Agreed. That is the oldest thing (minus the CD burner) inside that case.

We got the daughter a laptop for college.... it came with the free Win 7 CD... we ordered it this weekend. So Win 7 is worth upgrading to?

If Vista came with it of course it is If they give you an upgrade disk, launch it from Vista, but do a "clean" install. If it is an OEM disk from Dell or whatever, then just pop that baby in and reboot!

my daughter likes vista and wont upgrade her laptop... so I will have the Win7 cd when it gets here. I will have to decide what to do then, if anything. If I decide to use it, it will go on my main machine, or the storage machine I am still working on. We shall see.

Most people that never messed with any of the older windows seem to like Vista... I hate it, takes over too much for me. I am an old NT person, where you hand load everything and know what you got.

Server 2008 (which is vista/7 like) changed so many things up in the management consoles (particularly with group policies), it takes a while to find (same with "add/remove programs" being renamed to "Programs and Features". it still takes me a while to remember it was renamed in order to find it in the control panel). I'm still not used to the Windows 7 toolbar turning into a dock. I miss having quick launch (taken from me!!!). However, all in all, 7 seems faster to me than Vista, and I like being within the lifecycle to get updates. I think XP SP3 has a little under a year to go.

Sorry about the parenthesis; bad habit. Parens are fine... it breaks up the thought train and makes sense.

I just received the Windows 7 Ultimate. I can't install it until this weekend though What is difference between 7 Pro and Ultimate? Will I have to upgrade Server 2003 to employ 7 on machines in office? Is it worth the investment or not?
