So the latest target of the right wing radio propagandists is the Antifa/BLM crowd. The demonization is going full bore. The unspoken subtext is that the white nationalists aren't so bad, just like Trump implied. The poor little white nationalists are being picked on by the mean Antifa types. Of course, the Middle Class hates protesters of any stripe.

Coincidentally, right out of the blue, the only person who's opinion really matters, Mrs. Dredd, informed my that Antifa is a bunch of scumbags. Well, that settles it for me. No more defending THEM. I think it was the masks.

So the noise from the nut right is that Antifa should be declared a "terrorist" organization. Could be interesting. Would any of them have the stones to say "So lock me up, you fascist douchebags!"?. Probably not. Even they know the Prime Directive of Modern Man is "Look out for Numero Uno". Except for those wacky suicide bombers.

www.nationalreview.com/article/452384/blade-runner-2049-dystopia-boring-predictable"The replicants in Blade Runner 2049 present no political allegory (unless panic-stricken viewers see Antifa clones — inhuman despoilers of liberty — under every bed), but their conflict with K revives a problem that already existed in the first film, based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?: The man-vs.-robot concept is banal except to those who admire Dick’s dystopian fantasy as prophecy." This posting could have gone in a lot of threads, but I stuck it in here because of the slam of Antifa. Inhuman despoilers of liberty? Maybe liberty isn't what it used to be. Also, can supporters of Capitalism not discount possible dystopian futures when our future is being created by Capitalism? That is, they may be convinced our present Free Market can only do good, but isn't the corporation that made replicants an example of a free market? Won't the Free Market allow us to make robot slaves? Alas, not my problem as I suspect robot slaves are still a long way off. More like 2099 than 2049. Either way I'll be long liberated from this trash planet.

In the years since, Ms. Fink, who grew up in Illinois and works in hospital administration, has not fully convinced her father that he was wrong, despite the prevailing image of Portland as a beacon of tolerance. She has wondered, in her travels around the state, whether a different, more troubling Oregon was never far away, lurking beneath the surface. That conundrum came to the fore on Saturday. Far-right groups arrived for a rally on the Willamette River waterfront, with lots of blustery talk of violence. Leftists, many of them masked and apparently equally committed to fight, met them in counterprotest. And the police, in a city where demonstrations routinely turn violent or destructive, held the line against both sides, later dispersing the crowds with flash-bang grenades and pepper spray." Well, that was anticlimatic. But predictable. It's like they are going through the motions, but no one feels like actually putting themselves on the line. So 21st Century. As I've said before, if modern Americans were in 1776, we'd still be part of England.

Antifa are scum of the earth, they would wait until someone was separated from the group then they would beat the stuffings out of the person. They spit on the police, they spit on the American flag and I bet few of them actually work but rather suck off the system they hate.

I wish I could read the whole article but Murdoch wants a subscription fee. I have a feeling I know where it was going when it brought up feces.

Watched some videos of the "riot" in Portland. Looked more like a block party. What made me laugh was the Patriot Prayer folk line dancing.

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/aug/15/portland-oregon-far-right-rally"Portland is preparing for a large far-right rally on Saturday that may be the largest in a series of demonstrations that have descended on the city in the Trump era. Police in the Oregon city are fearful of an outbreak of violence at the “End Domestic Terrorism” rally, which is targeted at Portland’s antifascist groups, who in recent years have clashed with rightwing activists in running street battles. The protest has been promoted primarily by Floridian Joe Biggs, a member of the rightwing Proud Boys organization. Biggs is a combat veteran and a former employee of the conspiracy broadcaster Alex Jones’s Infowars network. He claims that up to 1,000 people from around the country will attend Saturday’s unpermitted event on the city’s waterfront." Glad I don't live in Portland (the last time I was there was to pick up a puppy). I'd be tempted to show up to oppose this march and frankly with my high blood pressure I don't need the adrenaline. Riots are a young folks game.

President Trump weighed in on the tense situation in Portland on Saturday morning, calling out the anti-fascist group known as Antifa on Twitter and suggesting support for labeling it a terror organization. He did not mention any of the right-wing groups, although both they and Antifa have a history of using violence against their opponents." Trump is an endless source of hilarity!

www.nytimes.com/2020/05/31/us/politics/trump-antifa-terrorist-group.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage"President Trump said on Twitter on Sunday that the United States would designate a group of far-left anti-fascism activists as a terrorist organization, a declaration that lacked any clear legal authority, as his administration sought to blame the group for violent protests across the nation over the weekend.“The United States of America will be designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization,” Mr. Trump wrote. The president has periodically criticized antifa, a contraction of the word “anti-fascist” that has come to be associated with a diffuse movement of left-wing protesters who engage in more aggressive techniques like vandalism. But it was not clear that Mr. Trump’s declaration would have any real meaning beyond his characteristic attempts to stir a culture-war controversy, attract attention and please his conservative base." Ha-ha! You may get your wish, T. Anti-fascists as terrorists. I always thought it was inevitable that leftist groups would be called "terrorists". Is it a sign of right-wing desperation? Being the chickenshit I am, I guess I should change the name of this thread.

Ha-ha! I love it how always conspiracy-minded righties are targeting Antifa as the big boogeyman in all this unrest. Their ability to distract the public with fantasies always amuses me.

If Antifa is a terrorist group, what about Black Lives Matter? That's what I thought. They wouldn't dare. Antifa is easy pickins.
