www.thefiscaltimes.com/2014/10/10/Merger-ISIS-and-al-Qaeda-Could-Cripple-Civilized-World"As ISIS continues to advance on the Syrian town of Kobani and close in on Turkey’s border, experts in Islamic radical movements think the terror group may merge with its al-Qaeda mother organization soon. Together, the group would represent the greatest terror threat to the civilized world. “I think Britain, Germany and France will witness significant attacks in their territories by the Islamic State. Al-Baghdadi [the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, otherwise known as ISIS] may reconcile with al-Zawhiri [the leader of the al-Qaeda central organization] to fight the crusader enemy. The attacks by the United States and her allies will unite the two groups,” The recent US intervention in the region along with the new US-led airstrike campaign against ISIS has actually forced the two groups to renew negotiations. For example, recent reports suggested that ISIS and al-Nusra Front are together planning the war against the US-led alliance. The al-Qaeda affiliated Khorasan group in Syria that was also targeted in the recent air attacks declared a few days ago in an audio message that it had joined ISIS. Add to that the Taliban in Pakistan who are hopping on board the ISIS train and you have a potential jihadi World War III. Lurid enough for you?

Overuse of the drugs in chicken, hog and cattle farms in the United States has led to the rise of resistant strains there, and research has shown that as much as half of antibiotic prescriptions in the United States are unnecessary. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated last year that two million people are sickened by resistant bacteria every year in the United States and 23,000 die as a result. But efforts to crack down on inappropriate antibiotic use in the United States and much of Europe have been successful, with prescriptions dropping from 2000 to 2010. That drop was more than offset, however, by growing use in the developing world. Global sales of antibiotics for human consumption rose 36 percent from 2000 to 2010, with Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa accounting for 76 percent of that increase. In India, much of that growth has been driven by private doctors who deliver about 90 percent of care here and are often poorly trained. Much of these doctors’ income comes from drug sales." This is where the "free market" the Libertarians worship leads. Unregulated use of antibiotics is making them useless.

If I was going to name this thread now, I wouldn't sarcastically use the term "awesome", I would just call it what I really think it is: insipid.

If I had to lay money down on what I thought will be the biggest crisis of this century, I would bet it would be a food crisis. Right now, especially in America, most of us seem to have all the food we can eat, and more. The amount of food wastage is very high, I believe. But if climate change really kicks in, we could have real problems in agriculture worldwide. Of course a worldwide famine has been predicted for years, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. Americans and Islamic Terrorists could be starving together in one big awesome famine.

I don't think race, guns or Jesus had anything to do with this. It is one sick SOB that should get the death penalty. I somewhat agree "considering the state of America" as I attribute today's racial divide 100% on Obama

I’ve lived in 14 counties. JD, I believe this is an awesome country.
The idiots that want make this political are nothing but disgusting to me. We can ban guns, ban religion (OMG the rag heads would go nut) but there is nothing we can do to ban evil. This is an act evil. Killary and Obama have made this event political. For me both are idiots. Combat evil. I challenge anyone that can do that. Removing guns does not solve evil. Five gallons of gas and a match would have killed just as many. Let’s fight evil and not each other.

Good for her. On June 26 Hillary Clinton will attend the Jefferson/Jackson dinner in Virgina, both were slave owners. Bad for her.

Jesse Jackson's Newest Staffer, Mel Reynolds You can't make up stuff better than this! Jesse Jackson has added former Chicago Congressman Mel Reynolds to Rainbow/PUSH Coalition's payroll.. Reynolds was among the 176 criminals excused in President Clinton's last-minute clemency forgiveness spree. Reynolds received a commutation of his six-and-a-half-year federal sentence for 15 convictions of wire fraud, bank fraud, and lies to the Federal Election Commission. He is more notorious, however, for concurrently serving five years for sleeping with an underage campaign volunteer. This is a first in American politics: An ex-congressman who had sex with a subordinate.... Then won clemency from a president who had sex with a subordinate... Then was hired by a clergyman who had sex with a subordinate! His new job? Ready for this?? YOUTH COUNSELOR IS THIS A GREAT COUNTRY OR WHAT? america.aljazeera.com/articles/2015/7/29/world-population-projected-to-hit-11-billion-by-2100.html"Fueled by population growth in some of the poorest African countries, the number of people on earth is expected to grow faster than previously expected, reaching 8.5 billion in 15 years and 11.2 billion by the end of this century, according to United Nations projections released Wednesday. Africa is expected to account for more than half the world’s population growth through 2050, to 9.7 billion from 7.3 billion today. India will likely surpass China and become the most populous country by 2022. Nigeria, currently the seventh-largest country by population, is projected to surpass the United States and become the world’s third largest by 2050. In that time, 28 African countries could more than double in size, and 10 — including Angola, Somalia and Uganda — will more than quintuple." 11 billion by 2100? Maybe, maybe not. Mother Earth has ways to throw a monkey wrench into the unlimited growth of any species.

I'm going to step back here and attempt to take a longer view of what is happening to American politics. I suspect that during the short years of the anti-war left when many young Americans appeared to be moving left, the powers-that-be were afraid their world they had created may have been in jeopardy, and decided to start a decades-long campaign to move America back to the right. Reagan, of course, was their first big success, but they wanted more. With the help of amoral corporations like Clear Channel and Salem Communications, they covered the AM airwaves with cookie-cutter right wing bigmouths (Rush being the king of the mountain), which were a big hit with white working class voters resentful of minorities. And later Murdoch's Fox News came on the scene to appeal to the same crowd. Alas, they may have been TOO successful. A lunatic fringe has arisen, some calling themselves a "Tea Party", and like Frankenstein's monster, has gotten out of control of the establishment conservative politicians. Now in 2015, the fringe is coming together around a blowhard billionaire, who will say almost anything to aggrandize himself. All I have to say is you reap what you sow.
