Officially charged with sexually harrassment! And now a second woman has come forward with her story. Believe me, there are a LOT more if only they too would come forward. I think the count is 3 and climbing.

It has since gone to 7!!!! And yet 6 members of the demoRAT central committee still support head-lock Filner! Also the three SD councilwomen are keeping quiet, talk about party loyalty. Hopefully the voters of SD will remember this when the bills start coming in and remember Emerald, Lightner, & Cole put party AHEAD of the best interests of the citizens of San Diego!

The wife had lunch with one of the ladies this week, I didn't know they've been friends for years. The wife said Filner was briefly disgusted. One comment made, "Filner's lack of discretion has been known for many years." My take, dems sweep negativity under the rug almost always if they have a "D" behind their name.
At least 2 weeks in August the women of San Diego will be safe.

Well, I guess this thread will be obsolete tomorrow. Filner will be gone, but Manchester will go on.

Well, now Manchester and his cronies will get what they want: another chance to put a Republican Establishment tool like Sanders in the mayor's office.

So I’m guessing you would prefer a misogynist pig as mayor rather than any republican. That’s a pretty sad commentary JD. But if the shoe fits, wear it in unstylish fashion.
One thing that is consistent amongst liberals: hatred for women.

One thing that is consistent amongst liberals: hatred for women. U got me all wrong, I hated that the Dems ran that geezer in the first place, and was appalled it took them so long to turn on him after it became obvious he was a pervert. But hey, I learned the Dems had a misogynist streak in 2008 when they dumped Hillary for Obama. Is the GOP any better? You tell me.

Is the GOP any better? You tell me. If I have to pick, I'd pick the GOP but that's like picking between jumping a cliff or being thrown off a cliff.

Here's an article you won't be seeing in the U-T: www.latimes.com/local/la-me-san-diego-mayor-20130924,0,1310610.story "SAN DIEGO — Republican Party leaders and their allies in the business community did not like it when a Democrat was elected mayor last November. Still shaken by the chaotic nine months of Bob Filner's tenure, including his feud with the tourism industry and his orders to halt several construction projects, Republicans are determined to see the mayor's office returned to GOP hands. So on Aug. 31, the day after Filner's resignation became effective, an invitation-only meeting was held in the La Jolla home of Tom Sudberry, a prominent developer and Republican contributor. Depending on who is commenting, the meeting was either an attempt by civic-spirited citizens to return stability to a shaken and demoralized city government or a throwback to the days when a small group of kingmakers could decide San Diego's future." "DeMaio had his vocal loyalists, most notably Douglas Manchester, 71, hotel developer and owner of the U-T San Diego newspaper who likes to be called Papa Doug. San Diego has not had a decent mayor in 15 years, Manchester loudly told the group.
Manchester's comment did not sit well with Jerry Sanders, who was mayor from 2006 to 2012 and is now chief executive of the Chamber of Commerce. Sanders, 63, had backed Dist. Atty. Bonnie Dumanis over DeMaio in 2012 and was among those who considered Faulconer the party's best choice now." "Two days after the meeting, Manchester's newspaper ran an editorial urging DeMaio not to join the mayor's race. The reasoning tracked closely with what was said at the La Jolla meeting. When DeMaio announced that he would stay in the race for Congress, an editorial praised his "statesmanship" and loyalty to his city and political party."

I rarely buy the UT but I had to today because of the headline "THEY SAVED THE CITY"' and three big photos of Faulconer, Gloria, and Goldsmith. They are the UT 's "People of the Year" for saving Manchesterville, oh I mean San Diego, from Bob Filner. I guess driving a stake through Bob's perv heart wasn't enough, they have to kick the ashes. Not that I have any sympathy, but I find it amusing.

I changed the name of this thread because it will soon be "Filner who?", but "Papa" Manchester will continue his drive to remake San Diego to his liking.

www.nationalreview.com/article/370696/duel-sun-john-fund"You may not have heard much about Tuesday’s election for mayor of San Diego, the nation’s eighth largest city, but liberals and union bosses have been focused on it for months. “San Diego is — or at least ought to be — the center of the universe for progressives, because its mayoral election is likely the biggest opportunity we’ll get between now and the 2014 midterms to flex our muscles within the broader Democratic coalition, and to move our body politic to the left,” writes the Daily Kos’s Ian Reifowitz." "While union spending has boosted his candidacy, Alvarez is weighed down by his associations with disgraced former mayor Bob Filner, who in 2012 became the first Democrat in a quarter century to be elected San Diego mayor. The liberal Filner left office after less than a year, hounded by sexual-harassment lawsuits and a shambolic management style. That set up Tuesday’s special election to select a replacement." " If Alvarez is elected, he will become the first Latino mayor in one of the nation’s most populous cities. Even more important, he will show that the Democratic model of Obama’s 2012 reelection — flood-the-zone spending and an awesome turnout machine — can still deliver the goods after the failure of the Obamacare website and the dip in the president’s approval ratings." Here's the National Review helping out one of their own: Papa Manchester and his boy Faulconer. I was driving in Point Loma the other day, where lots of rich folk live, and it was a sea of Faulconer signs. I also heard a 30-second ad on 760 for Faulconer, and they said "Union bosses" three times while slamming Alvarez. I guess for some people "Union bosses" is almost equivalent to "Islamic Terrorists". So who is polarizing America? And who is waging class warfare?

Well, Faulconer is the new mayor, and Manchester and his attack dog Goldsmith can now rest easy. The Republican Establishment, after the Filner hiccup, is now back in the driver's seat. Boredom will return to City Hall. I wonder what sunk Alvarez, the memory of Filner or Obama's endorsement?

Well, it's been a good week for San Diego conservatives, and they don't mind telling you so. First, Papa Manchester's boy was elected mayor, and then a court decided that county by county application of concealed carry was unconstitutional. I think that anyone (except law enforcement) who thinks they need to carry a concealed gun is a little nutty, but whatever.
I did buy Manchester's fishwrap this morning to see the daily gloat over the mayor's race, and there was a puff piece by a lady who went to college with Faulconer expressing just how awesome Kevin is. He's a master of diversity in case you didn't know, and now a possible President contender. No, really. I'm sure we will be reading about how he can walk on water in the next few years.
But the UT did have a nice article on the USS Constellation (CV-64), about to be turned into F-150's or Titans.
It's also interesting that the USS Ronald Reagan is moving from San Diego to be homeported in Japan. I'm sure the admirals who recently spouted off about The Chinese Threat will be thrilled.
