Your input is important to improve the look and feel of our forum. Please send a “private message” to CM and not “moderator” or “admin” for changes.
1. I think the chat room could be lively and fun. Larry and CM tested “chat” yesterday, it is pretty cool. The response time seemed reasonable but I would like to load test. There are a lot of switches and parameters to play with but it is not possible for me to test them alone. If we could arrange a time certain when 4 or more of us could chat simultaneously so I could fine tune real time.
2. “Anything Goes” was created as a “sticky” topic, (that is to always remain at the top.) Should it be? Should we have other sticky topics? Should we have a “Q and A” sticky topic?
3. Currently there are two area: A.) San Diego Scene General Board B.) Sports
Do we need other areas? I will create an area for notices and announcements let me know if we should have others.
You can post your answers here or send a private message.

I just discovered "guest" are permitted to post and create threads in the "general area."
Should we allow guest to post but not create threads? Or leave it as is and wait and see how it goes?

CM, I Would first like to congratulate you on setting this up. Well done. This kind of format will end up being liberating for many. I would suggest letting only registered users to post. If nothing else, it gives you the ability to moderate effectively. If someone needs talking to, you can do it in private. Public censure could cause things to blow up. The volume of posts could get quite large. When so many posts are by "guest", the guest's nuances, idioms and "ways" get diluted to a point. Just thoughts.

Good thoughts, I was thinking leaving it wide open for now in hopes of attracting volume and at some point in time make an announcement “in 30 days guest post will be shut down, please register.“ Most of this board is parameter driven but the registration process for membership is static and imposed by pro boards the good folks hosting this board. Let’s see how it goes, if it gets out of hand then we will react.

I am wondering if we want to consider scheduling chat times. We could probably use the calendar to post the times and topics to see if it would jump start that feature. I usually lose a couple evenenings a week to meetings but would be interested in trying to participate in as many as possible.

I have not even read the documentation for “calendar” functions all I did was turn it on and limit it to “members only.” My schedule is pretty flexible so if you want to organize something that works for you I’ll make myself available. If we could get 4 people I think that would be a sufficient load, I could make real time tweaks and tuning. People are finding us, it may take a little time but if the numbers grow this could be a lot of fun.

I spent a few minutes playing with the calendar. In the Info Center (below Forum Name) you will find Events This Month (only appears to members) I created a couple of test entries and a Happy Birthday entry for Hatch. Once a calendar entry is created only the moderator can edit or delete. Not sure if this will become a monster or not but as with all aspects of this board we will learn as we go.
