Even Jordan wasn’t quite sure what to call his self-admitted metaphysical “inquiry”. He admits the final title was inspired by Marx. On my second listening, I’ve decided what it actually is is a poem. I love poetry. And as George Orwell said, all art is propaganda. I’m gambling this will not quickly fade away.

So here is my poetic version of the first minute of Jordan Peterson’s manifesto:
A Conservative Manifesto, Introduction by JBP
A profound crisis of meaning Currently afflicts us Destabilizing and demoralizing The sovereign citizens of the West And the social Institutions Upon which we depend
That crisis has increasingly spread To the remainder of the world’s people Generating confusion And sowing distrust Producing a counterproductive discord In place of the peaceful Voluntary cooperation and competition Which could instead Reign over and unite us
That crisis is in the first place A consequence of a corrosive doubt sown Not least by the careless intellect Regarding the value of the principles Of value, aim, and action That have heretofore inspired, guided, and stabilized us.

Did I miss something or did JBP completely skip over the most important issue there is, that of War and Peace? Or does he think that if we all turn conservative the lion and the lamb shall lie together peacefully?

One thing the Boomers accomplished for good or ill was they opened Pandoras Box in 1968, putting an end to the existing culture. And the right has been trying to put it all back in the box ever since. This is JBP’s attempt.

Oh boy, it’s the Peterman’s part two of his Conservative Manifesto! I’ll get my poetry fix.

Do I really want to go through with an item by item attempt to dissent from the claim that Peterson makes that conservatism owns all of humanity’s virtues? Maybe. Got nothing better to do. So what’s the first one? Humility. What, like Trump? Or claiming to know what’s best for the world? Gosh, the right would never do THAT. OK, maybe they are humble before their imaginary God. Still doesn’t stop them from telling the rest of world what it should believe.

Sorry, I suddenly got real bored with JBP’s manifesto.

I’ve been diverted from commenting on JBP’s Manifesto by the late realization of the sorry state of the left that has lost its way. It’s almost like his Manifesto is a broadside against a nemesis thatno longer exists, or is at least inconsequential. But the right needs a boogeyman, so they invent some kind of leftist zombie. Which is one of the reasons I am indifferent to a Republican sweep in November, because it is a victory over nothing.

ok I got hung up commenting on PBJ’s manifesto on the second “conservative value”, Liberty. It’s such a broad concept. Is he saying that conservatives value liberty, and liberals do not? Maybe. But I do belong to the American Civil Liberties Union, for what that’s worth. Of course, take liberty to its extreme and you end up with (gag) Libertarians. Or Anarchists.

So the third “Conservative value” is Autonomy. Is this whole manifesto basically a rant against collectivism?

I’m not coming across a lot of feedback from Jordans manifesto. Maybe I should have known it was a bit too cerebral for an anti-intellectual right.

Everyone else has already forgotten JP’s manifesto, but not me. Am I obsessed with Jordan? Maybe. I should as my therapist about it. Anyway, I will get back to commenting on it eventually. I gave you fair warning.

As I mention elsewhere, JP has a new project, the Alliance of Responsible Citizenship, kind of a Conservative Manifesto 2.0. I have to admit he doesn’t pander to the Unwoke Masses, as his arguments seem a bit too cerebral for them. I could be wrong.

Watched the ARC trailer. Much more digestible than the Conservative Manifesto. And of course, I must dissent. But it is hard to dissent from the main message, which is “hope”. Who doesn’t like hope? I do believe there is a lot to learn from despair, though. I’m also wondering about the groups title. What is “responsible citizenship”? Pretty vague. How about “Alliance for Traditional Dogmas”?
