Current virus infections: For those of you who think FireFox is better than IE relative to malware infections proof has not been more abundant than of late that - FireFox is not better, it just owned less of the marketshare and was not worthy of the hacker's attention. That time has passed. Over the past week and last month - the majority of my virus infection calls have been from users who had switched to FireFox thinking they would be less vulnerable. WRONG! Another case of dumbing down the public rather than teaching them proper computer usage/hygiene. ((AOL, Mac, FireFox, etc)) Instead of depending upon applications to think for you - use your own minds and precautions. The one below is the latest 'fun' one to work with. There are only a few of us that are able to remain ahead of this beastie. AntiVirus System Pro aka FakeAlert IF you get a pop-up with the above type of window OR popups telling you that an infection has occurred and you need to purchase a package from their company - DO NOT CLICK ON ANYTHING! IMMEDIATELY ... ctrl-alt-del ONE TIME....... Go to processes - left click on the column heading [Image Name] so that things are alphabetized, right click on iexplore.exe - Kill Process TREE ... do that for EVERY instance of Iexplore.exe or Firefox.exe that you encounter. Then clear your cache - www.dolphmera.com/Internet/ClearSurfN.htmand reboot your system. REPEAT.......... do NOT click on ANYTHING.......... not even the X in the upper right hand corner - do not click on the OK ... nothing. Any click on those items causes it to infect your system and we need to move fast after that. If you are infected (you clicked the X or OK) there are backdoor ways we can disable and remove the infection - yet it is not easy.

I hate those popups. My mom calls me every time. :/ I hear you. With this virus... even clicking on the X to get out of it just causes the process to continue. ARGGH It is fun removing these in Remote - yes? (NOT!) BTW if you want a tool that is awesome for tunneling in with minimal work on anyone's part: www.teamviewer.comDownload the personal version, Indicate it is personal use Control = all control Do not enter a password. After it launches there will be an ID that remains PC specific - yet the password changes with each access to the computer. Randomly generated. IF you want to be able to boot into the machine without user availability - then yes, assign a password (I can do that when remotely connected to the user such that if I need a series of reboots I can without bothering them) Great little application - easy on the enduser. Easy connectivity (no fussing with firewalls, software impedances like some of the other remote ware)

That works as well.
