What was it all for, Boomers?

www.nytimes.com/2019/10/14/opinion/trump-syria-turkey.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage"The threat to destroy the Turkish economy was made, as is Mr. Trump’s wont, in a tweet that was such a departure from historical presidential pronouncements that it is worth quoting: “As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!).” I have claimed that Trump is loonie tunes, but what he tweeted here echoes none other than Rush Limbaugh's schtick of proclaiming himself as the greatest pundit of all times. It works for Rush, why not Trump? Apparently lots of Boomers think it's clever.

Is the story of the Boomers a tragedy, or is it in fact a comedy?

As I have said before, Trump is the fourth crap Boomer President in a row. And now two of them have been impeached. Makes me laugh.

If you ask me, and no one ever does, Rush is the personification of everything that went wrong with the Boomers.

Dropped in on the Rush show this morning. They had some "Trump can do no wrong" bozo subbing for him, but he called in to update his audience on his condition. He is apparently on chemo and did not sound so good.

www.nytimes.com/2020/07/03/us/politics/trump-coronavirus-mount-rushmore.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage"WASHINGTON — Standing in a packed amphitheater in front of Mount Rushmore for an Independence Day celebration, President Trump delivered a dark and divisive speech on Friday that cast his struggling effort to win a second term as a battle against a “new far-left fascism” seeking to wipe out the nation’s values and history. With the coronavirus pandemic raging and his campaign faltering in the polls, his appearance amounted to a fiery reboot of his re-election effort, using the holiday and an official presidential address to mount a full-on culture war against a straw-man version of the left that he portrayed as inciting mayhem and moving the country toward totalitarianism.
“Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values and indoctrinate our children,” Mr. Trump said, addressing a packed crowd of sign-waving supporters, few of whom wore masks. “Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders, deface our most sacred memorials and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities.” Here's Trump trying to push all the Boomer's buttons.

www.nytimes.com/2020/10/03/us/politics/ohio-election-trump-biden.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage"I also saw how Mr. Trump’s appeals to a white, conservative social order resonated in Portsmouth. Kim Hill, a local realtor, voted for Mr. Trump in 2016 and said she believed that he had improved the country’s economy. There were more long-haul transport trucks on the road during her weekly drives to Dayton, and more cargo pods stacked onto the rail cars that trundle daily past Portsmouth, she said, adding: “I never noticed that when Obama was in office.” Ms. Hill raised another topic. Saying that she admired Mr. Trump’s hard-line stance on immigration, she recounted that while she lived in France in the 1990s, she had lamented the country’s decision to let large numbers of Africans emigrate there. “In just a 10-year period of time, it drastically changed, to where you didn’t even fell like you were in France, you felt like you were in South Africa,” she said. Still, she said she felt a kinship with Black Lives Matter protesters, because she saw a bit of her younger self in them — the girl who walked around barefoot and loved the Rolling Stones." I'm still lamenting my fellow Boomers swing to the right as they aged. I guess it's my naivete. And I'm reading the same thing is happening to Gen X.

If Trump is defeated, will it be vengeance for 1972, the Booomer's first election? How far they have fallen, backing McGovern in '72, and now standing by Trump in 2020. Vengeance of the Boomers of '72 on the Boomers of '20? Vengeance on themselves? Probably not, Trump will probably win. But it would have been a cool full circle of some kind.

www.newsmax.com/politics/kevin-mccarthy-radio-conservative-host/2021/02/17/id/1010443/"Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, who died Wednesday after a long battle with lung cancer, was a "visionary and the voice of a generation," House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., said in a statement. Limbaugh, 70, had the most listened to program in U.S. history. He announced his diagnosis last year. "In 1988, Rush was the first nationally syndicated radio show on AM," McCarthy said. "For three hours each day for 33 years, he guided millions of eager listeners across the country with common sense, humor, and verve." Unfortunately, he is probably right.

There is a chance that the war in Afghanistan will proceed merrily to its conclusion of an American defeat. Good going, Boomers. Will you apologize to succeeding generations? Of course you won’t. There will just be a lot of rancorous finger pointing. I can hardly wait.

The most interesting thing about the McAuliffe vs Youngkin race is that MaAuliffe is a Boomer but Youngkin is a GenXer. That would be almost enough for me to vote for Youngkin. Almost.

Far from being like the Greatest Generation, if WWIII starts, Boomers will be remembered (if there is any memories) as definitely the worst generation.

One more Boomer who got old and bailed out of California is Andrew Klavan. He is one of the.Boomers who changed during the Reagan years, and even worse became a Christian though he was born Jewish.
