How much can you trust the reportage on the war from the neo-con NYT? Today the had an article on how the Russians are failing to make much headway in Vuhledar while suffering bad losses. Of course, when you are giving ground like the Ukrainians seem to be, you keep up the morale by reporting.how many of the attackers are being killed. As for the other news source i listen to, NPR, their coverage of the war seems to be limited to stories about some Ukrainian rock band or the plight of the refugees or Russian war crimes. Can they continue to ignore reality and keep buying the Biden line? By the way, I saw the first Ukrainian M-113 I’ve seen. I wonder which NATO country provided those relics from the 60’s?

Looks like Ukraine is finally retreating from Bakhmut. Of course, this will have to be painted as some kind of victory for the heroic and clever Ukrainians. Maybe it is, I don’t know. It did take the Russians six months or so to take it. How strategic was it? I don’t know that either.

I’m hearing there are still 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers in Bakhmut. That is a lot more than I thought. Can they retreat? That would be a lot of POW’s. But then I’ve also heard that Ukraine has already evacuated its most elite troops.

The pro-Russian press has been claiming Bakhmut is on the verge of falling to the Russians for weeks if not months. I am no longer going to hold my breath, but the slower it takes things to happen the better off we all are IMHO. Things will get very dangerous if one side starts to lose bad.

So I’m hearing things are going badly for Ukraine on the battlefield. Is it true? Don’t know, but the American press is obsessing on some trivial air incident. As Trump would say, sad.

Looking at the magazines in the bookstore, and you’d never know there was a war in the Ukraine. I guess that is a good thing.

We are all waiting for Zelensky’s Big Push. He has to do it for political reasons, whether it makes military sense or not. NATO and the US neocons need a win to shore up domestic support for the war. And Zelensky has all those spiffy Western tanks from the UK and Germany now. Where’s my popcorn?

Headline in the NYT: “ With Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine, NATO Readies for Combat on Its Borders” with the subtitle “ Shocked by Russian atrocities, NATO is becoming the war-fighting alliance it was during the Cold War, committed to defending “every inch” of its territory from Day 1.”. Shades of 1914, with talk of Russian atrocities in Belgium, I mean Ukraine, and “defending every inch” of NATO “territory”. Was this written in Poland? Are they preparing Americans for war? It will be interesting before I am incinerated to see if Americans buy this neocon merde. Glory to NATO! 💀💀💀💀💀💀

I wonder if the alleged encirclement of Ukrainian forces in Bakhmut will suffer the fate of Paulus’s 6th Army, or trickle out of the “cauldron” like the Germans at Falaise.

Got my popcorn and I’m following the Zelensky Offensive as close as I have time to. Lots of Ukrainians and Russians will die. What for? Borders? I guess it’s just what Europeans do. And the US is the enabler, while the defense industry and the oil industry rake in the cash. Fighting climate change? That can wait. I’ll be gone anyway, and the people who will still be here don’t seem to care enough to protest this war, so screw ‘em. Us Boomers will just wallow in borrowed money ‘till we’re gone.

From the NYT: “ Zelensky, Citing Equipment Gaps, Says It’s Too Soon for Counteroffensive”. Sounds like he’s stalling for time. Is he getting cold feet at the thought of a bloody offensive with no guaranteed success?

Ha-ha! Con man Zelensky continues to pick the pockets of the Europeans, getting promises of more billions from those suckers. You can fool some of the people all of the time….

How many months did it take Russia to take Bakhmut? Not that I’m complaining, the slower this war goes the better. Now we are still waiting for the much hyped Ukrainian offensive. Despite having a GDP the same as Italy alone, the Russians are keeping it together against a West many times as wealthy. For now.

From the NYT: “‘It ’s Time’: Ukraine’s Top Commander Says Counteroffensive Is Imminent.” Who is this for? Appeasing Ukraine’s Western investors?

So those wacky Ukrainians are making drone attacks on Moscow? Why? (And we are paying for it, no doubt) Are they trying to build support in Russia for Putin’s war? Look how 9/11 pissed off Americans.
