Why should Scott Peterson, OJ Simpson, David Westerfield and other locked up criminals be given any rights? Does this also give you indigestion Hatch? Or is it just Muslums and Hispanics that you identify so clearly as not having ANY rights. We should be able to lock people up, take the word of our government and throw away the keys...forever. Keep them instead locked in a prison where we can keep them from any rights, any way to contact anyone, anyway of telling anyone anything. Soon people like Hatch would want people that complain about conservatives to be put away and hidden, maybe gays and women seeking abortion. If anyone thinks this is funny, it is not, it is the direction this type of thinking starts to take. Who would have ever thought that our government would start spying on Americans without warrants??? But they did.
So to me as a Christian, or even less, just an American citizen, we should want all peoples in the care of our government to receive FAIR treatment. Fair is to be fed, clothed and housed. To have access to the law. To have access to hope. To have access to loved ones. To be treated as a human.
It is clear that the misguided one is Hatch and beyond misguided and wrong, he remains very very scary if he represents conservatives and the Minutemen. With his thinking, we could return to beheadings, whippings and other forms of discipline that people who can't think past prejudices and hates don't think or feel the same as us.
DJ, my backyard is literally on Pendleton, with my fence bordering the base near the back gate. Only the 50 foot wide fire cut saved my home from burning down last year in the fires on Pendleton. I feel safer from any prisoners then I do from a used cartridge starting more fires next summer. Trust me when I say, that no prisoner held on the base will ever escape.

Well as usual, VOR states correct and valid points.
America is strong because we value the rule of LAW.
anyone IMO who thinks otherwise is undermining the very fabric our great country is built on.
BUSH / CHeney have sht on the constitution believing the ends justifiy the means...that is crap, and they have ruined our stance in the world.
Obama will respect the law and bring respect to the US.
dont be affraid of America and our constitution.
All those that supported Bush's destruction of our contitution should be ashamed. If you think you are helping america by destroying our constitution, you must be as ignorant as Sarah Pallin IMO
2 wrongs dont make 1 right people. grow up.

Hatch must be worried about a few bucks that we drop on civil rights or food or medical service for illegal aliens, but its funny, I didnt hear anything about the trillion dollars we spent on Iraq. Was it worth all those thousands of casualties Hatch to kill Hussian? Was it worth all that money, possibly a trillion dollars. Ah, I forgot, its OK if youre killing Muslums to spend that type of money but its unreasonable to spend money on immigrants or on the civil rights of some unconvicted prisoners. LOL....so typical.

The SCOTUS decision granted habeas corpus protection to detainees at Gitmo. This does not confer any additional constitutional protections separate from those. Habeas corpus was not a casual topic for the framers of the Constitution. For many of those individuals it was the single most important right contained in the bill of rights.
Current and former military leaders have testified before Congress that the perceived (I am using this word because perception is what matters most. I believe that water boarding and other acts known to have occurred are acts of torture but I do not want to discuss that in this post) mistreatment of US held prisoners is a chief recruiting tool for both al-Qaeda and other extremist groups. These acts have consequences for our troops so the discussion of Gitmo detainees is not just academic.
But if our chief criticism of the outgoing administration is that they did not anticipate the consequences of their decisions formed seemingly in haste, than it seems illogical to want the incoming administration to act in equal haste. The supreme court is clearly not going to allow these alleged terrorists to be held indefinitely so something has to be done but we should be as careful coming out as we were careless going in. If you read some of Gonzales arguments for not granting habeas corpus you will know what I mean by careless. When you start messing with the rules of the game there are always unintended consequences. The mess needs to be cleaned up and not swept under a rug. Before Obama declares it regally we need some serious constitutional scholars to examine it legally.
I think they should be sent to Fort Leonard Wood Missouri as punishment for their treatment of me during basic training. Besides from what I could tell Missouri hasn't entered fully into treaty with the United States so it is not like they are actually being held in the United States (it's Missouri for chrissake). That way if they escape they will not be able to steal any books, leastwise the ones they haven't colored in yet.

Jack Oliver says"America is strong because we value the rule of LAW.
anyone IMO who thinks otherwise is undermining the very fabric our great country is built on."
That's correct Jack. That's why I don't understand our assisting illegals in breaking our laws.We all know the rules, yet our gov't sends mixed messages to law breakers by granting aide to these people. We hang the Mexican flag on our welfare office flagpoles,WHY? :'(This one is not good enough to make Hispanics feel welcome?)
VOR you speak about prejudice and hate, yet breaking a countries laws and flaunting a persons sovereignty are direct precursors to this attitude and behavior.Respect our laws and Americans will respect you, just as in the rest of the world.
E-VERIFY would be a nice start.Only promoters for open borders is trying to block implementation. At a reported 99.5% success rate, the said argument against it is bologna.Americans need to work before illegals, period.
Some type of worker program is also needed to channel the workers in the correct path.If you come here as field work,we don't need you then going off to work somewhere else, undermining the wage scale.
If the laws were obeyed there would be no animosity.

Back on topic.
Rick continued to denegrade the ability of our fine marines to be able to take care of the gitmo prisoners if necessary.
This is just another example of the GOP and Prk Roberts smearing and degrading ANYONE FOR THE SAKE OF A CHEAP POLITICAL non Point.
SOME ONE PLEASE TELL RICK TO LAY OFF OUR MARINES.
I already wrote him twice and the coward told me to call him when I raise 5 million dollars for the troops...
does that mean buying the marines mean you can now use them and discredit them?
that did not make sense to me, but Im not suprised,
Many hear are seeing Prk Roberts for whom he really is.
A CHEAP POLITICAL GOP WATER BOY HACK. imo

I didn't hear RR's show so I can't directly address the issue; but, why would RR denigrate the Marines when he has done so much for the military? Could he just be expressing his outrage at the closure of Gitmo? Could he also be outraged at the possible coming court "circus" trials for the terrorists?

sorry if I shoot straight from the hip, and if I dont choose my words.
You ask why Rick would do this?
Ask him,,,and then let him hang up on you and call you names.
Many know that Rick will denegrade ANYONE in order to make a cheap political partisen GOP talking point smear.
Next time you listen to him, trying being open minded (not that you are not) , but try and listen with the understanding , 'WHO WILL RICK ATTACK TODAY IN ORDER TO PROP UP THE GOP?"
You will be fascinated how much time and energy he uses in order to do so what I described.
Not to be snarky, but I love it when rick proves my point everday !!!

Another slap at America for the sake of cheap political GOP points.
sorry this is such a repetative subject, but im just stating the latest GOP smear talking point.
