Yesterday the first guest from Saint Pierre and Miquelon visited the board. I've never knew there was such a place, it doesn't sound like a location that would be high on my list.

A great day for Democrats in Florida, meth head Andrew Gillum arrested in a thong at a gay orgy. Hunter Biden and Andrew Gillum need to remake the Cheech and Chong movies.

www.nytimes.com/2019/02/07/arts/blackface-american-pop-culture.html?action=click&module=RelatedLinks&pgtype=Article"He keeps showing up, like some slightly bemused and maniacal houseguest, usually intending to get a laugh but instead taking America back into a wicked time warp. The man in blackface stands there, frozen. The photo of him starts to ricochet around our race-haunted land. The outcry begins anew." “Its longevity is because it’s been institutionalized into every aspect of American life,” Dr. Barnes said. “People have perpetuated blackface because we don’t teach minstrel history. If these people had ever been exposed to it in a safe classroom environment, they would know better.” "Judging from not only various records of campus life but also the numerous Instagram accounts of women appearing as “black” personalities — a phenomenon known as “blackfishing” — many do not know better. The popularity of blackface was at its height in the early 20th century and has waned sharply since the ’50s, but it certainly hasn’t disappeared. Rather, it has taken on different forms, perhaps more palatable to modern audiences." For some reason, I never "got" blackface.

It would really piss off Mrs. Dredd if I told her Trump had used Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" as one of his closing songs, but then I'd have to admit I actually watched the farce.

Gosh, another guest "surge" today. We had 836 guests in the last 24 hours. I don't know why that is and I'm not sure I want to know.

www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/05/03/zine/stephen-fry-interview.html?action=click&module=Editors%20Picks&pgtype=Homepage "You said earlier you’ve been reading philosophy. Is there a particular idea that you’re tickled by lately?" "I suppose the real biggie is free will. I find it interesting that no one really talks about it: I would say that 98 percent of all philosophers would agree with me that essentially free will is a myth. It doesn’t exist. That ought to be shocking news on the front of every newspaper. I’m not saying we don’t look both ways before we cross the road; we decide not to leave it to luck as to whether a car is going to hit us. Nor am I saying that we don’t have responsibility for our actions: We have agency over the body in which our minds and consciousness dwell. But we can’t choose our brains, we can’t choose our genes, we can’t choose our parents. There’s so much. I mean, look at the acts of a sociopath, which are performed with absolute will in the sense that he means to do what he’s doing, but he’s doing it because he has desires and impulses which he didn’t choose to have. Nobody elects to be a sociopath. The difference between us and them is one of degree. That certainly interests me."
