Some great photos and stories of your dogs! It reminds me, with some sadness, that this will be the first Halloween (after 16 years) that I will sit outside handing out candy to the neighborhood kids without my Beagle, Duke, sitting beside me. He loved the children and it was his night when he loved to be petted by all the kids. As he liked children, he was very attentive and protective of them, including my grandson. He was a great dog and for a hound, you would seldom hear a bark or howl from him. He passed on last November at the age of 16 1/2 years old. I will include some photos and a couple comments soon.

Here are a couple of photos when he started graying. When he passed on, the whole top of his head was white and his ears had very little color too! Duke was the first dog that I have had that did not like water! He tried not to be out in the rain except when he HAD to do business. We have had him in a lake and he would swim for the shore and get out as soon as possible. He would not follow us in but would run around anxiously awaiting for us to come out. Other than that, he would be beside us where ever we would go. Strangely, he loved beaches while avoiding the water. I mentioned that he loved children and our grandson was his special friend. When he was with us, Duke would always be near him, even sleeping by the crib or playpen. He would constantly be beside him and would rush to meet him whenever he arrived to our house.

We had a Terrier/Poodle mix named Humphrey. He was 3 when we adopted him, he was a part of our family for 16 years. He too, hated the water, would step around a small puddle during walks. I swear when they were handing out 'Brains', he heard 'Rain' and said, "Nope, I'm not going outside". He was a very good dog, still missed after passing 4 years ago. We now have a Shepard/Husky mix (Husky/Shedder is more like it), named Koa she is a good dog, too.

This is a pretty close replica of what my wife calls her "Granddog". His name is "Norman" and he has the sweetest disposition of any dog I've ever known. He's just a tad under 100 lbs. and loves to play. Just don't let him drop one of his "toys" on your foot. He's dark as midnight and I've only heard him bark once - it was an incredibly deep sound that was reminiscent of similar sounds from horror movies. Great looking Dog.

I will load it to my server and send you the link with the correct codes for showing it. Pictures need to be on a site other than our computers so the web can access it without affecting our personal machines.

I will say again that this is NOT a picture of Norman, but rather one of the first pictures displayed when you Google "English Lab" and select "images". That said, this picture is almost exactly what Norman looks like, except that Norman usually has a 5 lb. chew toy in his mouth.

My oldest brother has a dog, Zeke, that looks like this also. That dog had to be put on a diet as it will eat continously if you let it. If given a large bone to chew on, he will completely eat it within a half hour. The most amazing thing about him is that he is one of only 2 dogs that I know of that eats raw vegetables. He will gobble a head of lettuce, carrots, and the list goes on! He is a very large dog but extremely friendly and loves the water (including the ocean)!

My Baby. Ignore the Demon Eyes, usually they're just Pinwheel Eyes. The shaved spot on her leg is from an IV, she had her teeth cleaned a week ago.
