Alrighty, i was just wondering what people thought to the way Tony Blaire and George Bush were with each other, some people here in Old Blighty joked they were 'secret lovers' lol, it was a good party joke. But what will be the outcome of Gordon Brown and Barack Obama? I mean Gordon Brown is a peice of work, no one here likes him. Whereas Obama, of what i know of him seems like a really decent fello. He is liked over here, i think mainly cause he is the first 'Coloured' President which is frankly quite awesome, and we think he will keep to his words that he said, but it's time that will show us if it's true or not. So, what do you guys think? I don't think they'll get on that well, but that's just me.

Kim, you asked a very good question! Obama has already felt a little friction from some leaders. But, they are the ones you'd expect it from. I have a feeling that he will likely get on well enough with most European heads of state. One I am not sure of is Berlusconi of Italy. I say I am not sure... just 'cause I'm not sure. Now, whether or not Obama will swap spit with any of them, I doubt the First Lady will have any of that.

Thanks, it's been on my mind for a rather long time.
See, i think Gordon Brown will make him a little edgy, i mean we all hate him, he's trying to suck upto us but he's a peice of work, i say that i Obama is as good as he is, he will tell Gordon where to go. I hope he does i mean it could be a new start for America with Obama as president, he could change a lot of things for the better, i think we here in Old Blighty need a 'coloured' PM, might turn out better actually.
Ya never ken though, things may turn out alryte wee the Berlusconi of Italy, then again, it may no.
Lol well i hope he don't swap spit with them, that was Bush's job!
(lol sorry, i hated Bush)

I’ve always felt Bush and Blair had an odd relationship. Bush treated Blair like his puppy dog; Blair would follow and do what Bush told him.

I mean Blaire, for all his stupidness was alright, and bush was just a big a******e. So we always had the joke that htye were secretly having an affair to be polite

Kim,
Bit of a time difference, but it's good to have members from other countries. Could you recommend some websites for news in the UK?
So far I've been occasionally monitoring: The Daily Express, London Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Daily Mail and The Sun.
In this country, referring to African Americans as "Coloured" is not appropriate and is considered a racial slur. Is it a commonly used and publicly acceptable term in the UK?

Kim, don't mind Jack Oliver. We're not really having a civil war. It's just the liberals practicing civil disobedience. He's just bitter because his guy lost. Obama has become the the butt of jokes for the next four years. ;D Seriously, with all kidding aside, I think you'll enjoy it here. And we'll get the benefit of an outsider point of view. Speaking of an outsider's point of view, what do you think of the human species, Jack Oliver?

Kim you're a breathe of fresh air here.Colored is simply not used here,it's not really a slur but it's just antiquated. We prefer to be called African-American,although we mostly refer to ourselves as black,it rolls of the tongue easier.

Well i'll just say Black if anything, i get in trouble for saying it here, people don't like it, they perfer you to be more ... polite i guess.

escapehatch mocking me shows their dislike for Obama supporters.
And yes, our country is divided right now, hence my term a political civil war. All you have to do is listen to America Talk Radio to her the republicans slander democrats 24 hours a day.
Hatch,,,you disapoint me. try sticking to subjects instead of personal attacks just because you dont share my opinions.
