www.nytimes.com/2018/10/25/us/politics/trump-army-border-mexico.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage"The military deployment is one element of a multifaceted effort that senior administration officials have been discussing privately for weeks to try to satisfy the president’s demand to do more to secure the border. Kirstjen M. Nielsen, the Homeland Security secretary, who has briefed Mr. Trump about the caravan as well as data showing a large uptick in the number of apprehensions at the border over the past year, has been leading the effort. On Friday, Ms. Nielsen is scheduled to travel to California to visit a newly constructed border barrier that the Department of Homeland Security describes as “President Trump’s 30-foot border wall.” The barrier is actually a replacement project first proposed by the Border Patrol in 2009 under the Obama administration, which replaces older structures constructed in the 1990s. The $18 million project replaces two and a half miles of old fencing." So I assume that bitch Kirstjen is going to visit my home town, Calexico. If I didn't have other obligations, I'd love to go down there and make some noise to make her feel unwelcome.

www.nytimes.com/2018/11/09/world/americas/caravan-migrant-mexico.html?action=click&module=Well&pgtype=Homepage§ion=World"It became the largest and most dramatic iteration of a yearslong tradition that had largely passed unnoticed: Central Americans fleeing poverty and violence in their homelands, traveling en masse toward the United States, the size of their groups providing security from the criminals who prey on migrants during the journey. The caravan, which arrived in Mexico City this week, captured the attention of President Trump soon after it began. During the run-up to the midterm elections, Mr. Trump used the caravan to fire up anti-immigrant sentiments and rally his base. He also used it to justify the deployment of thousands of troops at the southwest border. And on Thursday, the Trump administration enacted new rules giving the president authority to deny asylum to almost any migrant who crosses the border illegally — a significant overhaul of longstanding laws that have allowed people fleeing persecution to ask for sanctuary." The caravan continues, as does Trump's Parade of Hate. Not that there aren't things I hate, just not desperate families.

Found the below on FB
This teacher really lays it out - it can’t get much worse. Nine hundred teachers just got laid off from the Los Angeles Unified School District. They are $650,000 over their annual budget. The following comments by an English teacher help to explain one area that looms large over California's educational crisis. I hope each person receiving this mail will read it carefully, all the way to the end. It is sad what is happening to our great country, all because our politicians are afraid they will miss out on a vote. What a travesty!
This English teacher has phrased it the best I've seen yet and it should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent.
From a California school teacher....
As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of: I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title-1 school, meaning that its students average in the lower socio-economic and income levels.
Most of the schools you are hearing about are Compton, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park, etc., where their students are protesting – these are also Title-1 schools.
Title-1 schools are on the free-breakfast and free-lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking about a glass of milk and a roll. But a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make the Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (Our tax dollars at work!)
I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (More of our tax dollars at work!)
I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department, or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything. My budget was already substantial, but I ended up buying new computers for the Computer Learning Center, half of which, one month later, were carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America. (More and more of our tax dollars at work!)
I have had to intervene several times for young substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less than 3 months, who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them putas (whores) and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears.
Free medical care, free education, free food, free day care, etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled not only to be in this country, but also to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?
To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society, because they happen to like their gardener and/or housekeeper, and they like to pay less for tomatoes, I say: Spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the true costs.
Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases, etc., etc., etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.
Americans, we need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?
It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by age 15, and that refuses to assimilate, plus an American culture that has become so weak and worried about "political correctness," that we don't have the will to do what is needed.
If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know including your Congressman and Senators.
Cheap labor? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about? Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage.
Consumers don't want expensive produce. Government will tell you 'Americans don't want the jobs.'
But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as "cheap labor."
Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an income tax return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200, free.
Also....
1 He qualifies for Section-8 housing and subsidized rent;
2 He qualifies for food stamps;
3 He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care;
4 His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school;
6 He requires bilingual teachers and books;
7 He qualifies for relief from high energy bills;
8 If they are, or become aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI;
9 Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare (All of this at taxpayer's {our} expense);
10 He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowner’s insurance;
11 Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material;
12 He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits;
13 Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his;
14 The American taxpayers also pays for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up. Cheap labor? Yeah right! Wake up people! These are the questions we should be addressing to the Presidential candidates for either party. We must take action or we will all go down the drain because a few don't care. And if you think this is bad, just wait until a Democrat becomes President and the redistribution of wealth becomes the norm in this ex-Democracy.

www.nytimes.com/2020/05/06/opinion/sunday/coronavirus-essential-workers.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage"True to form, America still wants it both ways. It wants to be fed. And it wants to demonize the undocumented immigrants who make that happen. Recently, President Trump tweeted that he would “temporarily suspend immigration into the United States” — a threat consistent with the hit-the-immigrant-like-a-piñata policy he spearheaded in his 2016 campaign. Less than 24 hours later, the president backed down in the face of business groups fearful of losing access to foreign labor, announcing that he’d keep the guest worker program."

www.nytimes.com/2021/03/08/us/politics/biden-venezuela-maduro.html"WASHINGTON — As many as 320,000 Venezuelans living in the United States were given an 18-month reprieve on Monday from the threat of being deported, as the Biden administration sought to highlight how dangerous that country has become under President Nicolás Maduro. The immigrants also will be allowed to work legally in the United States as part of the temporary protective status the administration issued as it considers the next steps in a yearslong American pressure campaign to force Mr. Maduro from power. “The living conditions in Venezuela reveal a country in turmoil, unable to protect its own citizens,” Alejandro N. Mayorkas, the homeland security secretary, said in a statement. “It is in times of extraordinary and temporary circumstances like these that the United States steps forward to support eligible Venezuelan nationals already present here, while their home country seeks to right itself out of the current crises.” Hey, whatever criteria they want use to let political refugees stay in the US is fine with me. Let 'em come in from "socialist" countries like Cuba and Venezuela and ignoring violence in "free world" countries like El Salvador and Honduras.

www.newsmax.com/politics/border-migrant-kamala-harris/2021/03/24/id/1015030/"More than 15,000 unaccompanied migrant children are in the custody of HHS and Customs and Border Protection, according to agency data. Under the law, children who are apprehended are supposed to spend no more than 72 hours in CBP custody before they are transferred to HHS shelters. But lack of shelter space — already in shorter supply due to pandemic-related distancing restrictions — has forced many children to stay in CBP facilites that are unfit for children for longer than three days." So this is the "crisis"? 15,000 kids? About 3 or 4 high schools?

The right wing mythology is that libs want less immigration and citizenship restrictions in the belief that it will mean more Democratic voters. Maybe there are some libs that shallow, but I think it is a failure on the right to understand the left. I think it is a basic belief in the Brotherhood of Man which motivates sympathy for immigrants. I wouldn't care if they all voted Republican. We need to make room for the desperate.

I reluctantly take my hat off to the governor of Texas for busing illegals to DC. Now the pathetic mayor is begging for help in dealing with them. Texas sharing the fun!

Always looking for something to stick it to the right in payback for what they do to the left, I’m realizing that the two million asylum seekers supposedly crossing our border since Biden took over was the vengeance I was looking for. Pissed off righties warms my heart.

Time to revive CM’s thread. It is a lot more fun than my border thread. Whether “illegals” are “destroying” America is open to debate, but certainly European invaders after 1492 did a lot of destruction. But lots of people are freaking out and lots of politicians are making hay over it. Here’s Ross’s take in the NYT: “The liberal confusion over this situation, the spectacle of Democratic politicians like Eric Adams and Kathy Hol c h ul sounding like Fox News hosts, is a foretaste of the difficult future facing liberals across the Western world.” But he does make the point how difficult stopping illegal immigration is, and also notes “the way the internet and smartphones have made it easier to make your way around the world”. Yes, pesky proto-AI, which the internet is, screwing things up again. AI will destroy borders. Sorry for the long post. Brevity is a virtue.

Well obviously immigration will be a big issue on November. And there are a lot of people who believe illegals are destroying us. There seems to be a lot of new people on my town, but most seem to be from the Middle East. I think they brought their money with them, with all the new construction going on all the Ferraris and Lamborghinis I’ve been seeing. Who could complain? Oh I forgot, everyone is leaving California but you’d never know it considering how much worse traffic has gotten.

Oh I forgot, everyone is leaving California but you’d never know it considering how much worse traffic has gotten. You found an old one. Good deal. Traffic is a big deal, I have no clue where everyone is coming from. A weeks weeks ago driving south on the 15 through Temecula at 2:00 p.m. it was single digit speeds for several miles. Traffic makes my top 10 list of why I dislike California. My goal is sever all ties to California in 2024, never to return. No fancy cars where I live, but I don't live in La Jolla, Del mar, or Rancho Santa Fe. What I do see is an alarming increase in homeless people. I've read there is a homeless issue on the March ballot of several billions of dollars. I would certainly vote a big fat NO on that one. No need to give Newscum more funds to spend it on his pet projects lining the pockets of his buddies. When a lot of the homeless are illegals they shouldn't get a dime. Just go home.
U-Haul charges a premium to leave California, exits out number entries. Yet Hertz has to bring cars in from other states to meet the demand. Oh yes, illegals need tax payer cars. That makes sense.

Ha-ha! Jacumba, thirty miles east of here, is becoming famous as a hole in the wall for asylum seekers to cross into the U.S. Biden is alleged to be considering new Trump-like restrictions on crossers. No surprise. When push comes to shove, libs easily move to the right. OK with me, as I’ve said before, let them in or keep them out, don’t care.

Interesting watching how much anti-immigration propaganda hay the right is making with the murder of a woman in Georgia by an “illegal”. This is not a new thing, anti-immigrant types have used this kind of outrage many times throughout history, that is, criminal immigrants.
