Yes, I changed the title of this thread...since the hippies have obviously faded into history. And since they were peace loving, not interested in getting rich, and loved their fellow man (and woman), kind of like Jesus, I think I know where they went...as we speak they are listening to Jerry Garcia and Jimi Hendrix play at a Love-in, with flowers in their hair...

Hmmmm... the hippies are gone, but Rush Limbaugh remains...I guess the Baby Boomers did blow it...

Come to think of it I don’t think I ever knew a gay hippie. But did we love our women and if you want to be a modern day hippie go to Burning Man, same concept.
I had a collection of Jerry Garcia ties but it was stolen. Damn hippies.

I had a collection of Jerry Garcia ties but it was stolen. Damn hippies. I had a sizable collection of them as well, I loved them. I still have a few but haven't worn one more than twice since I retired! My son has the rest!

THx, jg. You must spend a lot of time on youtube. Be careful, you could become addicted. Oddly enough I just found it enjoyable the other night after watching the president duck around the health care news conference. There are some pretty good "old" videos with good music! I will cease sharing my enjoyment with you guys now!

VW bus stolen 35 years ago is found in shipping container bound for EuropeCustoms agents inspecting a load bound for the Netherlands discovered a 1965 van that disappeared from a Spokane repair shop in 1974. CHP investigators are searching for the thieves. "It looks like it's brand new," said Mike Maleta, an investigator with the California Highway Patrol. (Department of Homeland Security) By Mike Anton November 6, 2009 When U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the Port of Los Angeles opened a shipping container bound for the Netherlands, they discovered a 1965 Volkswagen bus stolen in Washington state 35 years ago. Far out, man! [insert picture of JD here] The unusual seizure of the bus on Oct. 19 came during a routine inspection of several Volkswagens that were being shipped by an Arizona restorer to customers in Europe. The vehicle identification number of the bus, which was swiped in Spokane on July 12, 1974, was still in police computers. "Pretty amazing, isn't it?" customs spokesman Jaime Ruiz said Thursday when the find was announced. The restorer, who was not identified, isn't a suspect in the long-ago theft, authorities said. "He's a victim himself. He was an innocent purchaser," said Mike Maleta, an investigator with the California Highway Patrol, who will attempt to trace the vehicle's ownership back through interviews and registration documents. "I'm going to try my best to find the crook," he said. Groovy. Maleta said Spokane police couldn't find the owner. "Allstate paid her $2,500 or so to settle the claim," he said. "Now it's worth $25,000. . . . It's in pristine condition. It looks like it's brand new. So Allstate wanted it."Bummer.mike.anton@latimes.com Copyright © 2009, The Los Angeles Times www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-stolen-bus6-2009nov06,0,5595923.story *** She's a Beauty boys so go to the article and take a look! ***

On the Millennial thread there is a story of how the Millennials are rejecting the crap their Boomer parents are trying to hand down to them because they value experiences over being burdened with stuff. Sounds to me like a revival of an old HIPPIE ethic.
