I agree, CM, I think you are going about it the right way. I just had a "conversation" over at the 760blog with Christina. I told her that the software allows us to look up comments by person. I told her that often times I can see a comment in the pop-up window which seems to have been deleted in the actual thread. She said they don't "censor" anyone. I asked why all these other comments had been removed from the thread. She said they delete "obscene" messages and threats. I pointed out there was no obscenity in the messages I saw. She said they'll delete "off-topic" comments too... uh, what? Couldn't almost ANY comment fall under this definition? And then she added that perhaps the deleted comments were replies to a thread which itself had been delete. To recap: They censor anything they want. Then 760 have gone from “caring less” to “over reacting.” I’ve looked closely at JS-Kit the software they are using especially in the early days of this board, robust but not as robust as Proboards. I do know when you post on the 760 blog two folders containing numerous cookies are installed on your hard drive (you can verify from your browser click – tools – options – privacy – show cookies,) 760kfmb.com and js-kit.com. It is those two cookies that link post as you described above. Deleting those cookies forever breaks the link. As long as the two cookies remain untouched a poster can delete their own post from the blog or they can delete from the pop-up box, deletion from either location removes the post permanently from both locations as JS-Kit or 760 do not archive post. If posts are appearing in the pop-up and not on the blog the post was removed by admin and not by the poster. Christine is correct if a topic is removed the post will remain visible from the pop-up. Logically however why would anyone post to a topic that is rear the bottom of the pile? It does not make any sense; no one will see the post. Admin can delete post indiscriminately but deleting a post for topic drift is an abuse of power. It’s been awhile since I’ve been on the other side but my last visit I saw the ability to post as guest or any name the poster desires. The problem is someone can masquerade as another poster. The false identity can be discovered as you described, again deleting the cookies allows a poster to masquerade as many posters. In essence a poster can post and respond to the post and appear as two posters. Only 760 would know - the IP is recorded for every post. However another problem arises for 760 – a poster can only be banned by IP but changing your IP or hiding behind a proxy circumvents their method and the poster is back on. Here at SD Scene we do not allow members to hide behind a proxy, 760 does, a member may change their IP some ISP’s allow dynamic IP’s so every time a member logins they may have a different IP from their previous login, no big deal. My guess they choose their method of guest posting and tracking by cookies because no one was posting. Presently we don’t allow guest posting it has slowed our membership but then again we don’t have the same issues 760 does.

back on topic, Funny how that governor Sanford from SC even thought of running for president.
I know everyone is human, but when your political parties platform is being on the right side of morals and religion, the GOP is really screwing up right now and that is quite fine by me.
I think their true colors are comming out and they cant hide that they are like everyone else...
So all the GOP has now is wonderful Sarah Palin to root for and that is fine by me.

back on topic, Funny how that governor Sanford from SC even thought of running for president. I agree, it's funny Sanford ever considered running for higher office once he started in with this woman. By all accounts they were pretty cozy right from the start. But even if they really really didn't start the affair until last year, the problem is the same. An affair is an affair and only a totally delusional nincompoop could expect it could be hidden away forever. I can't fathom how he might hope it wouldn't eventually be exposed, even long after the fact.

The exposure of behavior is up to the "Media" so given what we now have under that umbrella can you really expect full disclosure? Oh yeah I forgot, we are talking about a Republican so of course it will come out regardless!

Oh yeah I forgot, we are talking about a Republican so of course it will come out regardless! And Rush and Hannity will remain silent, regardless as they try to laughingly claim moral superiority. FAct, all the GOP attacked Letterman for a sexist joke,,,, BUT NO OUTRAGE for an affair that hurt a wife and children. thats why niether were a big deal to me. I dont play that game.

Please avoid the idiot button. Its not about liberals or conservatives, it's about men, moral compasses, all of our secret lives, our lack of respect for our spouses, offspring or last name. If you insist on keeping score this week it's lust 2 integrity 0. Power often makes us reckless and pastors may be better guests on Sunday morning talk show than columnists.

Is this relly Rocket speaking? It actually makes sense. He must have had an off day and wasn't thinking clearly.

More pearls of wisdom from the GOP in dissaray. Does Pat Buchanan hold republican values to his heart with comments like below? ----------- Buchanan: "Todd Palin ought to take Levi down to the creek and hold his head underwater until the thrashing stops" 5 hours and 39 minutes ago From the July 13 edition of MSNBC's Morning Joe: MSNBC contributor Pat Buchanan, a strong supporter of Sarah Palin, is extremely unhappy with Levi Johnston for his recent criticism of Sarah Palin, including his appearance on the "Today Show" this morning in which he said Palin, at least in part, resigned the governorship of Alaska in order to make more money. Buchanan had some harsh advice for the Palin family on how to deal with Levi: Well, first, with regard to Levi, I think First Dude up there in Alaska, Todd Palin, ought to take Levi down to the creek and hold his head underwater until the thrashing stops. mediamatters.org/mmtv/200907130007

I suppose you are right that Levi Johnston is an immature infant and that Buchanan should not have been so cruel. Then again he "looks" like an adult so can you blame Buchanan? Well of course you can, he should have know by the infantile comments he was making about Palin! Hmmmm....sound familiar?
