There are two issues that have always concerned me: War and the environment. And if the GOP gets back to running things, I’m not all that concerned. The odds of either party starting a war is about the same. As for the environment, my time on this clown plamet is getting small. I would worry about the Millennials and the Zoomers, except they seem to be more concerned with price of gas than sea levels in 2050. I can’t blame them. Sorry, Greta.

I would bet the farm how this will all turn out: Russia will take a nk or two out of Ukraine, the West will go hysterically anti-Russia, defense budgets will bloat even further, oil drilling will reach new heights to make up for Russian oil, the oil and defense industry will make historic profits, the Republicans will take over Washington, and we’ll all live happily ever after.

Is this really a full scale invasion? If so, the 20th Century is now officially over.

I have sensed for a while that there are people who have nostalgia for the Cold War (probably Boomers) and now it looks like we will get Cold War ll with Russia. Hopefully not hot war.

It’s hard to believe that a continent that thinks itself so sophisticated as Europe does is once again at war with itself.

It’s the third decade of the 21st Century and the world has produced some really sleazy characters. Biden, Putin, Trump, Zelensky, Musk. And an awesome pandemic to boot. All we need now is WWIII to put the icing on the cake.

In my totally subjective perception, there does seem to be some religious revival going on in various places in the world. Not that I care, it’s just interesting. Why now? Well, AI should take care of that. Or not. But as the robot girl Mina says in the manga I’m reading, “At times, humans have issues thinking rationally. Hence, they require the help of robots.”

I considered starting a thread on our post-philosophical era, but beside wanting to avoid more thread bloat, I suspect it would be DOA, like Jordan Peterson’s Conservative Manifesto. So I put my philosophy on philosophy in here. As always, though, I am late to the party, since philosophy has been declared dead at least from the 30’s. Unless you consider religion a philosophy, which is still going strong (look at our extremist SCOTUS). But most people have as much to do with philosophy as I do with sports. They just have more practical things to worry about. Even Neocon Public Radio has many more sports stories than anything philosophical. Except Making the World Safe for Democracy by butchering Russkis with American arms in the Ukraine. You can find talks about philosophy on YouTube, of course, but I would call that Zombie Philosophy: Dead philosophy walking. Sorry, Plato.

Who would have guessed that in the third decade of the 21st Century the biggest thing on the minds of Europeans (and some Americans) would be immigration? Someone, no doubt, but I would have thought that the events of 1914 to 1945 would have cured people of Nationalism. It’s back with a vengeance. And of course, it will lead to war, not just with themselves but against Islam, I suspect. And maybe Nationalism will bring murder and mayhem to America, too. Something could set off all those flag-waving “patriots”. Imagine what the assassination of Trump would do! On the other hand, war with China, another Nationalist extravaganza, may unite the country, but for what ends? And we might even lose. If we’re not all radioactive.
