This is a thread for us more mature posters who have outgrown that silly porn stuff that you youngsters like. Yes, it's all about the glory of your Golden Years, whatever that means. So put down that golf club and start posting! What is it you most like about being a senior citizen? Is there anything negative about it? Don't be shy! OK, your helper will now wheel you back to your room...

Hard questions. Geez I don’t know. If I drink too much wine I’ll feel awful the next day, 20 years ago I wouldn’t remember the next day. The ocean water gets colder every year, in spite of Al Gore’s hot air. I fall asleep early and get up before the sun, never take a nap afraid I’ll miss out on something.
I do think about quality of life but quality requires discipline and one hell of a lot of luck.

People hate old people. Old people are dull. Old people are not sexy. And worst of all they drive slow. And never get behind an old person in the supermarket check-out line.

People hate old people. Old people are dull. Old people are not sexy. And worst of all they drive slow. And never get behind an old person in the supermarket check-out line. That is a Liberal's view of Old people. Conservatives see them as possesors of Wisdom and much needed sharing! We seek them in line at the super market to hear them tell of food rationing and giving up sugar for the troops, besides it is an "Opportunity" to extend a helping hand to someone truely in need and usually appreciative which is nutrition to a conservative! Liberals see them as using up space at the doctor and costing them free benefits so put them out to pasture is disguise for put them under pasture. CM is older than I and works physically harder than I but shares the fruits of his labor with many. I pray for us both that we have many years of falling to sleep early to rise early and continue to provide opportunity to others!

OK, Jg, you caught me in a late night tongue-in-cheek moment, but I will accept you rebuke like a man. The rest of what you said was inspirational, actually, and I appreciate your perspective on old folks. I have to work on your view of liberals, though, but that may be a lost cause.

OK, fair enough. Anyway old age is good. At 64 yrs and 11 months I am enjoying life more than ever, despite somewhat limited finances. 4 to 5 days a week I spend a 2-3 hours at the Starbucks with my brother. Been asked a couple times "How long have you two been together?" and we get embarrassed looks when I reply " All our lives". And I've become a gamer. I play "Bricks of Egypt"(3 versions), "Peggle" and "Peggle Nights", "Strike Ball 3", "Magic Ball2", and "Zuma". My grandkids love it that grandpa is "cool". I'm better off financially than 90% of the people in the building, particularly those who are on state programs. My biggest worry, an emergency room visit, disappears August 1st when I go on Medicare. Being the "computer king" in the building is laughable with less than a year on the internet and PC, I'm also called on to hook up DVD players and cable boxes. I don't mind at all. These are the best years of my life in many ways. My health(diabetes and hypertension) are under control. My biggest worry is trying to get you righties to see reality, but I guess that is hopeless. Happy 4th of July to all. I'll be pretty busy the next two days, arranging for the building BBQ, having it at noon, and then going to my sisters at 3 for the family get together.

Bruce, I wouldn't worry too much about trying to straighten us out - it ain't gonna happen. I'm glad that you're enjoying the "Golden Years" and have your health concerns in check. I just got good news on my last CT Scan so it looks like I'll be around yanking your chain for a long time to come. Enjoy the holiday. Jack

Jack is right, bruce, we aren't going to straighten them out. Nor will they change our views...I think. That's not the point of all this in my opinion, it's to communicate what we believe for the sake of understanding. And to have some fun in our OLD AGE...certainly we need it. Feeling useful also helps.
