Fortunately, I've been lucky enough (or my wife has been stupid enough) that I don't have an ex wandering around. From what I've heard it's not much fun... Now you know why she made me give up all my guns when we married...Had I known things would be very different today ;D Not really she is a very sweet Red Head that was really misguided and now that she is living in Oregon the world is Right again!

I just heard through my son that his grandfather, my ex-father-in-law, passed away yesterday. He was old-ish and was suffering from colon cancer. What killed him was a colonoscopy. Apparently, the metal snake with the fiber optic on the end perforated the colon and nicked his bladder. I won't go into details... he passed quietly and quickly.
While it's fun to make fun of an ex, it is actually great to have one that you can call a friend. Sorrows, like joys, are meant to be shared. Getting older allows one to realize that.
I expect to catch some hell this Thanksgiving. I never pass up an opportunity to crack a joke about my ex, nor she about me. Knowing her, she'll be needing that about then.

UGH - what a horrid way to die. Poor man. My condolences.

Sorry to hear about your ex-father-in-law passing away. One of the only reasons I stayed married to my ex-wife for so long was because of how much I liked hanging around with her dad. Too bad that you can't pick and choose or mix and match your in-laws.

So much truth in that and I too hold them close even though it is a constant test of my "last nerve" which is all I have to say to cease the jabbin at gatherings... SOme truths need to be preserved and when conversation-jokin gets too close to exposure someone has to close the door! I make a good doorman! My ex and her husband are "casual friends at best" but her parents are still in town and we continue to dislike her with unison so all is good.

Condolences on the loss yes, but I am among the lucky who have retained the in-laws and joined them in sending off the trouble maker In fact we just confirmed Thanksgiving with all the kids and grandparents (in-laws) who are the only living grandparents!

www.nytimes.com/2010/02/02/opinion/02brooks.htmlReally? The Baby Boomer generation, more than happy to borrow up the ying-yang to pay for their non-stop partying, ginormous mega-mansions, and endless shopping sprees, not to mention useless and unnecessary wars, is suddenly going to come to their senses and become concerned citizens? I doubt it seriously. They don't care WHAT happens as long as no one raises their taxes (Think California). Hear me, Tea Partyers?

Interesting analysis if one looks at the crowd at the tea parties... what do you think the median age is? I did see lots of boomers at the kick off here in San Diego!

If I implied the Tea Partyers were not Boomers that was a mistake. What I was trying to imply was that after their spending orgy of the 90's and 00's, I was doubting the Boomers were ready change their ways and pay for their sins, Tea Parties or not. They just want no new taxes no matter what.

They just want no new taxes no matter what. You assume that EVERY boomer was as misguided as yourself. Many of the boomers were smart, thrifty and successful. They did not put themselves into debtor's hall. Yet - they are forced to pay for your section of boomers. The spend till it is no more and spend some more - just to keep up with the jonesies.
