I was not too shocked at Cat's demise. All the reminiscing she was doing in the last few episodes seemed like a hint. I was surprised at Robb Stark's and his wife's murder, though. But he was kind of a weenie. Speaking of weenies, I was actually most surprised at Jon Snow abandoning his Wilding girlfriend to save the life of some worthless old horse breeder. I hope she hunts him down. But I don't trust Dany's new friend. I hope they don't get together. Who needs a beau when you have dragons? And while Jamie and Brienne are kind of sweet together, Jamie needs to die, along with all of the Lanisters. I love Tyrion but I think he's doomed. I do hope he does in his father himself first.

You are not close. In the book Robb's wife did not attend the wedding or was she killed. Looks like you will need to wait until next season or the one following to find out what happens to Jon Snow. Dany's life will change but we are a season or two away. You can safely read book 1-3 and not get ahead of next season, I've read all 5 book 6 is way late.

www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/showtracker/la-et-st-game-of-thrones-red-wedding-reaction-twitter-youtube-20130603,0,5089128.story "Fans of the HBO fantasy series “Game of Thrones” are unleashing more fire than Daenerys Targaryen’s dragons over the bloody climax of Sunday’s penultimate Season 3 episode, “The Rains of Castamere.” "In case you have repressed the memory, allow us to refresh you: the so-called “Red Wedding” episode ended with the brutal, graphic murders of three of the remaining members of the Stark clan – mom Catelyn, son Robb and his pregnant wife Talisa – along with several dozen or so wedding guests. Violating one of the most sacred rules of filmed entertainment, the Lannisters’ henchmen even assassinated Robb’s direwolf, Grey Wind (though he was, unlike virtually everyone else, killed off camera)." "But the death of three major characters (or four, if you count those with four legs) in such spectacularly violent fashion thoroughly shocked fans – or at least those who hadn’t already read the books by George R.R. Martin upon which the series is based. Sick with despair and vibrating with outrage, many viewers took to – where else? – the Internet Sunday night to express their emotions. “Tonight's Game of Thrones was the most upsetting hour of TV I've ever seen,” tweeted “Book of Mormon” star Josh Gad." These complainers are wimps! Heck, this is no worse than the stuff that happens in Shakespeare's "Titus Andronicus". In that, (spoiler alert), the protaganist feeds his enemy's cooked children to her!

The critics obviously didn't read the books. What appears to be is not always what it is. ;D

You still need to read the books to find out what really happened.
