I think this is important enough for it's own thread. I have just seen the draft outlines of the new districts, and it looks like I may have a chance to finally have a Democratic congressperson after 30 years living under the Hunter dynasty.

www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-republicans-20110612,0,4554144.story "With the unveiling of the state's new political boundaries last week, California Republicans are contemplating their very survival: Without a course correction, they could be headed for the wilderness. Drawn for the first time by an independent commission instead of Sacramento insiders, the proposed new voting maps suggest the GOP could lose as many as five seats in Congress. Moreover, Democrats may be positioned to win two-thirds of the state Legislature, potentially robbing the minority party of its ability to block tax increases, the last vestige of its governing power in the state Capitol." While you guys are sweating Anthony Weiner, a shakeup is going on with California's congressional delegation.

Last week, the Service Employees International Union launched a political action committee aimed at helping moderate Republicans be elected to the Legislature." And I vehemently opposed the "top-two" primary system, still do. But maybe there is a silver lining...

You don't seriously think Filner will give up his seat if he loses the mayors race! Not a chance. Besides, he has been swindling the Hispanic vote in the eastern part of his current district. That is what has been keeping him in office. So I doubt that he fears the hispanic vote. Of course, I will be more than happy if your are correct, I will be pleased to be rid of him as my representative. Time for a Republican and it could be Nick Popaditch (THE Marine!).

I was in Temecula today and I saw bunches of Duncan Hunter signs still up. It gave me a warm feeling inside that they were stuck with him while I was free, and now had a delightful Democrat representing me.

Apparently Brian Brilbray has not conceded yet to Scott Peters. I'm praying Peters will hang on to his lead as they count absentee ballots. Gatting rid of Bilbray would be icing on the cake.

Are we getting rid of Issa? How about Duncan Hunter Jr.? It would be awesome if San Diego county became Republican-free in Congress.

www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/sd-me-district-49-shift-20180112-story.html"If Republicans do manage to hold onto the district in November, it’ll likely be a temporary victory, said Carl Luna, a political science professor at San Diego Mesa College. “Old white voters who used to define San Diego are less of a force,” he said. “It’s becoming in California a perfect storm against Republicans. They have to figure out how they’re going to surf that storm or risk becoming irrelevant.” Since 2000, Republican registration in California has dropped from about 35 percent to just 26 percent. In that time frame, the percentage of registered Democrats has remained around 45 percent, while those declining to state a party preference jumped from 14 percent to 24 percent." Time is not on the bad guy's side.

His campaign for Congress has been embraced by Democratic activists across the nation. He is an advocate of tough environmental measures, including a permanent moratorium on offshore drilling, and legal protections for immigrants who were brought into this nation as children. At 29, he has never run for office and is barely known in this suburban San Diego district near Camp Pendleton. But Mr. Campa-Najjar abruptly emerged Wednesday as a decidedly credible candidate to represent this solidly Republican enclave in a Democratic state, after the incumbent, Representative Duncan Hunter, a Republican, was indicted with his wife Tuesday on charges of using $250,000 in campaign funds for personal expenses." Ha-ha! Trouble for my former deplorable Congressdude. Of course, the GOP could run a dog with the name Hunter in that district and he'd win.

While the despicable Duncan Hunter hung on in the deplorable district to my east, to the north sleazebag Darryl Issa was replaced with a Democrat! Awesome! And farther north, longtime nutcase Rohrabacher was retired too!

With the 40-year-old corrupt Hunter dynasty in peril in my former Congressional district, a bunch of well known local Republican vultures are lining up to take the seat, knowing once you are a Republican incumbent in that district you pretty much have a job for life unless you totally screw up. So we have Darryl Issa, fired from a formerly safe Republican North Country district, and we have Brian Jones, a local far-righty who was my state assemblyman until he was termed out, and we have Carl De Maio, failed mayoral candidate and radio gasbag. Should be fun to watch.

Sadly my congresswoman is retiring, so I have to pick some other Dem to take her place, who will not be the incumbent. Which makes the chance of getting a Republican dirtbag a little higher.

Happily, I got another Democrat as my congressman to replace Susan Davis. Meanwhile, in my former district scumbag Darryl Issa is in office, the guy who bankrolled the Gray Davis recall back in 2003 and got us that idiot Terminator into the Governor's office. Now Darryl and his clown radio accomplices are targeting another Democrat governor, Gavin Newsom. We'll see if clown radio and it's aging Boomer audience still has the juice to pull a recall off, and possibly put another idiot Republican in office.
