Listening to Goodfellows from the Hoover Institute. Their message, of course, is Deterrence Deterrence Deterrence. They even quote the old Roman saying “If you want peace, prepare for war”. And as I’ve said before, if you want war you also prepare for war. Either way, the MIC profits. I’m glad the term “military industrial complex” has made a return.

This will be my third post directed at the NYT for its cheerleading for more death in the Ukraine, but ithey deserve it. And of course, they bring up the sacred dogma of deterrence. If we don’t stand up to Russia now, who knows what could happen? I’m sure the Russians are saying the same thing about NATO. No one is hiding that NATO’s goal is regime change in Moscow. My money is on Speaker Johnson caving any day. Maybe we need regime change in Washington.

The big spending package for aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan is sailing through Congress. All justified by “deterrence”. Franlkly, it’s impossible to spend too much on deterrence, isn’t it? How would you measure “too much”? It not like we are running out of borrowed money in the near future. But it’s not just the money. It’s that the money could be being spent on something that’s not supernatural, like deterrence. Fat chance. Same-o, same-o since I came of voting age.
