should consider myself lucky. I am pretty angry at Obama and Congress.
I think I'd be in jail just about....
now.

Was watching kabc yesterday morning and they had 6 expert in different areas to asses obamas proposals. Being supportive of the pres station I exspected only pro admin stuff. They started with a real extate advisor and he commended obamas efforts so far then the 5 remaining hammered him and said he would be negative for the nation. The anchor wasnt ready for it. Either they didnt prepare or they are starting to question our new course.

Hundreds Turn out for Anti-Tax 'Tea Party'www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/Hundreds-Turn-out-for-Anti-Tax-Tea-Party.htmlSan Diego's waterfront was crawling with rebellious Republicans Friday morning. About 350 protesters showed up at the Embarcadero, just north of the Star of India, at about 9 a.m. for the protest. The event was was organized by Dawn Wildman of the Neighborhood Republican Club, whose members are upset about the new taxes that were written into law last week as part of a budget deal carved out in Sacramento as well as the giant stimulus package coming out of Washington. "We are standing up for ourselves, voicing our displeasure with our representation in Washington, in Sacramento," Wildman said. "We're tired of being taxed without adequate representation." The budget deal was necessary to plug a $42 billion hole. The plan cuts $15.1 billion from programs, primarily education, and raises $12.8 billion in revenue, mostly through increases in the sales tax, personal income tax and vehicle license fee. Protesters tossed large clear plastic bags -- stuffed with shredded paper -- into the harbor. The bags has strings attached that were used to retrieve them later.

Damn. Sure would have liked to be there.
Well, at least I have the opportunity this coming Tuesday to voice my displeasure to a couple of Representatives at a conference in DC. This is after they give the news about how much money is going to be cut from the defense budget.

This is the tip of the iceberg. I was unaware this event was even scheduled. It may be premature to organize the masses but I bet it will happen.
A similar event was held in Nashville, TN. Obama may keep his promise and not raise taxes on the middle class but if deductions are slowly stripped away in essence it has the same effect.
We are told the market is not a good measure for a recovering economy, well I disagree. I understand it will take time, that is obvious, but if investors had any faith in the spending (oops…. stimulus) bill the market's rapid slide would subside.
Now experts are saying the DOW will below 6,000 and eventually settle between 3,000 and 4,000. When we hear there is $200,000 for tattoo removal in the spending bill it is no wonder investors have no faith.

I talked to an ex employee of unemployment office who said those whos benefits have expired are not counted as unemployed anymore. Anyone whos good at research is this possible?
If the market is no indicator why does it get sick everytime obama opens his mouth.

The market goes up and down on all sorts of inane events and speculation.Particularly Wall Street fears the unknown. The bulk of the drop occured under Busch.Just today a large company(can't recall which) announced latoffs of 10,000 and their stock went up.I fail to see how 10,000 more unemployed is good.I believe it is correct that those who used up their unemployment are not counted as unemployed, nor are those who lost their jobs and not eligible for benefits. Most of you on this site are way off from mainstream thought.Odd,on the days it went up recently, the president had nothing to do with it,but when it's down he "opened his mouth"!!

Dale, This is not new. The definition of unemployed, since even before Reagan, is people who are not working but are seeking employment. If the government does not think you are actively seeking employment than they consider it more of a lifestyle choice than a reflection of the job market (I kind of threw the lifestyle part in there but basically that is the definition).

The GNP declined a stunning 6.2% during the last quarter of 2008.California's unemployment rate is10.1%.Grocery chains have more foot-traffic but sell less as people "trade down".This is looking more like a depression than a recession. It's so bad that illegal immigrants are heading home.Yet all the naysayers are chipping away, complaining about every thing instead of helping the stimulus succeed.Luckily the democrats are in charge and have the people behind them.Forcing the banks to lend the money they receive is correct and the banker's gripes fall on deaf ears.
