War is an issue that supersedes all others. Even the environment, because war could destroy much of it. And just like Russia went to war against Austria-Hungary in 1914 to “save” it’s ally Serbia, we could go to war to “save” Taiwan. Of course now we have nukes. Fortunately the first Cold War ended with a whimper. We might not be so lucky next time. Naturally, it’s all China’s fault. Remember Jeane Kirkpatrick’s rule: Blame the other guy first…

War is exactly what the current administration needs to deflect attention from it's gross incompetence.Let's go Brandon

Here’s the irony: a far left dude like myself warning the ultra-wealthy that war with China could be a threat to their wealth. But they are the ones who control the media from MSNBC to Newsmax. Even the defense contractors could find it hard making profits with radioactive factory ruins.

There is no doubt Taiwan will continue to be a thorn in the side of China as a vassal of the US. And the Chinese Communists may be dumb enough to start WWIII over it. So unless the Taiwanese are looking forward to being a free, independent radioactive wasteland, maybe they should contemplate giving up. I think they will regret not doing so, and of course they won’t.

And now the USA is in a tussle with Russia too over the Ukraine. This may be more dangerous than the fuss over Taiwan.

So the dogma that seems to resonate with most Americans is “Peace Through Strength.” Is it true, or just sometimes true? Was it deterrence that kept WWIii from happening with Russia? Maybe. On the other hand, didn’t all the Great Powers believe in peace through strength right up to August 1914? I’m not sure. But it’s all moot anyway, PTS is pretty much set in stone for the foreseeable future. Even Biden has jacked up the Pentagon’s budget beyond 3/4 of a trillion a year. Isn’t that inflationary?

Let’s see: in 1914 it was Russia protecting Serbia from Austria. Now it’s NATO protecting Ukraine from Russia. Is Europe just tired of peace like it was in 1914? The story is that millions of Europeans rushed to enlist in 1914 to escape the boredom of the factories. What do I care? As long as it’s Paris that is radioactive and not San Diego.

WW3 is in the air, and where are the ch-urches? Silent, as usual. They are as useless as the Left. They all deserve what they get.

It has been 72 years since the end of the last great European war. I guess it’s about time for another. Current Europeans have forgotten what it is like. And this time it could go nuclear! Even more fun! I even heard about Irish fishermen planner to confront Russian war games in the Atlantic. Even Ireland must want in on the fun this time. Lots of marches against Covid mandates but no anti-war marches that I know of. The Left? What Left? Even they are on the bandwagon. We’ll all get what we deserve.

While the possibility of war seems much more important than any other issue, the probability of it is I think rather low, thank Allah. And to obsess on it certainly even bores me. So I’ll try to work up some enthusiasm for all the lesser issues going on.

Biden seems to be ramping up the war alarmism. It reminds me of the false alarmism about WMDs in Iraq before Boy George invaded. I’m still skeptical about Russia going into Ukraine with a mere 100,000+ soldiers.

I’m boning up on my Ukrainian geography so I can better follow the Russian invasion. What better way than to study Operation Bagration, the Russian offensive that drove the Germans from the Ukraine and took them to the gates of Warsaw in 1944?

Ok, I’ve already discovered my knowledge of military history is insufficient. By the time of Operation Bagration in June 1944, the Germans had already been driven from the Ukraine. Kiev had fallen to the Russians in November 1943.

So Russia makes the next escalation, and the West, of course, has to respond for domestic political reasons. No party wants to look weak. Shades of 1914. The silver lining is that it could get Joe Rogan and the Canadian Mothertruckers off the headlines.
