According to Bill Press, six right wing talk show hosts have used "racist" to describe Ms Sotomayor over 300 times since Wednesday July 8. The usual suspects-RL,SH,MS,GB,RH,BC Bruce, I am sorry; but, perhaps, you can't quite grasp the tone and tenor of Sotomayor's remark about a "wise Latina coming to a better conclusion (decision) than an old white man!" And then she contends this statement corroborated Saundra Day O'Connor's statement "a/an (old?) woman and a/an (old?) man with the same judicial background can reach the same conclusion (decision)."

He is former head of the California Democratic Party, has been on years ago on "Crossfire" and is a highly respected commentator. Goggle him if need be. TYhe Repubs are being seen as petty and racist by many; why when she will be confirmed in a landslide with many Repubs voting for so as not to antagonize a fast growing bloc of voters.

I know one thing; it wasn't racist. And most of you don't get the Ricci case. She ruled on whether the city abided by the law and what they did was legal. There was no ruling on whether the law itself was legal, only on the city's actions. Don't know why you can't comprehend it.

Considering some of the crap decisions made by some of the old white guys on the Supreme Court I might agree with what Ms. Sotomayor said. Does that make me a racist?

The term "old white guys" seems quite popular now and seems to have garnered immunity from being a racist comment unless it is attached to some caveat that suits the accuser. Is there an age cutoff from this accusation, or is it really based on race?

Tired- You failed to mention so much historical background, including the fact that many of the founders weres of the NAACP were mainstream whites. You don't read very well or your comprehension is lacking. What did I say in this quote from that post: Maybe I didn't specify WHITE but since W.E.B. Du Bois was the ONLY BLACK I belive I made my point!

Why are you defending this turkey? Comparing the NAACP to the KKK is utter nonsense. How many people did the NAACP murder or torture? Again, where is your comprehension? You are reading what you want NOT what I wrote. WHERE did I say I support Sessions or compared NAACP to the KKK. Here is what I did do: I supported Sessions statement about the communist and un-American founders of the NAACP. I never mentioned the KKK let alone compared them.

I've run into a lot of old white guys over the years. And I know how highly many of them think of themselves, and how many of them believe that their whiteness is better than non-whiteness. But I also think calling someone else a racist, whether true or not, ends up being a waste of time. A person's personal prejudices are not what I care about, what I want to know is where they stand on the issues at hand. I may dislike Arabs, but I think the less we kill the better off we'll be...

TYhe Repubs are being seen as petty and racist by many; why when she will be confirmed in a landslide with many Repubs voting for so as not to antagonize a fast growing bloc of voters]. You have it all wrong! In your comment about voting for her as to NOT ANTAGONIZE a fast growing bloc of voters (hispanics) you are greatly mistaken. If the Republicans voted in Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Miss Sotomayor is a shoo-in (unless she screws it up herself!)! They are just clarifying what she represents.

What is the GOP thinking? For a party that I know thinks of itself as the "smart people's party", who do they think they are appealing to by going after Sotomayor's alleged biases? The rural white vote? They already have THAT. Maybe they like being out of power because it is so much easier to attack than defend. I'm sure Limbaugh likes it better, so maybe he doesn't want the GOP back in charge.

And she handled the questions about abortion ans gun control beautifully, totally frustrating the righties

More radical than Rush? Press has a serious show; today his guests are House Whip James Clyburn, and the senior senator from Minnesota (can't recall her name). His guests are a who's who of politics, he's so unlike the pompous windbag.

As far as Sessions goes, I can't vote for him and he doesn't represent me. He has to deal with his own district. If he commits political suicide then so be it! La Opinion is just that, an opinion! I am sure that it will be just as racist in attacking those who will not do its bidding!

Ever read La Opinion? I doubt it. It is a daily newspaper, not an opinion sheet. Session's district is conservative with few hispanics. It is the party that is getting a black eye.
