Last night we went to Island Prime on Harbor Island to celebrate my wife's birthday. I'm so glad that my stepson arranged and paid for the excursion. www.cohnrestaurants.com/restaurants/islandprime/I read numerous reviews (all good) along with their on-line menu before we went, but was not very impressed when we got there. Two restaurants, "Island Prime" and "C Level" share the space and are sort of separated by a bar area. "C Level" offers more seafood dishes and is much lower priced - must be the level of service? The noise level made it hard to hold a conversation, the service was good, but very slow and the menu was awkward. Most of the entrees were a la carte and the pricey side dishes were too large to add to a single meal and too cumbersome to share. Having read both menus, I quickly realized that the table 5 feet from me and technically in the other restaurant could get the same filet mignon for about 4-5 bucks less and actually enjoy a better view of the Harbor. The time lags between drinks, hors d'oeuvres, main courses, desert and the check were tedious. When the check did finally arrive I was glad that I didn't have to look at it. The bottom line is that I expected much better food quality than what was presented and didn't feel that the atmosphere and service were enough to justify the prices.
