FYI, the vast majority of blacks are, and always have been, opposed to abortion on demand. Most people are not aware of this fact since it doesn't fit their fantasies that we believe all liberal theorems. The same with gay marriage. I personally believe in the right of a wsoman to choose but much prefer that they do not abort. Surprised?

I personally believe in the right of a w^oman to choose but much prefer that they do not abort. Surprised? Not surprised one bit. I've heard this directly and indirectly for years. On certain issues, blacks and hispanics, just for example, tend to lean conservative based on religious beliefs. Many such beliefs are common throughout Christianity. Certain of these groups, blacks, I would think, tend to take a "live and let live" stance. While they don't approve of abortion or gay marriage, they would rather not impose their own morals on anyone else. This is a gripe that " some liberal groups have about some of us- the ultra-conservative Christian whites. That tends to be a reaction about fanatic groups that try to impose extremist views on anyone and everyone. That is not the same, however, as voting for a ban on gay marriage. That is a vote- not pressure applied. A vote, should there be one in a national referendum, to ban abortion on demand is also not a shove-down-the-throat move. It is a vote on the direction and morality of the country. I think that the views that the vast majority of Americans have about islamic extremists is generally unified. We do not condone coercion at knife point. Of course, if a legitimate effort were waged to impose Sharia Law in this country by lawful means... ?

Sharia Law does not belong in this country. We have always been the melting pot of the world. That is why in the past we were far more successful than other countries at assimilating various cultures/nationalities. Of course, of late, with the special interest groups and handouts for immigrants both legal and illegal - this has changed.

See? You guys would have the black and hispanic vote because of abortion, gay rights, etc., if you weren't so mean on racial and economic issues.

Economic issues = advancement for everyone. Every culture has their entrepreneurs. They have an opportunity in the USA to step out of their current socioeconomic way of life and create success/prosperity. What you want is to deprive people of creating wealth, success and prosperity for their families and future generations.

I know that's how you have to spin our positions for political reasons, and we're used to it so go right ahead. But for me, the fact is I believe in WELL REGULATED CAPITALISM, and the right's complaints are really all about minor stuff like card check or whether to privatize Social Security, and all the noise about the sky falling (EEK! SOCIALISM!!) is just a recruiting tactic.

See? You guys would have the black and hispanic vote because of abortion, gay rights, etc., if you weren't so mean on racial and economic issues. Absolutely 100% on target. We vote for the most liberal candidate, on economic issues and a feeling, right or wrong that the liberals are more on our side. These outweigh the social issues where we may agree with the right. Our congressmen are generally far more liberal than the voters. Probably 80 to 90% of my people consider the name calling and outrageous charges race based. Pure and simple. The vileness and extent of this behavior far exceeds anything seen in modern history and the conclusion is it is because of his race. A certain proportion of the white population simply does not accept the fact that he won. And since the most derogatory and mean spirited attacks come from the right. On another thread it was mentioned that Jack came across some criticism of the Obama girls, and defended the girls. I tried months ago to tell you about this stuff, and everybody blew me off like I was imagining it. Thankfully this site has been free of this cretin like behavior. They've been called stupid, had their hair criticized, Malia is too tall, Malia is actually a male, they are spoiled brats, etc etc. I won't go to these sites anymore as I see my grandkids in the girls.

I have no problem with since it expressed your thoughts and feelings. Would it not be also honest for those of us that were offended by Rev. Wright's words to feel as though Barack Obama wasn't "more on our side" after over twenty years of attending his rch? Surely you can understand that there was such blantantly offensive language that came from Wright to give any reasonable person pause. Can't you? Was it not true that a certain portion of the American population simply could not accept that George W Bush won the first time in 2000 and again in 2004? I know, there is no comparing the two because of race. But, the vehemence and vitriol was no less palpable... and disgusting. But, then, as more recently, there were people swearing that they were going to leave the country and renounce their citizenship! Remember that? And, it is true that most of the attacks came from the right. Very few on the left have the guts to speak out about the abomination.<-- NOT a racial slur, by the way. It is a statement about an idiology, one that Obama seems to prove he is for daily. I hope I am right to assume you meant " everybody" some place else.

Bruce, It is hard to even talk to you anymore. I don't know what sites you regularly visit, but your transference of anger and accusations here are totally misguided and out of line. You said you were leaving this site because it was a cesspool of right-wing extremists. That was misguided and out of line as well. I say you either come to your senses or go ahead and leave! You are really lowering yourself to the likes of VOR and JO, but then you were the third rung of that trifecta on the RR blog.

You can throw insults all you want, you, Lori and Lou helped make RR's site a pit of hatred and now you rear up when I'm telling you something you don't want to hear. I know you and others want me to leave but I'm only going to go when I want to and you have no say in the matter. If I make you uncomfortable, too bad. If I interfere with your bubble of beliefs, so be it. Who are you to tell me to come to my senses. My opinions are as valid as anybody else's and I'll keep on even if I'm the only one left here that thinks the degrading and vicious attacks on the president are un American, hateful, and demeaning.

It is a statement about an idiology, one that Obama seems to prove he is for daily. I hope I am right to assume you meant " everybody" some place else. Of course I can understand why some found Rev Wright's rhetoric offensive. In the same way many find Falwell's "musings" offensive. Bush won in 2000 with 500,000 fewer votes than Gore. More people voted for Gore, but because of the electoral vote, Bush won. so be it. In 2004, there was controversy over the Florida vote. SCOTUS decided in favor of Bush. So be it. The people saying they would leave the country if whomever got elected were carried away by something and nobody did. Those on the left don't see any abomination, why should they speak out about it? I should have said "some" not everybody accused me of making it up regarding the President's daughters. Again, the anti-Bush sentiments never reached the level or the viciousness of the attacks on Obama. Not even close. He can be called a nutball, Marxist, Hitler, Commie, boob, idiot, liar, thug, dumbo, portrayed as a monkey, his wife likened to a gorilla, bootlicker, terrorist, arrogant, racist, illegal president, fraud, and on and on. He is the president for at least 3 years more, some of you need to "adjust" to that fact. And you all think it's funny and fine.

The attacks on President Bush were much more hateful and vicious, but then you didn't think that or complain because he wasn't your guy. Obama's stated goals and socialist agenda are what we are objecting to, but you are unable to make that distinction and consider it all to be some form of personal attack. You may presently have equal access to this board (not a right) to express your opinions, but I think we could start a new thread to discuss whether or not your opinions were "as valid as anybody else's" In that discussion, your worst enemy would be that pesky word "reasonable".
