I guess there are a lot of people who think like you. So Hollywood will become a sanctuary for people on my side of the cultural divide. Works for me!

www.nytimes.com/2018/05/29/business/media/roseanne-barr-offensive-tweets.html?&hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region®ion=top-news&WT.nav=top-news"Two months ago, Roseanne Barr was a star again. Her sitcom “Roseanne” returned in March after a two-decade absence to enormous ratings on ABC. Network executives were celebrating their strategy of appealing to wider swaths of the country after Donald J. Trump’s surprising election win and the president himself called Ms. Barr to congratulate her on the show’s large audience. But on Tuesday, that all came crashing down. ABC abruptly canceled “Roseanne” hours after Ms. Barr, the show’s star and co-creator, posted a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, an African-American woman who was a senior adviser to Barack Obama throughout his presidency and considered one of his most influential aides. Ms. Barr wrote if the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.” Ms. Barr later apologized, but it was too late. In announcing the show’s cancellation, ABC’s entertainment president, Channing Dungey, said in a statement that “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.”
Gosh, she had a good thing going, until she ruined it with a deplorable tweet. I thought she was smart enough to know which side of the cultural divide she needed to kiss the ass of in Hollywood. I'm sure the white working class Trumpers who were her fans are feeling more persecuted (and paranoid) than ever.

Was at the movies today and all the trailers were about movies with guns. Of course it was a showing of "The Hitman's Bodyguard 2" but still, Hollywood is obsessed with guns, so how could anyone call them anti-American? And three out of four TV shows are cop shows. Boomers, who are now running Hollywood, have always been obsessed with crime.

I'm still wondering how Hollywood can be accused of being anti-American (whatever that is) when it adores guns so much?

You have to feel sorry for Hollywood (actually you don’t), where the bottom line is the real bottom line and they will try to pander to 5e whims of the ticket buying populace. For instance, “The Eternals” got a lot of flak for its “wokeness”, and did not do well in the box office. Is it Trump who said “Woke means broke”? So now that woke has become a pejorative, I expect Hollywood to start producing more movies with rural “values”. Which is a problem since Hollywood tends to attract woke artistic types to work there, and the non-woke become truckers. The is a lot of gloating on the right at the decline of people who watch the Oscars, as they assume this is a barometer of public attitude. So if the trucker types are rejecting cinema, what is their alternative? Joe Rogan, I guess. And don’t worry, Hollywood will probably not get over its love of guns. War movies usually do well.

Saw “Top Gun 2”. This movie goes against the mythology that Hollywood hates America. Even if it a throwback to the Reagan eighties, I suppose “Bladerunner 2049” could be considered the same (are they both sci fi? I think a case could be made). But I can’t say anything negative about a film that treats an ailing actor with such affection.

So the Oscars are coming. Once again, no one will watch them but why should Hollywood care? Anyway, you can be sure Top Gun Maverick will get none. I wouldn’t give it one either but, but that is moot. The thing is, the movie getting the most nominations is “Everything, Everywhere, All At Once”, which is probably the most woke movie ever, and will totally offend the Unwoke Masses. Another point in its favor. By the way, I heard a commentator say the polls show while the Democrats are evenly divided on wokeness, Republicans are 100% opposed. Sorry, geezers, but I suspect younger people are solidly in favor of it.

I sure hope “Everything…” doesn’t win best picture tomorrow even though I think it will. It pretty much encapsulates everything the Unwoke Masses hate about Hollywood. Personally, I remember it as the buttplug movie, but whatever. Awards are stupid in the arts anyway IMHO. How can you really compare “Everything…” and “Top Gun 2”?

So “Everything…” won best picture. Let the hair pulling from the right wing culture warriors begin. You know secretly they really love it.

I saw “Oppenheimer” and I would recommend it. Is it anti-American? In the eye of the beholder.

The Academy Awards are upon us, and I hear they are taking extra precautions in the face of possible pro-Palestinian protests. A big anti-Hollywood riot would be THE BEST!

No riots at the Oscars. What fun is that?
