I truly want to believe Obama meant nothing of his comment, but I am the grandfather of a special needs kid. The struggles are beyond compare, my daughter is truly a saint, I don’t know if I could do it. So when there is a remark of any kind targeting special needs children it is a large grain of sand in my eye. I just got done listening to Obama's press conference - the guy babbled, stumbled and was pretty much just cking out old campaign talking points. It was a waste of time and now requires a bunch of MSM pundits to try and explain just what it was that he said.

I think there was a disconnect tonight. He failed to resonate with the everyday folks. Slam the 1% but the 1% pays 50% of the bill. Same old talking points.
Zogby has him down to 50% Rasmussen at 56% approval. His problem is himself, too many promises, high expectation and little change. Obama is his worst enemy.

I think it is more that he has no business in assuming the responsibility. He's a kid. He is a well polished kid. He has chosen kids for his cabinet, with perhaps one exception. I would add that he is a kid that lives in a dream world that many young people live. Many of us probably had more liberal beginnings in our earlier days experiencing politics and the heady rush of "being part of something big, really big, man!". I know some have grown out of it. I am not talking about democrats that care. I am talking about those that care about nothing more than a dream that departs from reality. Barrack Obama is the poster boy for this departure. Gate A-6.

Well, Bruce, I guess it's kinda like Ben Franklin said: "Beauty, like supreme dominion is but supported by opinion" If the guy is going to keep holding "prime time" press conferences then he better start showing us that he's really ready for prime time.

I just got an email offer from the Chicago Tribune to sign up for its new "electronic edition" for only $2.50/week to get an on-line edition that shows the entire paper "just as it appears in print".
They currently offer a free on-line service that does require registration and the only reason I signed up was because I wanted to view stories that were linked on other sites.
I'm not inclined to pay for on-line news content when the current offerings are supported by advertising links.
What do you think?

The print media is sucking in their last breath. Their demise will be welcomed, but Obama wants to throw them a dry bone of hope. Their liberal ways and technology has passed them in the night.

Ditto Of course, this was just another shameless and shallow comment posted only to get my post count to 400. Do I get a prize?

Jack, That makes you ahead of Bruce and Oliver. Bruce is not far behind. What is your favorite Micro Brew?? I used to like some of the stuff brewed by Stone Brewing, but they took advantage of a bogus hop shortage to raise their prices - I took a stand and boycotted. Alesmith is a local brewer that has some good stuff - I used to get an occasional 5 gal. keg of a few of their offerings, but since they were such a small operation it took two days to drop off my keg and get it filled. Actually, my favorite micro brews are batches that I've made myself. I have 3-4 recipes that I repeat quite often. I also keep the ABV below 6% since I'm not a big fan of high alcohol beers - most are in the range of 4.5 - 5.5%

Politics is war by another means. The Republicans suffered a setback in 2006 and even more serious setback in 2008. The Democrats now occupy the high ground, but the Republicans are not hiding in their trenches. They are regrouping and making small attacks on the Democratic lines looking for weak spots. The Democrats, actually surprised at having won the last battle, are having some trouble organizing themselves in their new positions, and are vulnerable. But the Republicans will have to wait until 2010 for their first real counteroffensive, and are handicapped by a lack of competent generals. More than enough time for the Democrats to solidify their positions if they don't screw up. Not only that, the Republicans have had a lack of new recruits, and no one is certain if they can change that yet. But they may yet surprise everyone...

Yup, you are 100% correct, neither party can maintain control, it is cyclic and the pendulum swings. Watch out for the new Reagan, it will take a powerful individual to stand the republicans upright. My hope is a third party will emerge, I hope it is a reality as I believe Obama is a one term president. If the republicans run another McCain then Obama is president for life.

What is noteworthy about Obama's "press conference" was they he didn't take one question from any of the reporters who were from a financial news source.
