Even the Neo York Times editorial board is starting to creep toward the position that maybe Ukraine will not be able to recover the land Russia has occupied since it invaded. The costs for the west are such that the Neos are talking about Zelensky accepting an armistice now, and getting “all” of Ukraine back “later”, after the West has rebuilt and rearmed the Ukraine. Doesn’t sound that appealing to Putin, methinks. But Putin won’t be around forever. Nor Zelensky or his bro Biden either for that matter. All I have to say, once again, is phuq Europe.

No less than three columnists in the NYT hitting the panic button as Trump comes closer to being renominated. Mr. brooks and Ms. Goldberg take evangelicals to task for their Trump worship, and Mr. Stevens castigates the libs for discounting the concerns of Trump zombies. Personally, I’ll just be glad Biden gets put out to pasture, and deal with Trump II when it happens. It could be amusing, and I need some amusement.

Today in the Neo York Times: a column titled “ The Necessary Risk of America’s Military Strikes in Yemen” by someone from the Middle Eastern Institute”, a think tank funded by noe other tha thr Saudis. The Saudis have been at war with the Houthis for years.of course, there are a number of countries in the Middle East who would be thrilled if we went to war with an Iran. Time to start asking WWTD (what would Trump do?). 😝

Headline from the NYT, aka Planet Neocon: “ How Biden’s Immigration Fight Threatens His Biggest Foreign Policy Win.” They are calling Ukraine a win? I’m stunned and amazed.

In case anyone was wondering, Bret made it loud and clear in today’s NYT what the Neocon aim was : War with Iran. Is that because both Israel and Saudi Arabia want Iran taken out? Why are we the world’s hit man?

Thomas Friedman carries the torch today for the Glorious Neocon Crusade, fear of Trump is making the Neocons very nervous. Thomas whines that so few of our politicians are vets, and don’t have that “let’s kick ass” attitude. He even moans about the fact that Biden is almost the last leftover Cold Warrior.

In today’s NYT: David French tells us “Why MAGA Loves Russia and Hates Ukraine”. What amuses me is the war between the Neocon right and the MAGA right (Libs are all Neos). And what makes it more fun is the time factor. Ukraine needs many more billions and it needs it soon. The pittance the E.U. promised them won’t go far. The whole war is like a dark comedy.

First response I’ve seen about Trump’s crazy talk on NATO from the usual suspects in the NYT is from National Review refugee Mr. French. He seems to think like I do: Trump has a screw loose. But on the other hand, Mr. French was part of the problem not the solution when he was pushing the conservative agenda at NR.

From the daily Neoconfest that is the NYT: The death of Navalny is an opportunity to ratchet up the Putin demonization (and don’t get me wrong I’d love to see Vlad get a bullet in the brain) such as the column by Mr.Kristoff chastising the likes of Tucker Carlson and Trump for being soft on Putin. They are “feckless”. I love that word. Who wants to be without fecks? Meanwhile, a couple of outside hacks from the Center for International and Strategic Studies sound the alarm over a Russian anti-satellite project (how many weapon projects do we have going?). You ca n just see their mouth watering over a new Cold-war style arms race. The title of their column: “Is this a Sputnik moment?” Yeah, we want to repeat that hysteria. Finally, Mr. Douthat makes a surprisingly mild case for more aid to Ukraine. I sense Ukraine exhaustion.

Michelle Goldberg chimes in today on the possibility of Biden losing Michigan, with its large Muslim population, in November because of his unconditional support for Israel’s brutal war against Hamas. Would serve him right. I would laugh.

I used to think Mr. Brooks would always straddle the fence, but in his column today, “ The G.O.P. Returns to Its Bad Old Self”, he’s landing right on the Neocon side of the fence, decrying the “America First” wing of the GOP. Obviously, maybe he should be a Democrat. I expected a lot of Republicans to turn Democrat in 2016 but it didn’t happen. They made this bed now they have to sleep in it.

Now Mr. French is decrying the New MAGA right, complaining about Trump’s and Elon Musk’s domination. Should I feel sorry for them having to deal with what they helped start?

Today’s NYT has a rare insightful column by Christopher Caldwell which quotes Frenchman Emmanuel Todd who writes a book on the decline of the West. While there is too much in it to address, I will say that the NYT may be hedging its bets on its unqualified backing of Ukraine, as in “Fighting to the last Ukrainian”. As I’ve said elsewhere, the war was fun when it started but not it’s getting old, which matters to the trendies at the NYT which has to sell papers. I’m sure, though, if war breaks out in the Straights of Taiwan, the NYT will be gung-ho on it. As long as it goes well for us, then they will turn.

Observing the NYT’s anti-Tiktok paranoia, who needs the Epoch Times?

Old man Bret chimes in on TikTok. I’ll give you three guesses where he stands. Correct! And he brings up his daughter, of course. Daddy protecting the youngins from the Yellow Peril.
