We have time for one night a week. If the Aztecs are at home our one night is football, otherwise we’re just too damn busy. So our one night is usually dinner.

Do you think anybody will go see it? I don't know. A lot of conservatives seem to avoid the theaters. I think it might be some kind of badge of honor on the right to say you haven't been to the movies in many years. Well, when was the last time you went to a theatre? My wife went last Saturday and we go at least once a month but seldom more than twice. The movies are of her choosing (she knows what I dislike) and we often take our grandson when the ratings are permissible. Like animal, I dislike movies that play up a political/environmental/moral slant. I seldom go on opening week and often wait about a month. The theatre gets more of the money AND the theatres are usually sparsely attended. No neighbors to bother you etc. If we have extra time, we might get a DVD from Blockbuster Express for $1.00. We can pick one or two up and take them with us when we travel and drop them off at another machine.

It was the impression I was getting from people I had talked to, but I would be pleased to find I was mistaken, and conservatives and liberals avoid the movies at the same rate.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-11617860I find this inspiring also...local citizens and politicians begging a big US corporation to stay in their country. Groveling is always pleasant to watch, while the corporation plays one country against another. God, oh I mean corporations, give and corporations take away. Not that I feel sorry for New Zealand in any way: these jobs were outsourced from Hollywood to begin with. But you know those damned Unions, corporations have to be fleet on their feet to avoid them and continue to underpay their help. You know, I've always felt the message of LOTR was how power, in the form of the rings, corrupts everyone it touches. And then I look at the power of Warner Brothers and other corporations...

Obama bends over for his muslims buddies. Wow, that was a stretch...on more than one level. "muslim buddies"? That's just silly.

www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-pn-boxer-spoof-20101026,0,5308466.story "Filmmaker David Zucker, of “Airplane” and “Naked Gun” fame, is a former liberal who says he is embarrassed about his $5,000 in contributions to Sen. Barbara Boxer over the years. A Republican since 2004, he’s created a two-minute spoof aimed at her perceived weak spots: arrogance and humorlessness."
