It ain't "made up". There has been much criticism of "Avatar" from the right. There isn't from FOX News because it is not in the interest of the company paying their salaries. Comprende? Je ne vous comprends ! Vous êtes plein de merde !

Well, I suppose we adults will not fall for the tree-hugger message in "Avatar", we know what it's really about: Making big bucks for Fox Studios. But I wonder if it will affect young people. Could it possibly spawn a new generation of Enviro-wackos? I can dream, can't I?

theenvelope.latimes.com/la-en-cameron10-2010feb10,0,1912811.story Poor Murdoch has to put up with this because the lefties have the talent and make the money in Hollywood. "I think there's something amazingly satisfying when the hammerheads come out of the forest and start mowing down all the bad security enforcers," Cameron says, referring to the movie's climactic creatures-versus-humans battle sequence. "Nature gets to fight back. It's 'Death Wish' for environmentalists. When did nature ever get to fight back in a movie?" "It was a medicine that 20th Century Fox executives tried to talk Cameron out of administering. When they read Cameron's screenplay, the reaction, according to the director, was: "We really like the story. It's great. But, well, is there a way to not have so much of this tree-hugging, 'Ferngully' stuff in it?" I said, 'Not with me making it,' " "But, during dinner, he circles back several times to the idea that he's somehow anti-military because of the way he depicts the corporate military contractors -- " Blackwater types," he calls them -- in "Avatar." The director repeatedly expresses his support for the armed forces, noting his Marine brother's service in Kuwait and professing deep respect for the sense of teamwork, duty and service that he believes form the heart of the Marine Corps."

I have no desire to see that movie or anything on the order of it but from all the young folks in my family and friends crowd the last thing they realize is there is a message in it! They just love the animation now known as digital imaging! Most of them agree the movie must be watched in 3-D so you need a theatre with the projection system and those funky Buddy Hollie looking Geek glasses to enjoy it fully, I guess...
For those of us who pay attention to something other than the latest gadget to spend $$$ on Hollywood has messengered our society from the beginning with "Progressive Liberal BS" and that is not going to change as long as there are folks willing to pay money to see the crap they produce.
Just for the discussion... my last paid movie experience was "Top Gun" befoe I found out Kelli McGillis was a lesbo. Too bad she missed a really good shot at being normal.

Potentially verses Realistically!
A young boy went up to his father and asked him, 'Dad, what is the difference between 'potentially' and 'realistically'?'
The father thought for a moment, then answered, 'Go ask your mother if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. Then ask your sister if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars, and then ask your brother if he'd sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars.
Come back and tell me what you learn from that.'
So the boy went to his mother and asked, Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?'
The mother replied, 'Of course I would! We could really use that money to fix up the house and send you kids to a great University!'
The boy then went to his sister and asked, 'Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?' The girl replied, 'Oh my Gawd! I LOVE Brad Pitt I would sleep with him in a heartbeat, are you nuts?'
The boy then went to his brother and asked, 'Would you sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars?' 'Of course,' the brother replied. 'Do you know what a million bucks would buy?'
The boy pondered the answers for a few days and then went back to his dad.
His father asked him, 'Did you find out the difference between 'potentially' and 'realistically'?'
The boy replied, 'Yes, 'Potentially', you and I are sitting on three million dollars .
But 'realistically', we're living with two hookers and a fag.'

Starring opposite Tom 'lift in the loafers, my wrist is broken and I'm a Prima Donna" Cruise? She had more substance than Cruise. I think she was assaulted in '82 by an escaped rapist - then to star with a neutered male, I can ____almost___ see why.

Uh oh. The son never asked the father if HE would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. I sure would, because all that would happen WOULD be sleep. One look at me naked and Brad Pitt would be sleeping on the floor and having nightmares.

I did not intend to watch Avatar, but my wife wanted me to take her and her sister to watch it (in 3D no less). It was a great movie to watch as far as the special effects, etc. I knew about the message that was "supposed" to be within the movie but it didn't take long to forget about it. The play out of the movie follows so many movies before it that the message was scrambled. It was a typical cowboys & indians situation that has been repeated in movies for so long that they have been doing "space" movies like this since the '70's. A company wants something, someone else has it and isn't (usually) using it, the company is going to get it through any means even if it has to use the military to get it. That was the one part I disliked about the movie. They made no effort to make the "security force" appear to be contractors like Blackwater, etc. It was clear that they were U.S. military from the very beginning! The whole movie was so much fantasy that it lost connection with reality, even when trying to carry the message of protecting the environment. Or, as in this case, the mining of Unobtanium! That is what they were mining for! To guarantee that the message slips through, they include a very short line that did not need to be in the movie at all. That was a reference that the company came from a world that killed it's own planet. (or something to that effect) It was set up very quickly as to who the "good guys" and who the "bad guys" were and the movie followed that script. Yes, when the hammerheaded Rhinoceros looking beasts came charging everyone cheered. It was a good guys overcoming the more powerful bad guys scene! Therefore a typical response. The reports I read that stated people felt depressed after watching that movie because of the high from the natural beauty of the world and peace among the native peoples is quite surprising. I don't know where they come up with such crap! The message of environmentalism is contained more in the off screen spin mills than it is contained within the movie. It is there, but the story itself overpowers the meager message. Note about studios getting money from the movie sales: The first week the studios get a large majority of each ticket sale. While the ticket price usually maintains the same price, each week the studio gets less percentage and the theatres get more. The independent theatres overtake the studios percentages as the movie runs longer. Thus theatres actually enjoy longer running movies. After about 4 weeks, the studios get very little of the ticket and the theatre keeps almost all of it. So, aside from avoiding the long lines, crowds, etc. if you wait a while you will also help the local movie theatre make more money.
