Is it true illegal immigrants are destroying America? 150 tons of trash in environmentally sensitive areas of Arizona have been removed in the last 2 years. Why aren’t the environmentalists speaking up? edit: remove question mark from thread title

I have seen the living conditions of many, in canyons, fields, etc. trash and body waste are everywhere near their camps. Also, as you mentioned, the routes they take are littered with trash. I saw a picture of a transition point in Arizona where they would change their clothes then dump their old clothes, back packs, etc. The place looked like a mess and I can believe the tons of garbage. What I also saw there were piles of good clothes that could be washed and redistributed to the needy and enough almost new back packs that could supply every student for several large elementary schools. I truly hope that various non-profit organizations are participating in recycling of these items. I will try to locate one of the pictures I saw and post it if I can. I agree that it is a wonder that environmentalists are keeping quite about this issue. But they usually focus where they can get the biggest bang for their buck. They are in a catch 22 in that the illegals are trashing sensitive areas that the environmenatlists have been successful in getting declared sensitive, while the Environmentalists have stopped the Border Patrol from patroling many of those very areas in order to prevent them from damaging the environment. In this case they must give up something to get something. They obviously don't like the trade off as they know that our government can do something with the Border Patrol, while illegals are not likely to ever be concerned about the sensitive habitats of plants and animals.

There may not be mass executions and beheadings in the United States yet but there is evidence that crimes with a distinct Mexican MO are being committed on this side of the border. This week, it was reported the Arizona legislature heard from law enforcement officials that two counties in the state are seeing more and more "rape trees" — "places where Mexican drug cartel members rape female border crossers and hang their clothes." These women are gang raped, their panties hung in the trees by their attackers. Some would say they got what they deserve; they are here illegally, some say if they were not fearful of being deported they would report the crimes against them. It is time the American people put a stop to the travesty of our open borders. It is time to understand that "open borders" means they are open to every kind of evil, including gang rape and human trafficking. For any decent, law-abiding American, to see a rape tree is to gaze upon the face of the enemy of civilization. To see the blood-stained ground beneath them is to behold the faces of their victims. When the proponents of illegal immigration and condemn the Minutemen as "racists" and "vigilantes" ask them, "What about the rape trees?" The only ones to provide protect and to do anything are the Minutemen. source: www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1471676/posts

Mcgonigle Canyon, isn't that where the great Rick Roberts organized a protest and was a no-show? Bruce, RR promised to bring hot dogs and the man never showed up! Actually, RR was just a part of what started out to be a day of clean-up in the canyon, but, snowballed into A Campout In McGonigle Canyon. The whole thing started with a resident of the Rancho Penasquitos neighborhood, Julie Adams. Adams was interviewed a couple of times by Ana Garcia, NBC News, Los Angeles. This caught the attention of Jeff Schwilk and Christie Czajkowski of the San Diego Minutemen. They actually went through with the Clean-up, and were investigated for taking personal property ostensibly owned by the illegals. Word got to RR, who then came up with the idea of camping out at the canyon. He wanted to set up camp right next to the illegals. It didn't happen. The illegals were cleared out the day before by police at the request of DR Horton, the owner of the land. Horton asked that the no-tresspassing signs be enforced and we were kept out. My wife and I were mildly disappointed about not camping that night. ;D To the best of my knowledge, RR never explained his absence.

We need to secure our borders so this kind of terror is not perpetuated!

When law enforcement turns its head, this becomes commonplace.

dale-did you and the others note the footnotes which at least partially demonstrate that some of the "facts" presented are false and/or misleading? The mistake of counting anybody with an Hispanic name as an illegal is getting to be rather common in order to push an agenda.

Hatch,
If I remember (no small task) correctly Rick made the statement a few days after the McGonigle Canyon.gathering that he did not go because KFMB had legal concerns.
Bruce,
Snopes purpose is to validate rumors, they have no ax to grind, for the most part they do a pretty good job. I have daily contact with illegal immigrants, over the last ten years I never known one to pay taxes.
For the safety of the illegal immigrant and America, the only solution is to secure the boarder.

Bruce I did read it all. I dont totally trust any source material anymore. Not 100% all is bias IMO. The best we can do is relate it to our life esperience and try to come up with educated assumptions. Media avoids pointing out ethnicity in many criminal storys. Drive by escondido middle school on auto parkway and I challenge you to find 10 caucasian students there. Go to social security office in san marcos pop you head in and see if you hear any english being spoken. Truth is truth, and cant be ignored unless you looking at it thru eyes that benefit from it not being the truth. I am not pointing this out and saying hispanics are a bad people. I personally sponsored two in 86 during reagans amnesty, but we are discussing the impact of illegal immigration and I see it everyday.

Dale, I am sure that most of us have seen the impact on our society from illegal immigration. Not all of us, however, interpret what we see in the same ways.
The Snopes piece was interesting for a number of reasons. Someone out there wanted to paint the illegals in a far worse light than reality suggests. That is racism. You can't argue against illegal immigration effectively and credibly when this kind of rhetoric is used.
On the other hand, Snopes proved that where there is smoke, there is fire. A large part of the figures were based on actual reports, studies and testimonies. Some numbers were rounded up. Some exaggerated. None were patently false.
That has been a part of this country's problem. The issue is either constantly whitewashed or painted with broad brushes using only black. In other words, people are lying about it.
Take LULAC, MeCHA and La Raza are incapable of telling the truth. Some Minutemen groups distort the truth (others adhere to it like stink on the situation, which is...) while certain political groups, to remain unnamed, feed off it for votes and hence don't "see" the problem.
I see no evidence coming from Obama or the liberal congress that they even have a clue about it. They have, for example, chosen to restrict requiring use of E-verify by contractors who do business with the government. Frankly speaking, this is awfully fkng stupid on the part of the administration and the left. It will only do more harm to those they claim to want to champion. They can't keep promising jobs to people that need them if a certain percentage is going to go to those that don't belong here.
It's even dumber that BIG BUSINESS, usually conservative, continues to hire them and cry that they can't keep their doors open if they don't. The shear idiocy of trying to justify breaking the law like this is profoundly astounding. Hell, give me a clear freeway when I want to drive to the Gas Lamp Quarter so I can drive 90 miles per hour and do my part to keep businesses open down there.
We all have to stop lying about this problem and look at it realistically to fix it. Otherwise, it's going to be just another trip through a looking glass.
And we ain't gonna like what we see in it from either direction.

This presentation of "Immigration By The Numbers" by Roy Beck of Numbers USA has been around awhile, but it's worth revisiting. This is part 1.
