Hey Dale,
you have always seemed reasonable to me and have had honest discourses so I would not include you in the WACKO right...
there are many level headed republicans,,,just not enough...IMO
Im sure you can say the same for the left...at least from those, you dont have to buy body armour to protect yourself from them..
Ive have noticed a huge up tick in some republicans getting all paranoid about the end of the world....those are the scarry ones to me....

Jack O, just back to rattle cages? From the article: Seems to me that there is a bit of a disconnect between what liberals consider Constitutional (if it irks a "Conservo") and what is not (if it irks a lib). Amendment IVThe right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. If it is a conservative's rights that are being held in jeopardy, the left throws a party. If it is one of theirs, they throw a tantrum. ...
As for the Patriot Act, I thought it was unnecessary and possibly dangerous at the beginning. Now it just appears to been a relatively harmless bureaucratic reorganization. I could be wrong. Jdredd, I think you are quite accurate, actually. The DHS was established to bring together agencies that were previously separate entities that tended to have a hard time communicating or working with each other. Some may recall, for example, that the Coast Guard used to be a part of the Department of Transportation. Putting these agencies together under one administrative office provided better coordination between intelligence, investigative, and enforcement activities. The only flaw was allowing the Justice Department a role, though outside of DHS, in deciding matters such as immigration matters. They have no set rules or laws that they adhere to and are not bound by laws set by Congress or the administration if they see things differently. This function should have been handled by an administrative magistrate within DHS with strict laws and guidelines under which to operate.

Personally, my litmus test for right-wing extremism is anyone who thinks the "Mainstream Media" is liberal!
