Thank you CM for coming up with a subject a little more interesting than earmarks. Pork happens. The fact that Russia is considering stationing bombers in Cuba and Venezuela does prove one thing: That the Cold War was not as much about Communism as many people would like us to believe and more about the imperial ambitions of Russia and United States. Certainly Russia used Communism as a tool to extend it's influence, but it did backfire on a few occasions, such as with China, which while embracing Communism became a rival of Russia. But now Communism is no longer a factor, and yet Russia is again trying to extend it's influence to balance out America's world presence, as world powers have always done. A few bombers down south are hardly a threat, and we have much bigger problems on our table.

I think this could be a test. If so Obama is going to have to face a challenge, and this could be the one that makes or breaks him, much like JFK had and much like Bush had with 9/11. Let's just hope Obama has the huevos to do something about it.
JFK appeared to stand-up to Khrushchev while at the same time cutting a back room deal with him which resulted in the Soviets taking their weapons out of Cuba while we dismantled our Jupiter C medium range ballistic missiles which were stationed in Eastern Turkey. It wasn't quite so neat and clean a victory for the US as many in the media painted it.
Nostradamus also predicts a world changing event in 2012, now what could that be I wonder?

Did anyone hear Jerry Doyle tonight? Excellent insight into why Paulson, Bernenke, Chris Cox, and Geightner should be hauled into committe under oath and explain where the taxpayer money really went and why.
I think his program is repeated at 1:00 a.m., or maybe you can listen to it in his archives. It is well worth a listen!

2012 is the end of the Mayan calendar; isn't it? Good, God, and another U.S. presidential election! I would almost welcome an extraterrestial event.

Unfortunately, when I went to his website to see if the show was in some type of audio archive, I discovered that he charges for the privilege. Looks like only his "premium members" can hear the old stuff. Too bad.

Veterans groups irate at Obama's private insurance budget proposalwww.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/03/17/obama.veterans/Can anyone support Obama’s latest? Will employers hire the non-vet over a vet? Veterans will have to pay a deductible for health care.

I was hoping that what I thought I heard was NOT what I heard. This confirms it. The desperation in Washington is mounting.
And then there's this:
AIG outrage in Washington: 'This is ridiculous' One lawmaker suggests that firm execs should resign or kill themselves
msnbc.com staff and news service reports updated 1 hour, 35 minutes ago
I don't think I can stand any more CHANGE!

I don’t remember who the democrat was that made the statement “The AIG executive bonuses only amount to one tenth of one percent of the total AIG received.”
Gee, why don’t we double the AIG bailout then the bonuses will seem like “pocket change.”

Military court upholds war-crime dismissal against Camp Pendleton Marinelatimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/03/war-crimes-tria.html1:40 PM | March 17, 2009 A military appeals court today upheld the dismissal of war-crimes charges against Marine Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani, the highest-ranking Marine charged in the 2005 killings of 24 civilians in Haditha, Iraq. The court agreed with a military judge at Camp Pendleton, who ruled in June that there was the appearance of “undue command influence” in the case because a Marine lawyer who acts as a prosecutor sat in on meetings in which the Haditha case was discussed with the general who made the decision to charge Chessani and seven other Marines. About time.

Remember when President Obama said the Caterpillar Company would benefit from the Economic Stimulus plan and be part of the recovery?
I bet Obama wishes we could get that statement back. Yesterday Caterpillar announced they are laying off another 2454 people at three different plants.

"The Debt" is growing by leaps and bounds. Does it even matter anymore? Why or why not?

The reason why Democrats are in such artificial outrage at the AIG bonuses is that it exposes the ethical bamkruptcy of throwing billions of taxpayer dollars at Wall Street. Did the Democrats really expect snakes not to act like snakes? Trying to save a corrupt financial system doesn't appeal to me in any way.
