www.usatoday.com/story/money/2016/02/29/judge-refuses-dismiss-lawsuit-filed-sumner-redstones-former-girlfriend/81116614/"A judge in Los Angeles has ruled Monday that a lawsuit filed by Sumner Redstone’s former girlfriend, who's seeking to be restored as the health care agent of the media mogul, can proceed, according to reports. Redstone, the 92-year old former chairman of Viacom and CBS Corp., removed Manuela Herzer from his will last year, prompting her to file a lawsuit that challenged Redstone’s mental competency to make such decisions. Redstone’s lawyer filed a motion to dismiss the case, arguing that Herzer was financially motivated." This dirtbag billionaire is not even dead yet (though he's probably on life support), and they are already fighting over his billions. I feel sorry for the guy, though, because I bet Satan already has a nice mansion waiting for him in Hell. Just no air conditioning.

blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2016/05/13/sheldon-adelson-endorses-donald-trump/"Billionaire casino owner Sheldon Adelson has endorsed Donald Trump, declaring the election of another Democrat in 2016 would be “frightening”. “I am endorsing Trump’s bid for president and strongly encourage my fellow Republicans — especially our Republican elected officials, party loyalists and operatives, and those who provide important financial backing — to do the same,” Mr. Adelson, chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. and a prolific Republican donor, wrote in the Washington Post." A billionaire endorsing a billionaire. Now there is a shock, isn't it? But the rule of America by billionaires is becoming more blatant every year.

While the Billionaires may not be succeeding in destroying Democracy and replacing it with a Plutocracy yet, they seem to be doing a good job of destroying the GOP, at least on a national level. Once again, the Law of Unintended Consequences.

www.nytimes.com/2021/05/28/us/politics/foster-friess-big-donor-to-republicans-dies-at-81.html?action=click&module=Well&pgtype=Homepage§ion=ObituariesFoster Friess, a Wyoming businessman who founded an investment firm, made a fortune and gave a lot of it away to Republican presidential candidates and charities, sometimes with flair, died on Thursday in Scottsdale, Ariz. He was 81. His organization, Foster’s Outriders, which confirmed the death, said he had been receiving care at the Mayo Clinic there for myelodysplastic syndrome, a disorder of the blood cells and bone marrow. Gov. Mark Gordon of Wyoming, who defeated Mr. Friess in the Republican gubernatorial primary in 2018, writing on Twitter, called Mr. Friess “a strong and steady voice for Republican and Christian values.” Mr. Friess’s run for governor was his only try at major elected office. In the political arena he was primarily known for his donations, particularly to the presidential bids of Rick Santorum, the former United States senator from Pennsylvania, in the 2012 and 2016 campaigns. After Mr. Santorum left the 2016 race, Mr. Friess became one of the first Republican megadonors to embrace Donald J. Trump." Another right wing billionaire bites the Big Burrito.

Here’s a ten year old thread that maybe should be in the conspiracy thread. Why would billionaires hate democracy? It interferes with their control of nations? But actually, it doesn’t really seem to.

From the NYT:
“WASHINGTON — A new conservative nonprofit group scored a $1.6 billion windfall last year via a little-known donor — an extraordinary sum that could give Republicans and their causes a huge financial boost ahead of the midterms, and for years to come.
The source of the money was Barre Seid, an electronics manufacturing mogul, and the donation is among the largest — if not the largest — single contributions ever made to a politically focused nonprofit. The beneficiary is a new political group controlled by Leonard A. Leo, “
Am I wrong to think conservative billionaire outnumber liberal? Of course Liberalism, such as it is, is down on its luck right now. Only conservative overreaching can save it.

Another billionaire destroying Democracy: Peter Thiel. Heard him interviewed by a guy from the Hoover Institute. It was a love fest. He claimed the Republicans were the Rebel Alliance and the Democrats were the Empire. The right is fighting the culture war, they just aren’t very good at it.

Looks more and more like 2024 will be a replay of 2020 in our Presidential election, less than a year away. The system that the Founding Old Men set up 200 years ago seems to be floundering in corruption. Well, nothing lasts forever. What do billionaires have to do with it all? I have no idea. What is our way out? I have no idea. The right wants to reverse time. Good luck with that. The Marxists are dead. Billionaires, our new aristocracy, want a status quo than will enrich them even more, and everyone else just wants to be one. I’d bring up AI but I’m tired of the subject.

Elon Musk seems to be jumping on the anti-immigrant bandwagon. I don’t know what his long term agenda is, but I do believe like all billionaires he is all about the Will to Power.
