OOPS- I didn't finish the sentence,if one of Obama's daughters in several years came up pregnant out of wedlock ..... The answer there is that an abortion would take place an nobody would ever know! And, IF the baby was to be carried to full term, the attacks on Palin's daughter would definitely be remembered. There are posters who are pounding that into our long term memories! What goes around comes around. The liberals are raising a morality issue about Palin's daughter, especially a couple here on this blog. The Conservatives are more forgiving, especially since they have decided to keep the baby full term. It doesn't mean we support unwed mothers. Look at reality, kids of parents from all political persuasions are getting pregnant out of wedlock. Particularly the poor members of our society. It seems that a majority of the poor had voted for Obama. Does that mean that liberals support pregnancy out of wedlock more than conservatives? There are many very good parents (strong rch members or not) whose children still manage to get themselves pregnant. Parents cannot, and should not, manage their children 24/7. They will be alone at some time and it is at those times parents hope that the children refrain from doing wrong. How many here had a drink before they were 21? How many had a drink while still in High School or earlier? How many had sex before getting married? And you want to criticize those kids? I remember in a special sex ed class that was presented that they stated that a condom is so well tested that they will NEVER break. Well, I can tell you that isn't so. I had one break, only one mind you, but that could have been enough. Fortunately a pregnancy did not occur. Things happen! Palin's daughter and her boyfriend were not running for office. So I agree with Larry, it is time to let them be.

Retired,my only point was yhat the right wing would go nuts over an Obama daughter getting in "trouble".Of course they're too young at this point but I know what would happen in 5 or 6 years if that came to be.We all did foolish things when we were young but it the hypocricy that is the point.I don't condemn the kids as much as the elders.Saying one thing and doing the other, that's all.

It would probably be right to say that an unwed pregnant child of any President would hear the wrath of the other party's supporters. How much did you hear about Clinton's daughter having intercourse with her boyfriend while at college (Stanford?) near San Francisco? It was brought up and then hushed real quick. You didn't hear the Republicans on a long campaign about morality like what is happening to a Vice Presidential hopeful. The hypocrisy is that while many of those having out of wedlock babies are of the poor, most of whom supported Obama, yet that party is on a campaign to destroy one family who was only a VP hopeful, ironically quoting hypocrisy. The Republican position surely does not support out of wedlock pregnancies. But they do understand that it happens. The hypocrisy would be if they had followed up with an abortion! I am very curious as to what powers the Democrats think Sarah Palin possesses. Aside from the pregnant daughter issue, the left side of politics cannot leave the VICE PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL alone. I can't recall any VP hopeful receiving such attention. Certainly not Geraldine Ferraro. In fact, it might be hard to find a PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL who might have received as much attention after the election. Maybe they fear she will make an attempt to a Senate seat after her Governorship?

Well retired in CV,Palin received the attention because of her statements, answers to questions, her husband's interfering in the governing of Alaska, her question use of state funds to take her family to conferences etc.Sadly some of the attention may have been because she was a woman. She was just controversial,a poor choice for McCain.

Back on the topic... I don't really care if she is expecting. They are a young family. Why not? I do think, though, that she was wearing a stunningly ugly dress that evening. I agree, I don't think she is pregnant and that dress was awful! Her inaugural ball gown was stunning and it didn't show any "baby bump."

But I do wonder if this shoe was on the other foot would the media have reported it?

Lou you can't be that naive! Not only would it be reported but at length and continually by Fox,Hannity,Limbaugh,Savage and on and on.And RR would have an orgasm!!

Not only would it be widely reported, but those I mentioned would be duly "outraged" over it and all sorts of absurd statements would be made.Again I repeat it is the hypocracy of those who defended Palin but would jump all over the Obamas.I'm sure all media would report it but just the rightwing would make it the biggest issue of the decade.Anyway it's all hypothetical since the girls won't be getting pregnant right away, probably after he leaves office and proibably not out of wedlock. If Michelle were pregnant(the original topic of this thread) is would be great.

Bruce, I would not argue against you that right wing pundits would have a field day. I am not sure I would agree that it is hypocritical.
We know that the Joe The Plumber story grew legs in the main stream media. But, those legs only appeared after some lefty simple servant decided to dig into his personal life, illegally I might add, and make it public. So, as the saga unfolded to the glee of the boisterous liberal coffee and crap crowd, he became the butt, not only of jokes, but, the very place where liberal ideology resides. In da butt.
Prior to this ascendancy to butthood, Joe The Plumber would have likely faded into a vague memory as a non-story.
What was one of the discoveries that made the airwaves about this poor soul? Wasn't it taxes? Seems to me that sounds familiar.
But, of course, it seems to be such a small blip on the Alpha Bet Boob Tube stations... when referring to lefty cabinet position appointees.
Wonder how that works. Wonder how it works when TV is finally off analog.

Hatch, Joe sold his soul to the devil, he does not get to complain about the heat. Joe was not a plumber he was a plumbers apprentice. The difference between him and the most recent nominee to drop out because of tax trouble (a lien of less than a thousand dollars) is that she was qualified. I would offer up that some of the liberal nominees are not so good with their taxes. The last administration was better at their taxes. They just were not up to the job of running the country.
