Thanks, D., I appreciate it. But it's not at all surprising that Murdoch would repeat the age-old accusation against Unions: That they "they protect bad [workers] rather than reward good [workers]". The whole concept of solidarity is probably beyond an elitist like him. But then again solidarity, or "an injury to one is an injury to all", is pretty much a lost concept in modern America as a whole. So be it, but there will be a price to pay... Are you an anti-American proponent of socialism or just continuing to play your role as our little master baiter?

Is there anything more boring than fishing? Sitting out in the hot sun for hours to catch one stupid little fish? And even worse, game fishermen stripping the oceans of the large and beautiful "gamefish".

I fish for issues...politics are my sports. www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/oct/07/rupert-murdoch-thatcher-speech"Murdoch will give the inaugural Baroness Thatcher lecture at a key moment for News Corp, which is trying to take full control of pay-TV company BSkyB. He is expected to use the speech, "Free Markets and Free Minds", to praise Thatcher's contribution to the British economy. The takeover has alarmed Murdoch's critics, who claim it will consolidate his dominant position in UK media. News Corp is expected to formally notify the European Commission of its intention to buy the 61% of Sky it does not already own in the next fortnight."

Murdoch may be hot at slanted print (WSJ) and putting demagogues on the air (Fox News), but he sucks at social networking... www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-ct-myspace-20110112,0,3960758.story "There's no short explanation for Myspace's stunning fall, but people with knowledge of the situation say the social network struggled to innovate once it had been absorbed by the old-media giant." Also, Myspace's managers came under pressure to wring profits from the site, while Facebook's private investors were willing to absorb losses to invest in the future."The first signs of Myspace's waning fortunes appeared in 2008, when News Corp. reported that it was falling short of its $1-billion revenue projections for the site, not long after Murdoch had been predicting the site would soon be yielding $300 million annually in profits. By that time, Myspace had lost the focused attention of its most powerful internal advocate, Murdoch." Yeah, it's hard for a geezer to keep his attention focused...

www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-koch-brothers-20110206,0,1681069.story "Reporting from Washington — The billionaire brothers David and Charles Koch no longer sit outside Washington's political establishment, isolated by their uncompromising conservatism. Instead, they are now at the center of Republican power, a change most evident in the new makeup of the House Energy and Commerce Committee." "Claiming an electoral mandate, Republicans on the committee have launched an agenda of the sort long backed by the Koch brothers. A top early goal: restricting the reach of the Environmental Protection Agency, which oversees the Kochs' core energy businesses." "The Kochs provided initial funding for the libertarian Cato Institute and are key donors to the Federalist Society, among other conservative organizations."

online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703293204576105760131773034.html?mod=WSJ_hp_LEFTTopStories"If Gov. Walker succeeds in Wisconsin, it's likely that other reformers will follow his lead and explore ways to restrict public-sector unions' use of members' dues. Tax advocates in California, for instance, have proposed an initiative that would require a government union to gain the approval of individual members in order to divert dues into political campaigns. Such measures would give opponents around the country a new playbook to follow in countering the rich resources and deep influence of public unions over taxes and spending." One of Moloch's Murdoch's numerous toadies chimes in. I'm wondering...will all this attention on Unions backfire for the right and revive worker's interests in Unions? I can dream, can't I...

www.independent.co.uk/news/people/profiles/charlotte-harris-nowhere-to-hide-says-the-lawyer-on-murdochs-case-2269242.html"She says the phone-hacking scandal raises profound questions about who is in charge of the country: newspapers, and in particular those owned by the world's most powerful media baron, or the police who should be curbing their excesses, and the public. In a flurry of words, Ms Harris, 33, says: "This is about power and about thinking that you're above the law and about who we can trust, and fundamentally this is about whether we live in a democracy, or a Murdocracy dictatorship that I never voted for."

www.nytimes.com/2011/05/15/business/media/15newscorp.html?_r=1&hp"Critics of the company seized on the donations — which were made public only in news reports — as evidence of bias on the part of the News Corporation, which owns the Fox News Channel and The Wall Street Journal, and Mr. Murdoch, who has long been a supporter of conservative causes." "The decision may have stemmed from shareholders who raised questions about the donations at an annual meeting last October. “Our concern was not only that shareholders found out not through the standard decision-making process but through media reports, but more importantly that this was shareholder money that was being used — but it was not being used for a clear rationale for furthering shareholder value,” Laura Shaffer Campos, the director of shareholder activities for the Nathan Cummings Foundation, told The Associated Press."
