Jackson and Sharpton are far far away from being the problem, they are the end result of racism, racism created them. And the preoccupation with Rev. Wright is laughable. Why don't you all focus on the real source. Racism. Take a closer look at some of your "heroes" and spokespersons. Start with Ann Coulter.

Racisim has been a bad mark on the would and particularly in this country. But it isn't ONLY THE WHITES who express racism. It was only more prevalent because they held the power in this country and exercised their racism. I agree that was wrong. But while most of the country has progressed a great deal concerning racism, some minorities still embrace racism and use it every chance they get to gain benefits over others. To the others this is reverse discrimination but from the minority it is PURE RACISM! The likes of Jackson, Sharpton and many others are firetruck chasers who take advantage of this situation and their positions. They laugh and line their pockets with profits from fueling that racism!

Minority racism tends to come from minority groups that views itself as special, and possibly backed by an external power; it also tends to be closely associated with imperialism. Sadly many minorities think it is cool to hate whitee. Ever walk on eggshells around a black person? You must, every word, every action is scrutinized. Minorities keep racism alive.

"Where is the love" by Black Eyed Peas has a very good line "When you only have love for your own race, you only leave space to discriminate."
Having love for your people is a great a great thing, but when that comes at the exclusion of love for all others, maybe it’s time to sit back, educate yourself and just plain GROW UP?

I can't believe this crap, trying to blame racism on the victims. Again you all are showing a total lack of ability to see reality. As I said before, racism created Jackson and Sharpton. I agree that they may take advantage of situations, and amongst ourselves there is considerable doubt as to their effectiveness and motivation. We rarely admit that to others. However to make them out as racists is trying to shift the blame. Racism is in the hands of those who run the place. Racism among those who are powerless is an exercise in futility. Why did Palin say nothing about the shouts to "kill him" when Obama was mentioned, nor did she say anything about stuffed monkeys and watermelon rinds being waved at rallies, nor the racist signs. That is pandering to racism, if not racism itself. All the "Muslim", "Not an American", "terrorist". etc charges are thinly disguised racism. Even in the "Are Catholics Un-American" thread, out of nowhere one poster got in a crack about the president not meeting their "standards" as a Christian.

Bruce I’m the new kid, “you all” is to “all” inclusive. Listen to some Black Eyed Peas Chill and be fair bro. I referenced the Black Eyed Peas when the absurd "rap" video was displayed. I am not normally a hip hop/rap fan, but I really dig the jams laid down by the Peas.Slammin' rightside and nightside. I shouldn't put the "all" after "you" but I usually type what I'm thinking, and I've been saying you all since age 11. It's pronounced "y'all" but I don't want to confuse the old folks here.

Racism is in the hands of those who run the place. Racism among those who are powerless is an exercise in futility. This is NOT TRUE any longer! Reverse discrimination is proof of it. Minorities get privileged benefits over non-minorities by playing the race issue. The standards for promotions, hiring, etc. are often skewed over race in order to promote the minority first. Jackson, Sharpton and many others have pushed these issues. The minorities are not powerless with these people and our Congress representing them. The issue is that the representation oversteps equality when Jackson, Sharpton and others are involved. At first I would agree that overstepping was needed in order to swing the pendulum. Now that it has swung, there is no need to hold it on the other side! It is time to let it rest in the middle. FAILURE to do so just fuels more discrimination and it all continues. The whites have undergone years of "enlightenment" along with many laws to change their ways. With exception to some small communities, that change has gone a very long way. There has been much less change amongst the minorities concerning their racist attitudes. These attitudes are being passed on to their children as if they have earned a right to be racist. They continue to blame the whites of today for what the forefathers of this country did a long time ago. While the whites still have more to improve on, this return racist attitude only fuels it where it is decreasing. The failure of minorities to get past the past is much like those in the middle east who refuse to change or assimilate with each other on religious issues (even within a common religion). Yes, after so many years of enlightenment and laws I believe that the minorities who continue to fuel racism do own a major part of racism today. Thank you Jackson and company! They are not what Martin Luther King had envisioned. By the way, I am smacked on both side of this argument! Oh, the comment about the white person walking around on eggshells when around blacks shows the enslavement of whites to the ridicule of being racist for any slight comment or action. Who has the power?

If reverse racism is so prevalent, why is the unemployment rate among blacks 50% higher than among whites? Why is there a $15,000 to $ 20,000 gap in annual family income between black and white? If "all the good jobs" are given to blacks, why these gaps? Death rates for blacks are higher for almost every disease. Why? The myth of the angry white male is just that, a myth. Why does a black male with a 4 year college degree earn less than a white with only a high school degree?
Yes, we've come a long way; attitudes have changed. Surveys have shown that young people, both white and black , have a far different attitude than their elders.
Why did the Barack Obama and family receive more death threats than all the other candidates combined? In fact the numerous Republican candidates received almost none; Hillary Clinton came in a distant second. Hmmmm
The election of Barack Obama was a sign of how far we have come; the reaction to his election among a certain group( 10-15%) shows how far we have to go.

Death threats aside (from the loonatic fringe which no sensible control has been found) Obama is the face of both "Racism and Reverse Discrimination" as a result of much too much Affirmative Action and EEOC programs. Programs which I might add in my opinion have been so overwhelmingly a failure to produce any positive change in this country! Colin Powell said himself that he was the result of such programs but fought hard all his adult life to become a member of society rather than another 'advancement". The more the government targets specific groups with EEOC and AA programs the worse it gets for overcoming Racism! These processes just throw fuel directly on the fire and keep people attached to the Democratic party for the next visit to the Dock for a handout feeding! We have come a long Bruce and I agree with many of your comments but we have to complete the process of doing away with false support and truely blend all races of people into our society without fictious support ellements designed to create a uprising! Jackson and Sharpton are classic cases of fuel on the fire no matter how you evaluate them. They need to remain silent and out of the way of progress. Obama knows this and that is why he put a muzzle on both during the campaign and it appears the muzzle now has a lock on it until 2012!

I am going to say this here because it applies to the discussion and I know all here will understand the "message" and not accuse me of things that are false. If you do so be it, I am acustom to strong views and opinions and welcome them. The biggest issue with racism toward the "Black Community" is simply the fact that the race is known to be very extreme and destructive when they are unhappy with something. Much more so than any other race we deal with (other than the Terrorist now confronting us). Blacks have rioted so many times and destroyed their own communities for whatever reason they decided warrants it that no one can develop long term trust in the leadership to bring them to the negotiating table without violence. Just look at the history of such in this country and agrue as you may the merits, I see it as self destruction! The two young men from the Black Panthers is just another example of this behavior, that I might add was played down by some here as immaterial behavior. Only immaterial because it did not result in someone having their head busted this time. I am sure it would be different if the misbehavior had been properly prosecuted in court where it should have been to send a message the behavior at our polling places is unacceptable. Now we have condoned the misbehavior for future acceptance which I fear is the result of the "inherent threat of violence" associated with prosecution. No other group would or should receive such a message... As for the BS regarding the differences in Pay for Blacks and Whites I am not buying into it. I have both as well as Mexican workers fully integrated into my business with equal pay and opportunity for merit. 2 of the young Blacks (1 Kenyan 1 Ethiopian) fully understand and appreciate the opportunity and take full advantage to work hard, produce and remind me they are deserving of the opportunities through their efforts. I agree! Until the rhetoric and violence ceases on their side, there can never be complete integration in our society, no matter how hard we attempt to "white wash" the situation it just continues to come up "Black Militant" resulting in renewed racism over improvement! Remove it and all will blend nicely.

Remove it and all will blend nicely. Well said concerning the self destructiveness! I find your personal situation at work quite interesting. Your blacks are Kenyan & Ethiopian giving me the impression that they are immigrants. What Bruce has failed to mention is that immigrant blacks are much more successful, overall, than the majority of blacks who were born in the U.S. (I had long ago posted a link on the study showing the difference between the two groups but I don't remember if it was here or at Ricks Blog.) They have not been "indocrinated" with the same issues that seems to hold back blacks born here. They too, have known great struggles, famine and racism without the special programs we have in the U.S. This gives support in johng's statement of programs not succeeding. The immigrant blacks come prepared to work and have very little unemployment (percentage wise with other blacks). They don't seem to listen to the likes of Jackson, Sharpton & others! Can you explain why this is Bruce?

Two simple answers 1. They don't have the legacy of having been enslaved by an alien race
2. When the European interlopers were booted out, the racism basically ended in their native countries.
