I has no qualms about going out on a limb on two subjects, like so much else, I know little about. But read my latest disclaimer if I get around to writing it. So what do Capitalism and Marxism have in common? As usual, I will start by pointing out how they are different. Capitalism is big on individualism, Marxism is not. Case closed. Oh wait, there is something they seem to have in common: Materialism. Both are quite happy ignoring religion, I believe. Or maybe not. I’ve read apologists for Capitalism claim it is inspired by God’s love of the individual. Ok, I’ve already strained my few remaining brain cells enough. I need some ice cream.

So is China Capitalist or Marxist? Looks like they can co-exist. Both are about Materialism. But what is the state of individualism in China? Capitalism did pretty well under one party rule in Germany. How about this: Capitalists believe in Class Struggle, but their class has won.

Here’s another way that Capitalism and Marxism are bedfellows: both are globalists. Neither one has respect for national borders.

Is Capitalism Marxist? Of course not. Capitalism is built on debt. I don’t know enough to say for sure, but I believe Marxism is not. Not that that is stopping the Chinese from taking a page from our book and putting third world countries in debt to them.

As I mentioned earlier, one of the similarities of Capitalism and Communism is both promised to deliver the goods. But Communism totally failed, while Capitalism succeeded. Even for China, still nominally Marxist. By the way, China is still paying its bills. We’re on the verge of not.

It’s not only Capitalism and Marxism that have no respect for national borders, but also religion. And wildlife.

Along with Capitalism and Marxism, there is another force that doesn’t believe in borders: AI.

Im repurposing this lame thread from “Is Capitalism Marxist?” to “Marxist Degrowth Theory.” I have no idea what that is but it sounds fun. Could be the Next Big Outrage for the right wing lemmings after anti-CRT and Anti-Trans(think Bud Light). I never knew Marx was an environmentalist. But then I do think he was a crackpot.
