I think this is my third attempt to come up with a thread to put my finger on what I perceive is the unhappy legacy of the Boomers. It's totally subjective on my part, I know, but there you have it. What did the Boomers accomplish? I wish I knew.

I think it was Rubio who repeated a theory that I had heard before: That Gen X, the "Children of Reagan", will save the Millennials from the evil Socialist Boomers. Maybe it's true, but what I see is the Boomers giving the Millennials Donald Trump. You can thank us later.

Three crappy Boomer Presidents, and we are on the verge of number four.

As I think I stated somewhere else, the Boomers bought a used Cold War from their parents, and are now trying to sell a pointless War on "Terrorism" to the Millennials. I think it's tragic.

I've mentioned how far I think the Republicans have fallen from their glory days of Reagan to the shame of Trump. But another guy also personifies how far the Boomers have fallen, and that is Bill Clinton. 24 years ago he was vital and charismatic (and horny) when he was running for President and became our first Boomer Prez. Now, he is just another faded Old White Guy, clueless about Black Lives Matters. I love the passing of time, don't you? As Pink Floyd said, "All the iron turns to rust; all the proud men turn to dust".

Well, no matter who wins the 2016 election, The Witch or The Charlatan, we will be stuck with another Boomer President until at least 2020. The track record of the first three Boomer Presidents is pretty dismal. Of course, they have also set a really low bar!

Despite all the short term hilarity of the Trump candidacy, I suspect there will be long term shame for the Boomers for inflicting this assclown on America. In my eyes, he seems to be a big "Eff You" to the younger generations from the Boomers beginning to leave the world stage. The Boomers should be doing a lot of soul searching about him, but I don't think they are deep enough.

To reemphasize what I said in the last post, it's sad enough that only a few Republicans are doing any soul-searching about a lunatic like Trump taking over the party, but on a bigger scale it's sad that I see no Boomers, who are responsible for the rise of Trump and other bad things happening in the country and the world, doing ANY soul-searching as far as I have seen. If anybody sees any, let me know.

I hate to repeat the same thing over and over, but the radio blowhards like Sean Hannity do it all the time, so what the heck. I'm horrified that the fourth (and probably last) Baby Boomer President, after three previous turkeys, might be a total loon.

I dropped in on Rush this morning, a guy who is still popular with millions of aging Boomers. He has definitely jumped on the Trump "Whites Only" Crazy Train, to his everlasting shame.

I think I mentioned elsewhere that if The Prince of Lies is elected President, it will be a test of what The Millennials are made of if they roll over and take it or not. Sadly, we Boomers have shown the world what we are made of, and it is not a pretty sight.

Post by jdredd on Oct 31, 2016 at 9:14pm Did we already have an Obama Legacy thread? I don't remember, but here is one for what it's worth. Not much. What did he accomplish? Obamacare is imploding. He tried to buy off the insurance companies but it didn't work. He forgot their infinite avarice. He had a chance to get us out of our Middle Eastern adventures and choked. Iraq is deep in war with ISIS, and in Afghanistan the Taliban is making advances. But hey, lots of defense contractor shareholders made a bundle, so that's something. He was unable to work with Putin. Hey, maybe President Trump can. They already seem to like each other. Sadly, Obama ended up not being a uniter. I'm sure President Trump will. OK, I'm being sarcastic. You think American is polarized now, just wait. Blood might even flow. The biggest positive I saw from Obama was defying the paranoid Zionist lobby by cutting a deal with Iran. As for Syria, who cares who runs that cesspool? Let them murder each other until Hell freezes over.
This comment was from the "Obama's Legacy" Thread I started on Monday. Now I've decided his pathetic legacy can fit into this thread, along with the similarly pathetic legacies of Bill and George.

You might say that this election is one of the last, if not the last of the Boomer Civil War battles that started in the sixties, basically pitting anti-war college kids against the pro-war sons of the working class. The saddest part is that the battle has come down to these two dirtbags. Both believe in "winning" the bogus "War on Terrorism". Hillary is a pathetic reformer on health care in the Obama mold, while Donald wants to go back to the way health care was rationed in the past (and health care will probably always be rationed), that is, if you are wealthy you live, and if you are poor you die. Both kiss the ass of Wall Street. They differ some on immigration, with The Donald on the side of The Deplorables with his ridiculous wall that will never be built. Hopefully, 2020 could see some Gen X candidates and the fresh air they will bring, because I think there is a good chance of whomever is elected in 2016 being a one termer. Plus, the GOP has openly admitted it will try to paralyze a Hillary Presidency with scandal mongering, just like they did to Bill with the Monica Lewinsky faux scandal. Good times ahead!

Kennedy and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They fought and protested a war together, argued over Nixon and Kissinger together, laughed at Archie Bunker together. As children, they practiced air-raid drills; as adults, they cheered the fall of the Berlin Wall. In the 1990s, they saw one of their own become president, watching him gain glory as one of the most gifted politicians of his time, but also infamy as one of its most self-indulgent — a poster child for the Me Generation. They are of course the baby boomers, the collective offspring of the most fertile period in American history. At 75 million strong, they have been the most dominant force in American life for three decades, and one of its most maligned. Enlightened but self-centered, introspective but reckless, they are known among the cohorts that followed them — and even to some boomers themselves — as the generation that failed to live up to its lofty ideals, but still held fast to its sense of superiority." Lofty ideals? The loftiest ideals of most of the Boomers I know is deciding the ideal surface for their new kitchen counter. Enlightenment? That's what they will work on AFTER they buy their vacation home on the beach in the Bahamas.

We all know the generation that fought WWII is considered the "Greatest Generation" by many, but sadly it looks to me like their children, the Boomers, just might be the worst generation in a hundred years at least. We've already had three crappy Boomer Presidents, and unless Trump is a lot more capable than he seems, we will have a fourth. He has already surrounded himself with a bunch of dirtbags.
