It seems that Obama is considering staying in Iraq LONGER than the 16 months he campaigned for. He also has stated that he would like to keep troops there after the withdrawal, contrary to the Iraqi contract that mandates removal of all troops. "These brigades would be considered noncombat outfits and their presence would have to be agreed in advance by the Iraqi government, which under a deal signed late last year insisted that all U.S. forces — not just combat brigades — be out of Iraq by the end of 2011." Although he did state that part of their purpose would be to: "Obama has said his Iraq policy will include leaving a residual U.S. military force of unspecified composition and size in Iraq and in the region to conduct counter-terrorism missions against al-Qaida in Iraq and to protect American diplomatic and civilian personnel." WOW, somebody here said that Al-Qaida in Iraq was non-existent! They better listen to Obama better! Under consideration is to extend to 19 or 24 months! Here is the AP article: news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090207/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_iraq

What terrorists remain in Iraq CM? Iraq will ALWAYS be in religious strife. Today, tomorrow and the next day.
Forever they will be at war with each other. We have been fighting insurgents. Citizens of Iraq. Not Al Queada. Why hasn't that sunk in yet???

Lou, Cheney claimed that Saddam was training al-Qaeda in Iraq. Did all his leaked stories and bad intelligence make that so? I think Obama is wise if he thinks that al-Qaeda, who went to Iraq after the invasions, deserves close monitoring. They are the real enemy in the GWOT. If Pakistan becomes inhospitable for them Iraq would be a place they might go.
PS- the last time we engaged on the subject of al-Qaeda in Iraq you posted a number of sources as proof. Those turned out to be the articles that resulted from the Cheney leaks. Please do not trot those out again as if they are not credible. They are the equivalent of the INS\FBI crime report. Just trying to save some time here.

I know it is very difficult for you to accept even a scintilla of possibility that al-Qada was a presence in Iraq; but, that is your prerogative. I am no longer interested in dialoging with you because I will not worship at your shrine of brilliance! You see when you suggested "someone" speak to me, I lost respect for any kind of continuing conversation with you as I realized you are not interested in debate; but rather, in pontificating your opinion as fact and truth.

Hey Ann Lou/Lor Coulter... read this article from republican governor Bobby Jindal . He points out how republicans arent conservatives like they claim to be... Id love to see how you are going to spin this now... Is Bobby Jindal a Nazi, does he hate america, is he a secret Obama supporter? You better ask Sean Hannity what to think about this,,,, America FIRED the republican party....tough crap.... You only have yourselves to blame.... ;D www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/02/08/jindal-says-republicans-blame-loss/SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Louisiana Gov. said Saturday that the Republicans only had themselves to blame for losing control of Congress and the White House. "The country fired us from our congressional majority in 2006. Why? The country didn't stop being conservative. The Republican Party did," Jindal told a gathering of Arkansas Republicans. "We became what we came to Washington to change -- the party of earmarks and government spending. The party needs to stop worrying about what to do to fix itself. Let's worry more about fixing our country. Then the party will fix itself."

Lou, Don't drop your pom poms. I went through every single one of your articles and was able to trace them all back to the Cheney leaks. Did you miss the connections. Cheney leaks the articles, they are published as news and then Cheney refers to the articles as further proof that they made their case. The question isn't whether there were al-Qaeda anywhere in Iraq, since there are al-Qaeda in lots of countries we haven't invaded yet like say Canada, the question was whether Saddam was training al-Qaeda or if there was a working relationship. I think you decided to give up on the discussion when you realized you were the only person alive who still believed the false claims. You realize even Cheney knew the link between Saddam and al-Qaeda was nothing like he was claiming.
